Questions & Answers for LAVANILA Vanilla Coconut Fragrance

Question
Is it possible to get a sample before spending $$? Tx!
I am new to Sephora (only smelled a friend's vanilla cupcake bodywash), and am looking not only for bodywash, but for a vanilla-scented perfume. I'd like to try samples before plunking down any cash so I don't add to the clutter in the bathroom or dresser of more unused products!
Thank you so much!

Sephora stores will give you samples if you ask. I doubt they'll mail samples to you, but if you go in a store, just ask them. They'll give you foundation, lotion, perfume...all kinds of samples.

Oh my goodness you have come to the right place! If you go to the store, ask any of the helpful salespeople for a sample, voila! You have it to try at home. ASK!

If you have a Sephora "brick and mortar" store accessible, the staff can make you a sample of practically anything in the store, and they are happy to. I get perfume samples often for exactly the reason you described. And they are pretty generous-- so you can use it quite a few times. They usually limit you to 3 different samples per visit.

At Sephora, always ask for samples even if there are not any on displays. I also like to ask for samples of lotions and perfumes before I buy them. Sephora has been very helpful with supplying samples.

Question
Why are the deodorant reviews on the perfume review page
I am soooooo confused! I clicked on the fragrence, not the deodorant, yet the majority of the reviews are for the deodorant, not the fragrance. I know this line makes a deodorant, but I wanted reviews for the fragrance.

I think the reason they are together is that they are often worn together. I always wear the vanilla coconut deodorant with the vanilla coconut fragrance. Likewise, I do the same with the pure vanilla.

The vanilla coconut fragrance is delicious and very natural smelling- not a sickly sweet coconut. The rollerball is perfect because the scent is best for use just during spring or summer- it really smells tropical and vacation inspired.

I don't know why they are on the same page but I can tell you that I have tried the perfumes and really like them for their freshness and natural scent. The only downside is that they don't last too long. The grapefruit is the freshest, crispest scent. The lavender is my least favorite although it is not unpleasant. I love the vanilla and vanilla coconut..

It's great! Go to the store to smell them all, but try one on a wrist and walk about a bit to see if it changes on you to something you are not found of. Otherwise, they have a sample box or all the fragrances, and they make great gifts at Christmas for last minute get-togethers, stocking stuffers, or office gifts.

I can tell you why I did it...I wasn't aware that this was not the deoderant until AFTER I wrote the review. I don't have a lot of time to spare, so I just submitted it anyhow, hoping that whoever read it would realize I was talking about deoderant, not perfume. I didn't evcen know Lavanilla had anything but deodorant!!! :-)

LaVanilla perfumes aren't noticeably tropical, but they do tend to blend well with other perfumes (particularly Vanilla Coconut). I suggest seeking out a L'Occitane or Comptoir Sud Pacifique (which Sephora carries) scent to blend with. Sephora will give you a sample of any scent they have in store to take home and try out for a few days... you could mix and match!

To answer your question can you layer over Lavanila yes. If you would like to experience a less sweet scent and add more of a fruity scent. I would dab were you wear your perfume first a favorite scented oil. Maybe try watermelon or strawberry, even pachouli would add what your looking for. Enjoy..

In my experience, most of the Lavanila products layer well with one another. But every person's body chemistry is different, so I'd suggest testing it out one evening while you're staying in, just to see how it works on you.

Yes, it DOES have a yellowish tinge. All the different LaVanillas have a particular tinge and it doesn't harm them at all. It's the way they are made.

I bough the set of four small rollerball bottles. Mine were clear, no yellow tinge. When I have seen them on the shelves at Sephora they were always clear. If I were you I would exchange them because that does make it sound as though they are old and in that case the scent might be a bit off.

The perfume, or more specifically, the vanilla oil in the perfume, absorbs light and will darken over time. It's normal and shouldn't affect the scent of the perfume, but it's always a good idea to store your fragrances out of direct sunlight, as they will last longer and smell fresher. The molecules in perfume are very fragile and are broken down by UV light so keeping them in a cabinet or drawer keeps them smelling the way they did when you purchased them. They should really print that info on the box!!!

Yes, it's normal. Natural vanilla is going to develop a beige tinge, naturally. Most of the perfumes on the market use chemicals which help them stay clear. Mine started off clear and I was actually disappointed by that because I expected the "natural" qualities to show through...it did develop the yellowish color as the bottle aged.

Question
Is this scent "sweet"? Would you consider fruity or floral?
Looking for a fragrance that is light, not too heavy, sweet. I do prefer fruity over floral. I live in Florida and work in a beachy boutique, and looking for a clean, light scent to blend nicely with my Pure Fiji hydrating body lotion. I most recently started wearing Fresh Sugar Lychee that is very lovely but just looking for something that I can alternate with.

I would consider this scent a floral, sweet scent. The first note is almost a light jasmine note that warms down to the vanilla coconut. I've owned the roller ball and the spray and it is still one of my favorites...the downside is the scent doesn't last too long but it is still overall a good product with no harsh additives

I love this scent and everyone who smells me seems to love it too! While I find the plain vanilla more floral, the coconut is more food-like (but not in a cloying way). It's just warm and comforting and nice!

The typical shelf-life of any fragrance (not sure about pure perfume) is between one to three years. It is recommended that you keep fragrance bottles away from direct sunlight and away from high temperatures. I usually keep mine tucked between clothes in my walk-in closet or my drawer. Hope that helps!

The rollerball is the perfume, the roll on oil is a concetrated oil, it is actually oily but quickly absorbed. I feel that the fragrance oil lasts a lot longer, especially in warmer months/climates when sprays/perfumes can evaporate from the skin quickly.
