Questions & Answers for SEPHORA COLLECTION 'Tricks of the Trade' Anti-Shine Primer

Question
Does this product contain oil?
Since the bottle does not say "oil-free" I am skeptical about using it since I have acne prone skin. I don't want to use something that may clog my pores.

I believe it contains silicone. Some people may break out from it, some may not. I have moderate acne that comes and goes - and I was surprised that it did not cause any break outs for me! You can always try it, and if it causes problems Sephora will accomodate you with a return/exchange.

honestly, this primer did nothing for me. i have EXTREMELY oily skin and i found that this actually made it worse! it felt horrible and sticky when i first put it on and as i wore it throughout the day my entire face looked as if I had rubbed oil onto it. I used blotting paper and powder but nothing could make this primer work for me. i guess it only works for some people and i am ,sadly, not one of them :(

I find that this primer has a more rubbery texture as opposed to a smooth one. At first I didn't like it, but just stuck with it. Now, I find that my foundation sticks to my skin better and lasts longer with this primer. So I think it would work if you're looking for long-lasting. Hope that helps!

I'm surprised so many people are saying it has no scent...I found the fragrance to be overwhelming! It's not fruity or floral, just a clean/soapy scent that reminds me of laundry detergent or home fragrances. Also, there's a lot of alcohol and that smell comes through strongly for me too. Personally, I would not recommend this if your skin is sensitive to fragrances or generally easily irritated.

There isn't much scent to the primer. A bit medicinal maybe, as there is some menthol in it. Just a hint of scent though, nothing that lasts more than a couple minutes after application.

I, personally, think it smells fabulous. But the smell might be too much for you, it's a little heavy for someone who's sensetive to scent. It's kind of musky, with some light floral notes. Note that it does wear off quickly, maybe 10 minutes after it's applied the scent is gone.

Leroc Eye Primer helps keep eye shadow in place, keeps away any signs of daily "wear and tear" that happen to your eyeshadow even into the evening. my eyeshadow also used to tend to break up and clump around due to my naturally oilier skin and this product helps prevent this from happening leaving me free to go out after work and feel good about my make up. it runs about $20 for about half an ounce but believe me, it is not only worth the money because of the good job it does but it also lasts a ridiculously long time! good luck! :)

if you don't already, try using a translucent powder over your makeup to "set" it, reduce shine, and soak up oil. you can get a tinted powder if you like, it's just been my experience that translucent ones blend best (plus you don't have to worry about matching your powder to your skin tone).

as far as which powder to buy, i'd highly reccommend investing in a more expensive brand - bare escentuals, clinique, and makeup for ever all make excellent powders - but test each in the store to see which consistency you prefer. i personally love clinique, and the large jar of loose powder you get for the price has lasted me almost 6 months...definately worth it =)

lastly, philosophy makes some truly great products for acne, shine, and oily-skin issues - since they can be pricey, however, i'd reccommend trying them in-store. =) hope this helps!

Yes it does. Admittedly, I have extremely oily skin, even at my age which is 50-something. My day is extremely day....I put make up on around 8 a.m. and I'm out the door in 30 min. I don't get in every night til about twelve hours later and I don't see a shine start to break out on me until 5 or 6 and then it is only on my T-zone, and really not too much.

I do love this product though because it is light!

It really worked. I wore it for my wedding. I used (gasp a non Sephora product) Mac foundation over it that my makeup artist (God-daughter) insisted on & it stayed like a dream.

I didn't have any shine, no make up transfer with all the hugs, didn't cause any migration of the eye makeup and didn't cause me any redness or splotchiness. I am allergic to air, it seems like. Highly recommended to use with any makeup line.

You could definitely use this primer without make-up; it goes on invisibly and will give a more even and matte effect for the skin. I do not find this primer to be overly drying, but I have oily skin, so it may be hard for me to judge.

Although I'm not 100% sure of the exact answer, my skin does terribly with anything that could possibly clog pores, and as long as I wash my face as I normally would to remove my makeup, I have not noticed in about a month of use that this has clogged my pores or caused any increase in acne.
