Questions & Answers for Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Beethoven

Question
Will this palette work with blue eyes?
I have (very) dark blue/grey eyes. I know that browns and earth tones go best with blue, but I'm not sure about blue shadows with blue eyes. I love the colours on this palette but I don't know if it will suit me. Any other blue eyes out there know if it works?

as a blue eyed gal, i was torn between Beethoven and Ludwig. i chose the Beethoven and i am so glad i did. purples are beautiful with blue eyes, and are a great change from the normal gray or brown smokey eye i have been sticking to. there is only one blue shadow in the palette, and i have been using it to add a pop of color as a liner on my lower lash line. blue eyed girls will LOVE beethoven; dont be afraid!

This would look awesome with any eye color. Dont be afraid to go bold with your blue eyes. I would use the silver over the whole lid and the blue in the crease. Other than that I would avoid using the blue. You should be fine using the rest of the colors any way you want.

if you have blue eyes, I would avoid blue shadows because of it being all one color. You might want to go for the Ludwig palette, there are greens and golden bronze colors that will help make your eyes pop.

Hi Blue Eyes

Just wanted to offer a girlie suggestion in regard to your question about the blue-on-blue factor. I was a make-up artist for years and found ways to incorporate any eye color into the palette. If you use the blues as an accent color or partial lining color, you will do fine. You are so right about browns/camels being good for blue eyes. Purples are great too...

I hope the answer helps you just a little! Good luck with the shadows and have a great day!

Do you have the Ludwig palette already? The bronze tones are really great with blue eyes. I use every color in Ludwig, and all but Rad purple and speed blue in Beethoven. Rad p and Spd b might be ok, just have always avoided blue shadows - not the look I like.

If you want to bring out the color in your eyes, you go opposite on the color wheel. I suggest looking up color wheels online. Picking out your eye color, going opposite. If you want to highlight another area of your face, you should use the same color in your case brown. If you have some green in your eyes and want to bring out the green in your eyes, look for red. If you want to bring out the brown, look for blues. In general brown eyes can wear almost every color. Experiment with teals as well. You have one of the few eye colors that can wear teal and look good in it. Brown eye might feel boring to you, but in the makeup world you hit the jackpot:)

I actually have the same color eyes as you and most of the colors except for the matte brown work for me. The matte brown makes my eyes look bloodshot so I steer clear of that color. Otherwise the purples, the blue, the silver, and even the black would flatter your skin type and eye color. Fair skinned people look great with cool tone colors such as blues, purples, and silvers anyways so I think you'd be able to use a lot of colors in the palette. It's probably the best Kat Von D palette for your eye color and skin tone so it's worth the splurge.

It really depends on what kind of look you want. That's the beauty of this palette. You can use the purple shades (great for brown eyes) to do a beautiful smoky purple grey eye, or be neutrel and use Tequila for your base color and brow bone highlighter, with a little bit of leather in the crease. You can also use Leather as a liner. I love brown eyes, because you can get away with almost any color and still look beautiful! The way you apply the shadows makes the shades go from innocent to bold as well. My eyes are Hazel/brown and a quick wash of Razor Gray looks great with some grey or black liner. Hope this helped rather than confused! Have fun!!!

Beethoven is the best. She'll Love the color Tequila for high lighting and shimmer and you can't go wrong with lucifer ( The black ) and Leather (the brown) for the creases she can add the girly colors for the entire lid.
It's a great starter palette.

I think the Ludwig palette would really flatter your daughter's complexion because of all the neutral colors in there. Each of those neutral colors such as the copper have gold specks in them so it would look nice on your daughter's skin. Plus, neutrals flatter any color eye so I think that would be the best choice. The True Romance palette is also good if you're looking for some girlier colors since it's chalk full of purples but it also has a copper in there like in the Ludwig Palette so you're really getting the best of both worlds. So either or would be good for your daughter in my opinion.

Question
Do the KVD shadow sets emphasize fine lines?
The colors of these sets look lovely and the reviews are great. But, they seem to contain alot of metallic and shimmery shades. I'm wondering if the shades emphasize or highlight fine lines. My skin is actually in lovely shape and I don't have many lines. But, there are some shades/lines of make up that just seem to find them! That's not a look that I want! I'd love to hear from those of you in my age bracket who have experience with this line of eye make up. By the way, I'm a forty six year old. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not in your age group, but some of these colors are pretty shimmery and I could definitely see them highlighting fine lines, so that could be something to consider when buying. The matte shades might crease a bit too, but if you use a primer it's nothing to worry about.

I find that the colors are highly-pigmented and don't draw attention to lines at all. the colors are rich, and the sparkly shades aren't *too* sparkly.. they add just the right amount of shimmer.

Actually do to the dry formulation of matte shades, they tend to make crepey lids look like raisons. A little bit of shimmer is a good thing. Keep it from just above the crease and down to the lash line. I would not go above the crease line much with it. Try it, I think you will be surprised. No they do not really emphasize any more than others. I personally like UD and tarte, even the new be palette shadows are quite nice on aging lids (who is not aging though). Look for brands that use skin care ingredients in their makeup. Could not hurt right?

Well, I haven't had any problems with these colors setting into my creases, but I have had that problem in the past. I don't know if you use it, but if you don't, I'd reccomend the Urban Decay Primer Potion. You put it on before you put on shadow and it prevents shadow from creasing. It is an amazing product, and ever since I have started using it I havent had a problem with creasing - even with cream shadows, which are notorious for creasing.

I would get her the Ludwig pallet. I have similar skin/eye color and have purchased both the Ludwig and the True Love sets. I think that both pallets are really pretty but the Ludwig pallet seems to work better with my skin tone for everyday wear. I use the True Love set for my evenings out- they are more dramatic and make my green eyes really POP but they are a bit too much for day wear.

My sister also has fair skin and hazel to green eyes depending on the season. Hazel eyes go best with their opposites, like any other eye color. Plums, purples, navies, and yellow undertones will look the best. But don't let that limit you in the selection of colors if mixed and balanced correctly your daughter should be able to pull off any color.

I honestly like blue shadows and purples with my Blue eyes. My eyes change color from a grayish blue to a deep blue and to a green. Mainly they staytrue blue though. I like the shade of blue and purple in this set and the black is deep too. However like the review I gave, you need to buy the setting spray that she has because I cannot get the color to stay on my lids and I used primer and my skin is not at all oily. But otherwise I love this for my eyes. I used the dark blue in this with this neon blue from the dollar general lol but it makes my eyes pop with color and you really notice how blue my eyes are.

I have both of the Ludwig and Beethoven palettes and I also have brown eyes. I wouldn't say that either is made especially for a type of eyes, But you can make so many different looks with both, but I think Beethoven might be better to make brown pop, they usually do say purple is best for brown eyes.

I have dark brown eyes and I don't find any problems with using the blue. It can be used either subtly or more dramatically, so you can definitely play around to see what works for you. If you are thinking about a green palette, well then it just comes down to personal preference. The blue won't do a disservice to your eyes, and brown eyes look good in mostly anything!

I to am a fan of the urban decay shadows especially the ammo palette! The Beethoven palette is a little more toned down when it comes to the actual colors but is the same pigmentation value as the urban decay. (some of them are even a little bit better) Personally I think that the Kat Von D line is a little more affordable and a lot easier to travel with. I really recommend buying and experimenting with at least one palette.

I use both Kat von D and Urban Decay. Both are extremely pigmented and last well, and both have gorgeous colors. If I had to pick just one brand, I would choose Kat von D's because of the extra silkiness and the fact that many of her shades are more flattering on the eye. I feel her shades are easier to apply and get special effects with also. I don't use my Urban Decay quite as much now that I have her palettes. If you're a real eye make-up maven, I think you'll be happy with Kat's shadows.

All of these palettes are very versatile and could work with any eye/hair color, and skin tone. They all also work for creating dramatic or not so dramatic looks. If you're a bit scared to jump right in with the purples, and richer colors I would suggest trying the Ludwig palette. It has wonderful shades of green and browns that you can mix together to create a look to make your green eyes pop. They are also subtle enough if you want a more demure look, but are also vibrant enough to give you that little extra pow if you're looking for something a bit more edgy. Hope this helps, good luck!

Hi! I recommend starting with a small amount on your brush. Don't use the brush that came with the kit for blending, it works best as just an eyeliner brush. Get a good brush and add a little to it at a time. One swipe or two will do. Tap off the excess shadow, and just build up. You can use the color Tequila to blend with the blue to keep it light as well. Hope this helps, and good luck!
