Questions & Answers for Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash

Question
Dissolving exfoliators, granules?
This is my 2nd purchase of this product and I've had it since April (the bottle usually lasts me about 6-7 months). It appears that all of the granules for exfoliating have dissolved and I'm left with just a gel. I tried shaking it up and taking the top off to see if the nozzle was clogged, but it seems like all of the granules have dissolved. I still have half the bottle left. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, it happened to me too! I started with the 8oz bottle and loved it so when I ran out I decided to get the 16oz. I don't know how long I was using it, but I know it was less than 6 months and then one day the beads disintegrated, so all that remained was this water like consistency. Going to definitely stick to the 8oz bottles for now on.

Yes, this has happened to me as well, I had purchased the 32 oz bottle and that was a lot of money to spend with the granuals disappearing. Even when I shake the bottle, the granuals aren't there and I am left with a liquid, just like I am using the regular Purity cleanser. Next time, I will go with the smaller bottle of this product.

Yes - my bottle is basically just liquid now. I'm really upset about it because I've only had it for 2 months. And now the bottle is useless. I don't even know if I should still use it to wash my face.

I have had that problem. It still works to soften your skin but the exfoliating factor becomes less effective. I had the large bottle and wasn't using it for awhile due to acne. I was told that you shouldn't use exfoliate products when you have acne. So when I finally start using it again, it had no beads at all. I even tried to turned the bottle upside down thinking that it all settled to the bottom. Philosophy should really make a note of this. I recommend that if you purchase it again, make sure you shake it every time and use it within a good time period. Since I share it with 2 other person, I would purchase the larger size. Stick to the smaller one if its only for one person. You should only exfoliate twice the max each week. I hope this helps.

I haven't had that problem with dissolved granules. The granules don't dissolve at all when I use the product. I even leave the bottle in the shower. I always keep the lid closed. I do shake the bottle before use since the exfoliant granules are in a lot of liquid.

I hated the pump, and what a mess pulling it out to scrape the product off.

Question
Correct combination of products
I recently started using the Microdelivery Peel 2-step system and love it! I would like to try other philosophy products and would appreciate your advice on the correct combo of products. I have combination (more oily than not) skin, main concerns are some fine lines and congested/ enlarged pores, and occasional break-outs. I would like to start off with a couple of Philosophy products at first and gradually introduce more. I have looked at the hope in a bottle moisturizer and I'm very interested in trying that... Can you please give me advice on the correct cleanser to use? I am between the Micro Exfoliating Wash and Purity cleansers. Help! Thanks!

I just finished using Proactiv for six months to clear up my skin but I didn't want to continue using a harsh cleanser. My replacement has been: Microdelivery Exfoliating cleanser in the mornings followed by When Hope is Not Enough serum then Hope in A Bottle moisturizer for my face and Hope in A Tube for my eye area. At night I use Purity Made Simple instead of the exfoliator as well as Help Me retinol treatment before moisturizing. I have not had any break outs or blemishes at all, my skin does not look oily or shiny anymore, and my pores have been purged. That's my skincare routine. Coming from someone with troubled skin it really works for me. Hope that helps!

ps to help with the cost I purchased the Makeup Optional for congested skin kit then the microdelivery and help me

I actually use both the microdelively exfoliating wash and purity made simple cleanser and I alternate over the course of the week. I follow up with the hope in a jar moisturizer (I use the one with spf during the day). This combo has really worked for me. The purity cleanser leaves me face super clean without over drying (I can almost go without a moisturizer). Then, when I need a good deep clean, I use the exfoliator wash (probably 3-4 times a week right now, with summer in Florida, my oil glands work over time). It is super mild but has really helped reduce blackheads and other breakouts as well as reduced size of my pores, refined my face. Follow that up with the hope in a jar - your face will feel YUM.

If you have large pores then the Microdelivery Exfoliating wash is the right choice for you. I have used this product for a while because I have the same issues you describe. Microdelivery is specially good for use because it cleanses better and does not leave excess dirt on the skin, which is great. It also removes surface lines which is an added plus.

YES. i use this daily with my clarisonic, with the "sensitive" brush head. it is a fantastic exfoliating combination, but doesn't irritate my extremely fair and sensitive irish skin. the key with the clarisonic is to remember that the sonic pulses are doing the work for you; do NOT apply pressure, just rest the brush against your skin and move in small circles. if you notice that you are "tugging" the surrounding skin as you do so, you are probably pressing too hard.

I use BE foundation and typically wear only mascara.
I use this in place of my normal cleanser, because overwashing absolutely destroys my skin and causes acne breakouts. There's no need for me to have a second cleanser.
In the evening, I simply rinse my face and remove any eye makeup (if I decided to add any) and then I use this during my morning shower every day.

But, when I work out and I'm showering a second time during the day, I use a very mild soap just to be sure that the sweat and gunk are no longer on my face. The only reason I don't use it as my 'cleanser' for the second shower of the day is because I know it's a strong cleanser and overwashing does damage to my skin.

I wouldn't recommend using this soley as a cleanser. Instead, use it to supplement your cleansing routine. Perhaps if you use little to no makeup, this would be fine. But, since you can't use it around your eyes, and it's not as effective at dissolving makeup like Purity Made Simple is, I would use this after cleansing. It makes a huge difference when you exfoliate regularly, and this is a great product for it.

I have oily skin with dry areas. I tend to use it everyday, but change it up a bit. I like to add it with my cleanser (no zit sherlock) on occasion. Hope this helps!

It's difficult to compare these two since they both have worked so wonderfully for me! The Purity wash is a wonderful all around cleanser that does a great job of lifting oil and makeup and leaving my face feeling truly CLEAN.
The exfoliating wash is wonderfully gentle and provides a great resurfacing of those dead cells and gunk that leave my face with those patches that just feel rough/dry and dull. However, it's not as great at getting makeup off - the most notable being the Purity will tackle my mascara, where this microdelivery exfoliating wash doesn't quite get those racoon circles when you wet your mascara-ed lashes.

Philosophy is all I'll use now and at a modest price compared to it's competition I use both of these in conjunction with each other - and they last forever because you only need a small amount. I'll use this exfoliating wash in the mornings for a gentle resurfacing and de-clogging of pores for soft and glowing skin that makes my make-up go on smoother and last longer. At night I'll use the Purity face wash to get all the day's gunk and makeup off for a fresh face. Between these two products I've been breakout free for close to a year! My mediterranean and asian descent means that I get blemish/dark spots when I do get the occasional pimple, and the exfoliating wash helps turnover the skin cells faster that those spots seem to fade quicker (combined with the Help Me Retinol Cream every night).

I use them both. I use Microdelivery in the morning and Purity at night to remove make-up. If I am i a hurry I use the purity wipes although I feel that the wash works better. If all you are looking for is to take off make-up at the end of the day I suggest Purity (esp for eye make-up). If you are looking for a gentle, daily re-surfacing product then Micordelivery is really good and will still take off your make-up but I wouldn't use it around your eyes due to the little scrubbing beads.

I personally would not use it without at least a "slightly" wet face as the instructions say....though I doubt if it would "harm" your face to not use it with dampness, I believe the dampness helps spread the exfoliating and other properties better, as well as cleanse better. The way I view "slightly damp" is a good splash of warm water on my face and neck and then apply the product. I could be way off on this, but that's just what works best for me...I personally would never use it except in the way I described above.

This stuff is great at micro exfoliation. Considering that a layer of skin sloughs off every 15-30 days from the deepest level as it moves on up towards the surface (the layer you can see and feel) and we lose skin cells constantly (that's what most household dust is made up of) so daily exfoliation is crucial. I have large pores and oily skin as well and this product has done wonders for me since I started using it 7 days ago. Hope this helps.

Blackheads? No microderm product won't do squat.

Go see your dermatologist or give yourself a very light glycolic peel to release the top dead skin layer and perhaps try retin-A to clear up the pores. Avita is a very good product.
