Questions & Answers for Perricone MD Serum Prep

Question
Does Serum Prep allow me to skip the serum?
I'm closing in on 45, and have decided to take the Perricone MD plunge. However, I'm on a tight budget. I've read all the rave reviews on this Serum Prep, and while intrigued, I'm frankly confused by the product. I just purchased the Face Finishing Moisturizer...is the combination enough, or do I also need an actual serum? $145 seems steep for a "toner".

It just "prep" your skin for the following treatment/ products. I wouldn't skip the "actual serum"

This is meant to make your treatments work better, and it does. This and the Face Finishing moisturizer are not enough. There are morning and evening treatments that should go between the two products. I love the High Potency products. This line is pricey, but it works.

No, this is a water consistency, meant to sink completely into the skin. Helps absorb other treatments.

seekformerme - I'm not currently using a serum either, but I use the Serum Prep before putting on my moisturizer. If your current routine is working fine, then there's no need to buy a serum (unless you want to). I agree, it's pricey, but I like the way it makes my skin feel. After I cleanse my skin, I put some Serum Prep on a cotton pad and apply it all over my face and neck. My skin looks matte and feels tighter/firmer, but without feeling overly dry. The application instructions say to saturate a cotton pad, but I don't think you need to use a lot in order for the product to work---same with the other Perricone MD products. A little goes a long way.

What does this do? Seems pricey..
I am trying to figure out what justifies the price of this item. Can someone explain the results and benefits they have experienced? A result timeframe perhaps?

I am 50 years old and it was time to try new products so I Tried them all. This product, OVM and cold plasma for face is all I need. My face has never looked younger or felt better. I JUST ADD TOUCH ECLAT and no make up needed except for eye and I love it. People seriously ask if I had work done. I use cold plasma orbital eye and Boscia eye treatment too...

My treatments and moisturizer are much easier to apply when I use this, and it instantly tightens the skin. I balked at the price, but it is worth it. I will never be without it. It should last a while because it is 6 ounces, and you only apply a little each time as it is used like a toner.

I have started using this about 2 weeks now, along with the ceramic skin smoother. I love this because I felt it working right away and saw results in my neck and jaw line firming in a few days. Yes I will agree with the cost. It would be nice if it was a little cheaper. I have found I can get the saves using oil olay moister creams instead of more expensive ones.

This is great if you use after a cleanser but before a moisturizer. I use this before Perricone Cold Plasma. The combination of the two does wonders for my skin, although it's costly.

It works better if you buy the finishing moisturizer. It preps your skin to take in all the products u r using. Alone it wont do anything of substance!

I used the serum prep in combination with the other products, and found that it just made me break out. I stopped using the other products, and I still like the serum prep. According to their info, the serum prep has a higher concentration of active ingredients than do their other products. So in conclusion, it helps the other products go on smoother, but I find it's not even necessary to complement it with other products besides, of course, a moisturizer. (I recommend the moisturizer from Perricone's sensitive skin line (green jar), which is less greasy).

Serum Prep should be used after you wash your face. This is a "toner", so you dont need both. Use it before your Moisturizer or treatment serums:-)

People usually refer to this as the toner, and indeed it is applied as one. I found that it works just as well as the other, more expensive products in the line, and it doesn't break me out as much because it's so light and not as heavily fragranced. I've read that you don't need a toner if the cleanser you use is pH-balanced.

Question
Anyone experience burning eyes?
Although on a tight budget, I recently took the plunge and started using products from the Perricone MD line. Due to some health issues, I've aged quite a bit in the past couple of years and it's bothering me deeply. I'll be 45 next month. After reading all the rave reviews here, I'd been considering splurging on the Serum Prep. In spite of the fact that I can't image spending this much for a toner. Well, desperate to look good for a special event this June, I broke down today and headed to my local Sephora. Problem - after trying out my new find, my eyes and nose are burning like crazy!! Help! I so wanted this to work. Has anyone else had this issue? Will I "adjust" to it, if so? I'm so disappointed. :(

I haven't experienced any bad reactions to the Serum Prep. How did you apply the product? If you put the Serum Prep on a cotton pad, it's not necessary to put so much that the cotton pad is soaking wet. Have you used the product again? Did you still have the burning sensation in your eyes and nose?

Yikes! I have had that kind of skin too! I don't think it's sold here but a product that has helped me a lot is roche posay effaclar, also retin-a.. it is specifically for oily sensitive skin. Not cheap but works. Nice drug stores have it or online. Also the terminator by acne free (micronized benzoyl peroxide), use it on the clogged areas only. Use purified water when you rinse your face not tap (chlorine and those byproducts could be worsening your skin as they did mine). Be careful of all products you put on your skin (korres are awesome too for primers and lotions). It will take time to break up the clogs but if you persist with the roche posay or something similar it WILL get better. Wash your pillow case often !(rosacea is a side effect of skin mites -- some people lack enzymes to break down skin mite excretions - and we all have skin mites!) Also eat a good diet with enough fatty acids and vitamins (walnuts, green vegetables, salmon etc). Really helps!

Question
Will this help with non-Perricone products?
I have heard wonderful things about this and would like to try it, but I have a serum and moisturizer I already love (not Perricone). Based on reviews people love this product but they have a Perricone regimen... Will it help me if I don't use other Perricone products?

Question
Sample in VIB Appreciation Bag??
Was this product included as a sample in the VIB bag a couple months ago? I threw the sample away after using it and forgot what exactly it was. All I remember was that it had _______MD as the brand and that it was some sort of serum.

Other products included in the bag were: Clarins Multi-Active Serum, The Youth Moisture Cream, Phyto hair baume, Sephora mascara, etc.

Thanks!

Blue Plasma acts as more of an exfoliant. It is not harsh at all. Serum Prep enhances the performance/results of the other Perricone products. The Serum Prep makes a huge difference in the firmness of my skin. It tightens everything. very well. I use the Blue Plasma at night and the Serum Prep in the morning. I love both products.

I tried Blue Plasma for over a month and it did nothing so I returned it. I am 50 years old and the last 2 months have tried all Perricone products.I I currently use this, OVM and Cold Plasma for face. Cold Plasma D for neck and chest and chin and cold plasma orbital eye and Boscia Restorative eye treatment for eyes. Touche Éclat and eye makeup and out the door I go. People ask me if I have had work done..I look better now than I ever did.
