Sephora Brand Mineral Double Compact Foundation SPF 10

What it is:A mineral-based pressed powder foundation. What it does:This silky foundation provides buildable coverage and protects skin with an SPF 10, while the long-wearing formula creates a luminous finish. Tested in order to minimize the risk of allergy, our mineral foundation is talc-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free, oil-free, and noncomedogenic. Use the dual-sided sponge to achieve your desired look: the fuzzy white side for light coverage, or the black spongy side for full coverage. What else you need to know: The "R" and the "D" in the shade name reflects Sephora's French background. The "R" stands for Rose (pink) and is for those with cool undertones. The "D" stands for Dore (gold) and is for those with warm or yellow undertones. This dual-layer compact also contains a mirror, for touch-ups on the go.Size: 0.35 oz

I actually have this foundation in the same shade as you do, and love it. I apply it dry and it goes on beautifully. As the instructions for this product say, use the white side for light, sheer coverage or use the black side to achieve fuller coverage.

I would suggest using a foundation brush and applying this dry. I don't even bother with the sponge. Sephora has a inexpensive clear case travel brush kit that I use in conjunction with this product.

This foundation as a light cream base to it, it goes on smoother than a pressed powder. Therefore I apply it exactly as is.

When applied wet, I thought it appeared "chalky" as it dried. Don't over-apply. Dry worked best for me.

I use the white side of the sponge and I just pat the powder on my face dry. I have never tried using this foundation wet but using it dry works just fine!

Since the sponge that comes with this foundation is non-absorbant, I suggest you use a different sponge, cotton ball or foundation brush to apply wet. Just scrape a little dry powder onto a plate, add a little water, and BINGO!

Also, I am a liquid-foundation person as well, but have been using this powder for 18 months because of my skin type. The less you use the better, and in the end, the powder is better then a liquid. It doesn't absorb into the skin as much and it really is wonderful as-is!
Good luck, I hope this helps!

I've never tried to apply it wet b/c usually applying any make up wet makes it thick and it being a powder you don't want it to look like a mask. Instead, use full and round brush and apply it in a circular motion. For more coverage, repeat the process. I usually only apply it once or twice and it lasts me most of the day.

Take all the compacts and bottles of foundations you may have in your makeup drawer. Look at all their "undertones" in natural light. You know which tones you keep going back to. Use the "R" and "D" Sephora smartly provides and choose a shade near your favorites...or a shade lighter to be safe! You can always add colour, but once you've worn a shade too dark, you can't take it away!

You should always go to the store to see if the color matches your face. I have wasted so much money guessing my shade and purchasing items without testing them. I know your questions states you can't go to the store but you really should - you don't want your neck and face to be a different color.

The shades that has a "R" in it makes your face pinkish. I think it is ok for light undertones, it doesn't look good if you are medium tan undertone. I am asian and I have a yellowish olive tan skin color so I use the ones that has a "D" in it.

I look at the shades available and compare to what I already use, remember that the colors appear darker than they go on. If you have light skin of course you would use the lighter colors and for medium to olive skin you can use anywhere from D25-D35 depending on how dark you are. I like the D colors because no pink in them, but if you use a color now that has pink in it then order the C colors. Mimi2u

This is a really tricky question. Based on what I had seen online, I had my shade basically picked out, but when I got to the store, it was completely wrong. I would call the Sephora customer service number and ask to speak with a beauty expert if you absolutely CAN'T get into the store to look!

I would go with a color that is close to your natural undertones...pinky/olive/dark etc. Also keep in mind that summer is coming to an end and if you are like me your skin has already lightened quite a bit.

That is tough. If you have olive skin by D shades, if you don't tan but get some color in the summer I would go for about a 30, maybe lighter.

Your makeup shade should be based upon your skintone, not on your hair color alone. Generally, brunettes who are not super-fair tend to have netural or warm undertones, so it might be best to choose a color with a bit of yellow to it, as opposed to pink. Look for the shade closest to your natural skin tone, and err to the lighter shade if you're torn between two. Makeup usually looks darker in-person compared to online, can go on darker when applied, and may oxidize throughout the day.
Good luck finding your shade!

I would have to say the best shade of foundation for your face would be a warm or like beige, because you are a brunette with olive skin. I think that would look great on you!

I have light olive skin and the first I used I ordered D35 warm tan but I was really dark from tanning and it was perfect. Now that my tan has faded I ordered D25 warm beige and it is great, does not take alot of product to use. Color does not turn orange on skin and wears all day. Hope this helped. MIMI2U

D shades are the way to go for olive skin. In the summer (I don't tan either) I use D30 so I would just go a shade or two lighter in the winter.

No, you can use a sponge if you want, however, I personally think the product looks best applied with a brush, it is more even, and easier to customize how heavy you apply it.

I had a problem getting the right color (I'm a redhead with brown eyes who tans!)... I would advise going in to a store and getting a consultant to help you choose the right color. Actually the consultant was really unsure about the color that ended up matching right up until she blended into my jawline!

Buy cool if your skin has more of a pink tint to it and warm if your skin has more of a yellow undertone. What color is your skin when you just wake up? Im a light warm, the D25, caucasion with brown (dyed blonde) hair but can tell Im a warm tone by the skin that isnt out in the sun.

You know if your a cool undertone or a warm undertone by looking at your skin. If your skin has more of a pinkish pigment then your a cool undertone Look for makeup with the R label. However, if your skin has more of a gold yellowish color then your considered to have yellow or warm Undertones. Look for makeup with D label. If your still confused stop by one of the sephora stores near you and one of the workers will be glad to help you! They are super friendly and are willing to help! They can swatch samples on you to make sure you've got the right color! I hope this helped you! Good Luck!

warm foundations hide the red, so you would want one with a D. If you put R on it could just accentuate the red in your skin. I have a lot of red in my skin and I would not call my skin olive. I have light skin with a lot of red and warm foundations (D in sephora) do the trick to take away the red. I wear D25

Can I get refill sponges for the Mineral Double Compact Foundation SPF 10 compact?
There's no way the (double sided) sponge that comes with is going to last as long as the compact, not to mention it would be unsanitary to keep using it. And who has time to clean it every few days? Help!

i actually like using a brush instead of the sponge! the sponge didn't last very long and so i just bought a brush titled, "the complexion 53." it doesn't take long to clean and you only have to clean it every once in a while! i didn't pay too much for it and it's also big enough to cover large areas of my face evenly without having to reapply a ton of powder!

Clients with Rosacea have a much more complexity to their tones because most of the time it is not all over the skin. I would really stress that you visit the nearest sephora store and receive a free complementary consultation in order to get the perfect match.
