The One is a warm, oriental floral, with modern sensuality - a fragrance with a strong personality, and a contrasting golden sweetness. Created for the ultimate diva, The One is at once tempting, modern, and glamorous, embracing a touch of classicism. The top notes radiate a vibrant luminosity, with a sun-touched citrus, while warm fruity notes of luscious lychee and succulent peach add to the delight. The passionate heart evokes an exploding femininity, with an opulent floral soul, creating a distinct, audacious signature. An unexpected hint of plum glows as the base finally blooms with luscious allure into the lasting warmth of vanilla and sweetened ambery-musk notes.Notes:Bergamot, Mandarin, Lychee, Peach, Madonna Lily, Muguet, Plum, Jasmine, Vetiver, Vanilla, Amber, Musk.Style:Tempting. Modern. Glamorous.

Question
Is it more for younger or older women?

I would say that D&G's The One (parfum) is more suitable for a woman age 35 or older. It's sophisticated and smells like money/wealth. That's the best way I can describe it. The fragrance says "I have good taste and I can afford the best". That's the best way I can describe it. On the other hand, it has a very romantic softness to it which might be compatible with a younger woman's attitude... if she has a somewhat mature or selective approach to romance. In that case, the parfum might say, "You'll have to work to get me, but I'm worth it." ; >

I'd describe the scent as sophisticated and sultry. Not sure age should be a factor in choosing a perfume; for me it's more about attitude and state of mind.

I think it's for older women. It smells too powdery (like baby powder) and like a grandmother's cologne.

Either--I am older and i like it a lot. However, my daughter in law, who is in her 20's also really, REALLY loves it.

It's definitely not a teenager scent. I'm 26 and love it and I can see women in their 30s, 40s + loving it too...not so much the youngins.

I think women of all ages could wear this, but if pressed, I'd say it's geared more toward younger women. It's definitely not an "old lady" smell at all.

i think it's good for all ages as long as you don't over do it. if you're older and put too much, people will think that you're trying to be younger and vice versa. that will not be good. two spritz is enough :)

I say older...as opposed to a gal in her early twenties. At thirty, I have more confidence in my sensuality (and self in general). Don't think I could have pulled this off ten years ago.

Younger or older....works both ways. A hot momma, or a mature 20 year old could pull this off. It's all about attitude and what you enjoy smelling like, not worring about what the boys think.

Difference between the one and l'eau the one
What is the difference between these two perfumes?

L'eau the one is supposed to be a fresher version. L'eau the one has a tangerine note (instead of the mandarin orange in this one) and has an extra note of oakmoss in the base.

answer 3
neither of these two have more fragrance oil than the other,as they are both parfums which is a fragrance with a higher concentration of the perfumed oils. if one had a lesser amount of these oils it would be a lighter fragrance and therefore called a toilette. l' eau the one is lighter in scent not because of a lesser concentration, but beacause of a few differing fragrance notes than the original the one.

i own both of these parfums and to me l' eau seems a bit fresher or 'lighter' they really do smell almost exactly the same. i feel as though theyve tweeked just a few of the fragrance notes. if you like deep incensey, rich, musk type scents go with gold. if you usually prefer fresh greens or flowery type notes try l' eau. honestly you wont be dissapointed with either. truly luxurious!

In my experience (and keep in mind that every perfume smells differently on every person), L'eau the One is a lighter, slightly more fruity variation of the original. They both smell lovely, and the difference isn't very noticeable to most people, so it's just a matter of personal tastes. I'd suggest getting a take home sample of each from your local Sephora store.

Question
Is the sample for men??
I selected the sample of Dolce & Gabbana The One with an order recently, thinking it was a men's cologne. I gave it to my husband to try and we both LOVE it; however, when I went to order it I realized that there is one for men and one for women. I don't want to order the wrong one, as the sample does not say "for men" on it, but I guess my question is this: are there any men out there who have worn the "women's" fragrance? It smells sort of masculine to me, but I don't want to order the "men's" if it smells completely different.

I had the same question/ problem!
I LOVED the sample. It DIDNT say "for men". But when I looked up my order history, which lists the free samples , it DID say that I chose( and Sephora sent) the gentlemen's cologne.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! But I just may try the women's rollerball too!

I remember smelling the men's version and thinking women who like unisex scents would probably go for the man's version too. The women's version is a spicy floral and very feminine so I don't really think a man would go for that, in my opinion. There are descriptions of the "notes" on on the testers, so I would think a Sephora rep could give you a list over the phone from one of their stores. I hope you get the one (no pun intended!) that you're looking for.

My husband and I both wear the One. His is muskier and a heavier scent. My is lighter and more "vanilla sweet?' They are in the same family but distinctive difference. If your sample says "Por Homme" it's for men, otherwise it's ladies.

answer 5
The men's cologne is definitely muskier and the women's perfume is more floral and sweeter. It's a matter of preference. My guy friends who like sweeter and more floral fragrances wear women's perfume and my girlfriends who prefer muskier scents wear men's cologne.

If it does not say "for men", then it should be the women's perfume. I think that the men's perfume simply is more woody and has less fruity and floral undertones than the women's. However, the scents are very similar, though the men's is definitely stronger.
I have heard of women who wear men's cologne, so I don't see much of a problem with a man wearing women's perfume. Your husband definitely could wear the One if he wanted to, but I suggest that you check your local Sephora store and smell both, just in case he ends up liking the men's version better. Good luck!

L'eau the One is a lighter, slightly less floral scent with more fruity notes. It definitely is lighter and does not last longer. The One is stronger and bolder, while L'eau the One is subtler and more refined.

If you like a more subtle scent, or often spritz yourself NUMEROUS times it's suggest L'eau The One. If you're a regular perfume wearing, 1-2 spritzes (neck and wrists, etc) I'd suggest the Parfume. Warmer, sexier and lingers longer.

Question
I am looking for a comparison?
I used to wear ILBACIO by Marcella Borghese. I am wondering if this scent is similar. Does anyone know? I have not smelled The One so I am curious about what it compares to since it was recommended to me by Sephora.

Look at the notes in the perfume. On the page for each fragrance on the Sephora website they give all of the various notes in a fragrance. Look for something that has notes like those you like. There are also websites like Fragrantica and Basenotes that help you learn about perfumes that are similar. Also, you can ask to test it at your local Sephora store.

Another Il Bacio fan here - I LOVED that scent! Although it is not "just like" Il Bacio I would put The One in the same general category of warm, sensual, and multi-noted and would say they both also have a high-end blend that smells classy and is long-lasting without being overpowering. Maybe try the rollerball if you're not sure.

Nothing like Il Baccio, which is sweeter and longer lasting. The D&G is disappointing, as it does not last as long and is very powdery...like baby powder or grandma's cologne. Stick to Il Baccio.

I used to use Il Bacio and loved it. Unfortunately, I don't see the similarity to The One. Il Bacio was bolder, spicier, and powdery. The One is warm and fruity with a faint hint of vanilla.
