Classic Foundation Brush #47

Classic Foundation Brush #47

What it is:This brush applies and blends foundation properly on your features, ensuring that your complexion is evenly and flawlessly covered. What it does:It's all about the shape the tapered, chiseled brush fits the contours of your face and blends formulas seamlessly, and the short handle allows for easy managing as you sweep and swirl. The synthetic bristles won't absorb oils or product, making it the most hygienic way to apply product. In addition to giving the most natural-looking coverage possible, this no-fail design also works wonders with any kind of creamy product, like face creams, masks, and tinted moisturizers.

Question
Do you have to clean the brush after everyuse?
Do you have to clean the brush after every use? I have been reading that most people clean it with shampoo about once a week. Is this right? If you do clean it only once a week, after every use should I at least rinse it?

You can clean your brushes as often as you like to remove bacteria and product. Keeping your brushes clean will also help preserve them.

I'm really really lazy about washing my brushes. The last time I cleaned this brush was... three months ago. Seriously. My skin is perfectly happy to break out at any opportunity, but not cleaning this brush hasn't caused me any problems, and I use it daily. That said, cleaning your brush once a week with shampoo (for natural bristles) or brush cleaner is standard practice. Hope that helps!

I clean mine with the brush shampoo about twice a week maybe. Sometimes for a quick wash I just put some witch hazel astringent on it and it kills the bacteria and cleans it. Works wonders.

It's probably at your discretion, but I would recommend rinsing it after every use at the very least. I clean it after every use with soap and water. Perhaps we aren't supposed to wash them that much, but I've yet to have any issues, and I escape the paranoia of thinking about bacteria that may have accumulated from leaving make-up on/in the brush.

Bottom line, I would rather pay to replace my brushes after they wear out from too much cleaning than have to correct my skin or eyes if a dirty brush led to some undesirable issues.

I don't use my brush every single day, but still clean it at least once a week with Sephora brand cleaner. They also make a shampoo for more powerful cleanings. It's not to be confused with regular shampoo for your hair though. I am a little acne prone, so I prefer to keep everything as sterile as possible. You will know how often you need to clean your brush. I also spritz a little cleaner on a paper towel and use it to clean my eyelash curler often.

This brush is for applying liquid foundation. Any brush used to apply a liquid product should be cleaned after every use. You can use a daily cleanser daily and baby shampoo to deep clean once or twice a week. Liquid products are prone to cultivate bacteria so using a dirty brush will increase the chance for developing breakouts.

I believe it's better to clean it after every usage even if it's only with cold water and no shampooing. That will keep your brush always clean and looking good. Hope I helped.

Clean this brush and all brushes about once every month or two. They sell brush cleaners in the store but I just use a small squirt of dishwashing liquid (Palmolive or whatever), put it in a mug and drop all the brushes in to soak for a few hours. Then, rub the bristles with your fingers to wash, rinse with cold water and allow to air dry. It's that simple!

I clean my brushes every week. If you tend to use more make up or apply more often, try twice a week. Since this is a SYNTHETIC brush you can just use a little alcohol to clean it. Two parts alcohol to one part water will do just swish it around in your solution and to get really in there try to press it against a a towel and do back and forth motions. Rinse. press dry in a towel, or leave brush hanging if you can; or lay them over the towel to dry. You dont want to put them in a cup facing down or up because if you leave them bristles down the brush might warp, and if you leave it up the inner part of the brush can stay wet making bacteria. If you have brushes which aren't synthetic try using baby shampoo. with the same steps. best of luck.

You can use a brush cleaner by Sehora. You just rinse the brush with warm water and massage the cleaner into the brush then rinse. Then lay it out to dry. I also have a spray and go cleaner by Sephora..you spray the brush then wipe it with a cloth.....keeps it clean daily......

I often find when cleaning my brushes that brush cleaner is a bit too harsh and dries the bristles out.
Instead, you can use a baby shampoo, or my favorite, a vegan shampoo and conditioner that is all-natural and won't harm your brushes, especially the natural fibered bristles.
Remember to rub with the cuticle, not against it, or it will also ruin the integrity of your brush.
For hard to remove makeup like cream concealer, I find using a gentle antibacterial soap before the shampoo and conditioner works a treat :)

To clean my brushes I use shampoo. Plain old shampoo, nothing fancy. I then let it dry with the bristles hanging over the counter edge so they don't get smooshed. I do it I would say once every week or two, depending on how often you use it, is enough. I recommend contacting a professional not taking my word for it though.

I use the sephora brush cleaner after each use and once every week or two I use baby shampoo to get it truly clean. One thing I read which I follow is to always clean the brushes facing downward so water does not ruin the glue holding the hairs in place.

Sephora does have a daily brush cleanser. Just follow the instruction on the bottle. The daily cleanser is a daily quick clean product. Sephora does make a brush shampoo type of cleanser as well. This can be used to deep clean your brush once to twice a week in addition to the daily cleanser.

I clean my brush with basic warm water and soap. Perhaps there is a special cosmetic brush cleaner that I should be using, but I treat my cosmetic brushes the way I treat my paint brushes--I love them and they are my babies, BUT I feel if they are of good quality and meant to be a part of my arsenal, they should be able to last sans having to be babied in a special cleaning product.

Absolutely. However, sometimes you do need to blend foundations just a little with your finger after application to make sure it is not sitting on top of your skin. A brush uses quite a bit less foundation than a sponge. Never apply your foundation all over with your fingers. Do keep your brush clean from germs, etc by washing. Yeah, there's a product for that too.

This is not a foundation brush, this is more of a concealer brush. How I use this brush is in patting motions or stippling motions at an angle. If you want a foundation brush try Sephora's Professionnel Platinum Foundation Airbrush #55 and how you use it is in circular motions and holding the brush by the end to give you that air brushed look. and remember to get better coverage work on layers, don't just use a lot of product, it will make you look cake-y if you do. best of luck.

You should put the foundation on the back of your hand (to warm the foundation up and make it easier to spread) and then ay or dip a side of the brush into the foundation and lightly spread or you can dab the foundation around your face and then use the brush to blend this is best when you want to not use to much makeup

First of all, you should buy a pump for your foundation (lasts longer and is easier to apply when using a brush). You use one pump for 1/2 of your face. Just pump the foundation onto the brush and blend it in on your face as if you were coloring/painting and filling in a certain space. It seems awkward to think about if you've never tried it, but once you do, you will love it! Good luck!

Question
Does brush come with a cover?
In June 2010, I bought this brush in stores and it came with a reuseable plastic sleeve to protect the brush in my makeup bag and keep it clean. I wanted to buy this for my sister/mom as stocking stuffers but in Nov 2010, the brushes sold in stores no longer include the sleeve because customers were ruining brush bristles by not inserting the sleeve from bottom up. Now, store brushes are covered in a cheap, taped on film. Does anyone know if the online brushes are still being sold with the reuseable sleeve? (see picture)
