Questions & Answers for Clarins UV Plus Day Screen High Protection SPF 40

Question
Can I use this around my eyes?
Do I need a separate sunscreen for my eyes, or will this work just as well? I'm considering Shiseido's Sun Protection Eye Cream, but it's quite pricey for such a small tube.

Yes, you can use this around eyes. It is very gentle. I used Shiseido Sun Protection Eye Cream for a couple years and just recently switched to Clarins. I think I like this one better in general because of the high SPF and it feels lighter. But I will probably go back to Shiseido on the days I go to the beach or near water because Shiseido sun protection series are all water-resistent.

I put it all over my face, wherever you'd put moisturizer. I wear contacts and have had no issues.

Question
In what order to you put on the sunscreen? Before or after your primer? or moisturizer...
Okay, so you have your primer, moisturizer, and sunscreen.... Primer goes first usually... so does the sunscreen replace the moisturizer?

I put moisturizer, sunscreen and primer accordingly. Basically you apply the most important benefit you need from the product closest to your skin and since primer is intended for making your make-up go on smoothly and look flawless on your skin, therefore, it goes last on your face before applying the make up. Moisturize with moisturizer, protect with sunscreen and prime with primer.

I was told by a Clarins beauty technician that it was oil-free. I have used it for over 6 months now (the bottle has lasted me very long) and I wear it everyday after moisturizing. I have not broken out and I have very oily skin. Not all oils are bad for your skin though, if that's what you're worried about. You do need hydration. But this product is great.

Nowhere on the packaging does this product mention being 100% oil-free. I was wondering the same thing myself, since I break out easily from oil-based products, and went into a Sephora to check it out. The men's version specifically states that it's oil-free, but not this version. According to the salesgirl, it apparently used to be oil-free, but this is a new packaging and possibly a new formulation, and it no longer states outright that it's oil-free. The ingredient list didn't include any obvious oils, but it's most likely not a complete 100% oil-free product.

At this time our stores in Canada do not have this item available, but you may want to check with them directly for future availability. We are able to ship this item to Canada.
While sensitivity can vary from person to person, it is unlikely that most people will experince a negative reaction from this item. In addition, it is a super lightweight veil, so it would be a great choice for your skin type.

Question
Clarins vs. Shiseido sunscreen
I've been considering purchasing the Shiseido sunscreen but came across the Clarins. Shiseido's is higher in SPF, but that's not going to matter if it irritates my skin. I have normal to dry skin and it's fairly sensitive. Anybody tried both and thought one was better than the other?

I've only tried Clarins and I swear by it. I never leave home without it on. I tend to have sensitive skin so I am really careful with what I put on my face and Clarins does the job without irritating my skin. I LOVE it.

Yes. It also has white tea extract in it, which works in two ways. White tea (as well as green, black & red teas) contain anti-inflamitory qualities, as well as having anti-bacterial properties.

I've never had a problem with it, and my skin is pretty darn sensitive.
