in my experience, this is the only pencil that stays on my inner rim/lash line until i take it off, with no smudging under the eye. i use it at the lash line, dotting it between lashes, and then a little on the rim and above the rim. it's a thin subtle line with a big effect. i can use this and skip mascara -- same kind of emphasis, but much less irritation. lasts a full 24 hours but comes off easily. and don't you love it that tarte staff read our comments and respond? i do!

Dear tarte product users,

Blue eyes look amazing when lined with black. Also try charcoal for a softer, sexy look!

answer 5
I have blue eyes, and I find that the black is most dramatic in a slightly goth way (since if you have blue eyes, you've probably got fairly light skin as well), but brown is more effective at making the blue stand out. So it depends on whether you're going for dramatic with a bit of intimidating or dramatic with a bit of soulful. I just ordered the plum- magazines say plum liner is good for bringing out brown eyes, but it works fabulously for mine as well.

If you have hazel eyes, I would use the plum if they are more on the greener side. The plum will really pull out the green and make your eyes pop. If your eyes are more brownish, the navy looks so great!! As always you can't go wrong with the black :) Hope I could help!!

Question
oily skin/eyelids
Hi, i like that this product is natural but I have oily lids.I have been using sephora brand waterpoof liner the one with a built in smudger and it fades even with a good eye primer on. will these transfer to my crease, fade or smugde? any suggestions on which liner will work best on oily skin and how does this compare to buxom insider liner and UD 24/7 liner? answer 2
I have oily lids, too. I use a base, then powder, then I apply the Tarte eyeliner. Because the point is so tiny (it never needs sharpening) you can get the line right next to the base of your lashes. If I don't use eye makeup remover, it can last for days. It's not waterproof and you can smudge it. It's the only eyeliner I've used for several years. You access it by twisting the pencil into a tiny point, otherwise it'll snap and you'll waste it. The only problem is you cannot see how much is remaining of the product. I've used it long enough to know, when the end has arrived, the point breaks. I always keep a spare on hand.

I get super oily lids too, Sometimes I'll use a primer, but that is just too much work on a daily basis... I think this is a great product for using right at the lash line, and I don't seem to have any issue with it transferring. I'll line the tops and bottoms with this in black, then do a thicker line with the UD in a different color. So far no issues.

I have the same problem. This product didn't last at all on me. The best lasting no smudging eyeliner I've found is Urban Decay's 24-7..and they have a great selection of colors.

My eyelids get "oily" looking to after a full day of work/school and the exact problem happened to me. I've tried a lot of eyeliners (even tried expensive ones) to see which eyeliner was best for me; and I found the pencil and gel/creme ones were the best. I tried Sephora's liquid eyeliner and after an hour or so it was a mess, so I never went back to liquid.

Right now I'm using Clinique's gel liner and Urban Decay's 24/7 pencil liner, and also the Tarte eyeliner. I have to say that both the U.D and the Tarte ones are my favorite out of ALL the eyeliner's I've tried (I probably tried out about 10 different eyeliners from different brands).

I usually don't use any eye primer if I'm just using an eyeliner but if I know I would be out in the sun for a long time, I would use it only to be on the safe side. The eye primer that I'm using is the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I also have one from Tarte as well but I hadn't used it enough to give a review on that one, because I'm use to using the UD one.

Also, I realize that if I feather on eyeshadow over the eyeliner, it makes it last longer. It's like using powder to set your foundation. It also help give you a smokey look; and it'll give you a nice softened out look.

Can this product make a thick line as well?

Try using Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner pencil. It has a soft tip so it glides on smoothly without having to apply pressure, and still get a nice dark line. I've been testing eyeliners to see which one are best and I found the UD 24/7 one works great.

Question
Is this safe for tightlining (rimming upper waterline)?
I think a gel eyeliner with an eyeliner brush would be more gentle and work better, but I want to try this because it's so thin!

I tried tightlining with this and it actually hurts. Only because I found this to be hard on my waterlines. You can always acheive a thin eyeliner look with any eyeliner. I use my gel/creme eyeliners for tightlining. My Clinique gel liner worked better than my Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil when it comes to tightlining.

When I used my UD to tightline after a few hours I notice it would fade "down", making me look like I cried for hours; I know it's from the upper waterline cause when I don't tightline (at all) I never got that. My Clinique gel liner lasted me all day with out the fading or smudging. At the end of the day, when I remove my make-up I look as if I just put on my eye make-up.

Therefore, I suggest using this for your lower waterline and a gel/creme eyeliner to tightline. Only because this one hurts and my experience with tightlining with a gel/creme one was better.

This doesn't replace a gel liner and a brush for dramatic eyes, this gives more of a definition to the eye. When I am going to work, use it 1st with a gel liner on top. when I am just around the house, I use it alone.

Hi,

Although this applies easily, I find it doesn't stay on the inner rim. It seems to "disappear" pretty quickly. I wish it stayed longer but it looks good. It does really well as a regular liner. I use it to make a very very thin line to right by my lashes to define my eyes.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Take it to Sephora and have someone take a look at it. I once had a hard pencil liner like that that did weird stuff, and it turned out to be defective. There was a little fragment of something inside the tube, not visible to me, and the product was catching on it, compromising the product "strength" so it kept breaking. When I took it back to Sephora, the consultants were already familar with the problem and they immediately removed the fragment that was stuck. It was fine after that. They even offered to replace it, but not enough had broken off to require that.

Hope this helps.

Can you try evenly heating up the tube a little bit (like with a hair dryer) just so the outside is warm- then let it set back together(I've fixed lipliners before like this) If that doesn't work I would return that should not happen, and I haven't heard of that happening to anyone else.
