Questions & Answers for Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Beethoven

Question
Will this palette work with blue eyes?
I have (very) dark blue/grey eyes. I know that browns and earth tones go best with blue, but I'm not sure about blue shadows with blue eyes. I love the colours on this palette but I don't know if it will suit me. Any other blue eyes out there know if it works?

I have dark blue/grey eyes too!! I have this palette and LOVE it! I used the blues the other day and did a dark smokey blue look, and it brought out the blue in my eyes even more, so i deff reccommend this palette for you!

as a blue eyed gal, i was torn between Beethoven and Ludwig. i chose the Beethoven and i am so glad i did. purples are beautiful with blue eyes, and are a great change from the normal gray or brown smokey eye i have been sticking to. there is only one blue shadow in the palette, and i have been using it to add a pop of color as a liner on my lower lash line. blue eyed girls will LOVE beethoven; dont be afraid!

This would look awesome with any eye color. Dont be afraid to go bold with your blue eyes. I would use the silver over the whole lid and the blue in the crease. Other than that I would avoid using the blue. You should be fine using the rest of the colors any way you want.

if you have blue eyes, I would avoid blue shadows because of it being all one color. You might want to go for the Ludwig palette, there are greens and golden bronze colors that will help make your eyes pop.

Hi Blue Eyes

Just wanted to offer a girlie suggestion in regard to your question about the blue-on-blue factor. I was a make-up artist for years and found ways to incorporate any eye color into the palette. If you use the blues as an accent color or partial lining color, you will do fine. You are so right about browns/camels being good for blue eyes. Purples are great too...

I hope the answer helps you just a little! Good luck with the shadows and have a great day!

Do you have the Ludwig palette already? The bronze tones are really great with blue eyes. I use every color in Ludwig, and all but Rad purple and speed blue in Beethoven. Rad p and Spd b might be ok, just have always avoided blue shadows - not the look I like.

Never really tried using it as a base--I prefer the Urban Decay Primer Potion in SIN as my "eyebase"/"primer".....but I have used the light yellowish shade "Tequila" as my brow-bone "highlight"....!

Using tequila as a base will give your eyeshadow the shimmery look. It can also be used to highlight and lighten up eyeshadow if you accidently get it too dark.

Tequila is the color you's uses as a highlight color under your brow bone. these eyeshdhows a powedrt not a cream so I'd get a real base like urban decay primer potion.

All the colors are very versatile and blendable. Tequila is a matte very pale yellow, the color is not sheer. Worked as a base for me, I'm very fair skinned.

I like to use it as the lighter shade on the inner part of my eyelid. It holds its color very well, so if you wanted to and could pull it off with your skin color, than yeah, you could use it as a base. I usually blend the leather(brown) and lucifer(black) on the 2/3 of my outer lid then blend the tequila on the 1/3 of the inner lid and somewhat into the leather and lucifer blend I used before. It's a great color!

yes! i have had lots of trouble with my Urban Decay shadows arriving from sephora & looking 5shades darker in person than they did on the site, but this is a great shot of the KVD palette colors. they are in a different order in the palette though, the purples & the brown shade are jumbled. but it is great!

I have hazelish green eyes too and I honestly wear all of the colors but the ones that make your eyecolor "pop" the most would probably be the lavenders, purples, and even some of the brown or gold hues. Hope that helps. :D

I am green eyed and the colors work well for me. Hazel eyes are very nice and this should really bring out that color. The purples in tihs palette are great and I would guess purple is your color. The Ludwig palette would go well with your eyes too but the rock n roll colors in tihs palette woul really bring out your eye color. Good luck :-)

you're very lucky to have hazel eyes! that color goes amazingly well with just about anything. this palette with really make those eyes pop out, especially if you do some darker shadow blending in the crease and outer rim. don't forget to highlight under the brows!!! the other palette will work just as well, but i myself am partial to dark smoky eyes so i say go for it!

Definitely a powder. Expect some fallout if using a lot of color. (Though the finishes are slightly different- glittery and matte mostly.)

I am not 100% about these products being cruelty free but I would think they are because Kat is for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and Kat Von D said in a magazine "I would rather tattoo naked than wear fur". I hope this helps answer your question.

i contacted Sephora's customer service team regarding this issue.

their response:
"Our private label brand Sephora Brand is cruelty free (meaning that the products have never been tested on animals). The Kat Von D collection is a part of the Sephora private label."

I'm sure they are knowing that Kat is an animal activist herself, I'm sure she doesn't test them on animals. but it doesn't say it on any of her products...I'm sure she doesn't though.

The only thing I would double check on is the Squalene. It could be a plant based derivative, but there's a good chance that it's not since most squalene is derived from shark liver oil.

I am so sorry, I was answering your question and I got cut off. I hope the tip about sensitive eyes and brushes got through!Anyway, I am still not sure if t is Vegan because I don't know where the sources come from. Ingredients :Zinc Sterate,Squalene(which could be Plant derived)Dimethicone,Silica,Lauroyl Lysine,Glyceryl Caprilate,Lecithin,Potossium Sorbate,Phenoyethanol, a couple of shades may have mineral oil or iron oxide or titinium dioxde in very small amounts or in the green a small amount of chromium oxide green to enhance the color. and at the end of the list bismuth oxychloride which is in most all naturally based mineral loose makeup. I hope this helps, it doesn't seem to be non-vegan except if the squalene is not plant based. I have VERY sensitive eyes and LOVE this line and have no problems. You might try one of the single (duo) compact and see how you do. It really is a great line. Good luck! and Best of wishes!

Which Kat Von D eyeshadow palette works best with dk brn eyes
Would this one work the best with drk brwn eyes, (I'm mainly asking about the blue....), because I've noticed that a blue/green tone either works or it doesn't. Is this better choice than a palette with greens?

Hey, your beautiful, gorgous! I think your eyes look fine just the way they are with that style of makeup on. Here is the way i put on my makeup, which I also think will look great on you. Send me a pic!:
1. Cover the whole eyelid with Lucifer.
2. Blend in Tequila with Lucifer just below the crease of your eye.
3. On the corners of your eye, spread Leather on with a V pattern.
4. And last but not least, dot the end of your V with Speed Blue. From that tip you can make a cat-eye, if you disire.
Hope this helps!

The Ludwig palette has the colors you like and its also got greens that I love. Im green eyed and have all of Kat Von D's palettes and Ludwig sounds like what you are looking for. You might want to check out the Metal Orchaestra palette too. Its array of silvers is awesome! Silver looks great with blue eyes.

I'd say to go with the Ludwig palette. The colors are more neutral and easy to work with. However, if you usually carry a lot of color on your lids well the Beethoven palette might be more fun to play with. Less natural looking of course, and also more dramatic and dark. Ludwig might be the way to go though since you have fair skin (as do I, and the Beethoven palette sometimes looks too dark on me.)
