Question
What shades of concealer are in each kit?

answer 1
I have bought 3 of these kts and the concealer pot does not show the shade name. I believe they are LM's lightest. I'm very fair and the one in the Nude kit has been perfect. There are two shades in the concealer pot ; a secret camouflage... a light yellow (neutralizes red) base a bit drier in texture and a slightly pink, flesh toned, very creamy concealer. The two may be blended for custom shades and coverage. No creasing!

There are two shades in each set. Most likely you can blend the color to get a match. The concealer works well and is easy to apply. Actually- I let my four year old son "paint" it on me!

I have purchased 3 of the "Nude" (lightest) kits so far. The concealer pot does not show a shade name. Like Secret Camouflage the pot contains two shades; a light, yellow tone a bit drier to cover (red) spots, etc. and a creamy concealer for undereyes. These can be mixed depending on what you need. I have very fair skin and found the shades PERFECT!

Yes, this did cause my skin to break out a LOT. everyone's skin is different though, and many people seem to like this product. You could try it out in store and see if it breaks you out, or if you order online: if you don't like it sephora will allow you to return it if you simply don;t like it.

What is the point of this puff? It just seems to take makeup off of my face. I really don't understand what I should be doing with it....

The Diva Loves the Velour Puff, I use the puff with loose powders. Pat with the puff rather rubbing, that should prevent the problem of removing your makeup.

answer 2
The puff is used to lightly dust on the powder after applying the moisturizer and camouflage for blemishes and under eyes. As long as you don't wipe the powder, but lightly pat it on after completing the other steps, I find it works great and really sets everything. If you follow the instructions on the card that is provided in the kit, you should have no problems with the application.

answer 3
The puff is to "lay" the powder onto your face and, essentially, seal it all in for the day without taking off the makeup underneath. If you put powder on the puff (by sprinkling or by sort of dipping the puff into the powder), gently rub the puff together to spread the powder out so it is not loose and falling off the puff, and then "roll" the puff over your skin in one area then another it doesn't rub anything off and gives a great even, powdered finish. It is sort of like rocking it over each area of your face. It works great.

Funny, I asked the same thing at the store and although they didn't directly say it's useless they directed me to use a powder brush instead. This works better then trying to pouf my face with that puff, it didn't seem to give me even powder coverage.

answer 6
the puff is to apply the loose powder all over your face, the loose powder screws off of the concealer jar... The puff is to lightly pat the powder on to your skin to set the foundation, not to rub in product.

Can't decide!
I have been eyeing this kit for a while now, and I love the tinted moisturizer and have just run out of mine. This is kind of expensive, and I really can't decide if I should get this, or if there are better alternatives. Pleas help!

I'm in the same position! I had the tinted moisturizer, and it's time for more. I loved it! Some days I would just where that! Her products seem to have a good reputation. They have counters in some dept. stores too. The moisturizer is 45, so why not for an extra 15 bucks, try out 6 other products. I think it's a great buy! I'm am ordering tonight! I hope this helps!

First of all the price of this is amazing! You get a great deal, with everything especially with the brushes. But a good alternative is the makeup forever hd foundation set.

Well, I tried some other tinted moisturizers that I really like. I don't know if they are cheaper, but I love, love, love Brite Prep FX Brightening Foundation Primer with SPF 50. After I put that on, I use my shade of Bare Minerals Powder foundation, and it goes on like an airbrushed look, plus you are getting SPF 50!! The other brand I like is Make Up Forever Professional Lift concealer. It comes in different shades, and, again, I put Bare Minerals over that, as well, or you can wear it alone. It is a fabulous product, but I think it is expensive and it is also smaller in size than the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, .05 oz, but it is truely a professional product that won't disappoint. Also, check out Smashbox. I haven't had the chance to try them, but they might be a bit cheaper. In the summer, I live in AZ, I'm going to try using the FX Brite Prep primer, just because it has an incredible SPF of 50, and the sun is the real damage causer of all skin concerns. Try looking into all of Sephora's sale items, too. With the economy, the prices can go down on some of your favorite brands. I hope I have helped you, God Bless.

It is an excellent value, and excellent quality. I also like Hourglass TM, which has alot more coverage (but you don't need to set it or use any primer). This allows my natural skin to show through more though - very natural product = if your skin looks good to begin with it will give you a finish that is pretty

answer 2
Use the Egg Shaped Sponge to apply Tinted Moisturizer (and or foundation). Moisten it with water and squeeze out until it is damp. Dot tinted moisturizer on your face, then blend lightly with sponge working from forehead on down. You want to lightly smooth the product on. Allow to dry then apply concealer and tinted moistruizer.

I used the regular tinted moisturizer and I definetly broke out, however after switching to the oil-free version my breakouts went away and I've been happily using it for the past year or so.
Although, even if you use the oil-free, during the summer my skin got really really shiny. I combat this with some Lierac lotions though and there is no adverse affect with the LM tinted moisturizer.

I have very breakout prone skin and I found this kit, the primer especially, actually helped to improve my skin. I think the primer prevents this and other foundations from clogging pores. It's ok on an oily face. The great thing is the translucent powder, so you can just add a bit more if you're getting shiny.

What shade do I purchase?

I would also recommend the Nude. It sounds like we have similar complections, and I am finding it to be a great shade this late-summer to early fall. If it is any help, in Bare Minerals I wear fair and fairly light and the Nude LM is a great match.
