Liquid vs. power formulation

I have the Dior Forever Liquid Foundation and I love it. Can anyone tell me that is the difference between this powder foundation and the Forever liquid foundation (e.g. the finish, oil control, coverage, etc.)? Which one is better? Thanks!

one thing i have noticed is that powder works best on oily skin, oily dry skin but not dry skin. Liquid foundation works best for dry skin, it kind off balances out. I tried the liquid and I felt it emphasized my acne scars, but the powder works just fine. It's all about what works for you!!!

Hi,
I absolutely love the powder, but found the liquid broke me out and looked unnatural. The liquid shades were more pink-toned too. I have 28-year old extreme combination skin that is acne prone and the powder gives me no problems whatsoever. It's a semi-matte finish. I blot about once a day with the powder and with most foundations I do about 3-4 times. In a nutshell, the powder is great for sensitive skin and a natural look, whereas the liquid would likely suit older, dryer, less acne-prone skin. Hope this helps!

right now i have the dior forever liquid foundation, but i was thinking about switching over to the compact. do you think it'd be better coverage & easier to use? or do you use both? like liquid in the morning and compact for touch-ups? or maybe liquid for night outs and compact for daily use? or are they pretty much the same? what do you think~!

i have both. for me, the liquid gives more coverage. the powder gives full covergae but looks more natural. i have combination skin and both formulas work very well. the liquid takes more time to blend as where the powder just blends immediately. i if you have time to blend and like to use a foundation brush, then the liquid would be a good choice. however, if you need a foundation that can be applied very quickly with very little blending, then i would recommend the powder. both have a natural, matte/dewey finish. i LOVE both but the powder formula is the absolute best foundation i have ever used and i have tried just about everything.

my skin is best classified as "combination" and i am prone to occasional breakouts. i have never had a problem with the diorskin making it worse. if anything, it mattifies my skin longer than other powders i have tried.

Defenetly Not!!! I thought it would because I allways assumed it was heavy make up but I was so shocked of how good this product is, it feels light weigh it does not feel thick or pasty, it defenetly dosent clog your pores, Its good quality stuff defenetly worth the money

i have an oily t-zone and sometimes get breakouts on my chin area. this makeup hasnt caused any breakouts that i can see...if anything, i think it has actually soothed and improved the condition of my skin. also, i wear tarte clean slate primer underneath and this combination has made my skin look better than it ever has. hope this helps!

I was told that all Dior foundation shades follow these guidelines:
Look at the last digit to determine neutral/yellow/pink/peach tone:
ones that end with 0s (e.g. 010, 100) are neutral,
1s (e.g. 011, 201) are more yellow,
2s are more pink, and
3s are more peachy
Look at the 2nd digit to determine the lightness/darkness.
So 021 should be lighter than 031 and more yellow than 020 if that makes sense

if you are not trying to cover or neutralize the red tones in your skin, then i would go with the lightest shade available. i have light skin with yellow undertones and the linen works beautifully for me. keep in mind that the more yellow the makeup base is, the more it will cancel out reddish tones. the light beige is more neutral based. hope this helps!

You should probably just go into a Sephora store or into a department store that has a Sephora counter and try out different shades. Thats the most sure fire way of determining the exact match. Who knows? You might've gotten more or less tan since the last time you purchased make up. Also, different compositions i.e. powder vs. foundation set on your skin differently and produce different results.
