Moisturizer for Acne Prone Skin
I am 45 years old and have aging skin yet I continue to have breakouts. Every week I get a new blemish. I also have very dry skin. I am looking for a mositurizer that won't make my acne worse but also helps my very dry skin. I could also use makeup suggestions

I have extremely acne prone skin and DDF is now the only brand I will use. The lite moisturizing dew is amazing. My skin does not break out at all. It keeps my skin hydrated without the heavy greasy feel. I also agree with a previous post that glycolic acid does work wonders. DDF carries a glycolic wash as well as a toner. I use the wash everyday and the toner twice a week. The dew is used every morning before I put my makeup on. My skin has seriously never looked better. It's worth a try :)

There is a Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew with SPF that probably carries the Skin Cancer Foundation seal but I can't imagine this one carrying it since there is no SPF. I have dry skin and find this dew a nice light and effective moisturizer without a heavy feel or without it clogging my pores which is a plus for me.

I am 44, but I had to throw away a lot of make up and harsh cleansers, I use an acne cleaner by neutrogena which I think is mild, DDF oil-free moisturizer, the glycolic acne/blemish gel also by DDF and other anti-oil items (i.e. make up); less cleaning works better sometimes so you don't aggravate your skin, I wanted firmness and acne free swkin (my skin is really acne prone at this age! agh!) I think I found a good combination through a lot of postings and reading the labels. Good luck!

This will not make you break out, but if yo have severely dry skin, this may not work for you. This is very lightweight. Or you may have to apply more than once a day. For a tinted moisturizer that has SPF 40, use eltaMD. It will not clog your pores.

While I'm not sure about the skin-cancer foundation seal, I can give you some advice that I think may be helpful regarding your skin. I would say that this moisturizer is definitely a good choice for oilier skin that is prone to breakouts. It's very lightweight and gentle but provides adequate hydration. I might suggest that along with this product you look into using a cleanser that contains glycolic acid. This type of cleanser will not only address the issues you are having with acne, but will also work as a chemical exfoliant to help with the dryness you are experiencing. What may need to happen, is that the excess dryness needs to be alleviated in order for proper hydration and acne reduction to take place. A low % "step up" glycolic cleanser like Glytone would be a great place to start. To be more specific, look for their mild gel wash. Unfortunately, Sephora doesn't carry their products, otherwise I would buy them there, but you can definitely seek it out online. I would try the combination of this moisturizer along with the cleanser I recommended for at least a month to see some real changes with your skin. Good luck!

I used DDF to prevent blemishes and moisturize at the same time and it worked fine for me.

If you have especially dry but blemish/acne prone skin, you might want to give Korres Youghurt Cream & Mask a try. It is especially for really dehydrated but oil-prone skin--it would moisturize your skin and because it is for oily skin would prevent any blemishes--it might be exactly what you are looking for.

This product is great for acne-prone / combination skin because it is very moisturizering yet isn't greasy, is very light and doesn't cause breakouts. I am very happy with it. I have also used the Philosophy Hope in a Jar Sensitive Skin in the past when my skin has become extremely dry (like in the winter).

I'm not a "degree person" but I was pregnant twice and have two very healthy kids. I think it would be safe to use, your main concern should be harsh chemicals, such as hair color, relaxers, or fake nails, I stopped some of those treatments while pregnant. I would think it's more harmful to drink soda or coffee than to use this, even though I love coffee I also did without while pregnant. Congratulations, you're doing the right thing asking for information.

I am not sure. You should always ask your doctor about questions like this. You could probably just call his/her office and provide them with a list of ingredients. OR, My doctor has an e-mail address that he uses to personally answers questions just like this. Maybe yours does too and you could attach the link to this product to have it checked out.

Question
Is this good for combo skin type
I have combination skin (oily in tzone and dry in the cheeks). My oily and dry areas get progressively worse in hot and cold weather. I have recently moved to a warm climate, and my skin has started to get oily again...with breakouts. I've used acne specific skin care lines with a clarisonic for the problem areas (especially acne in the chin area, which has never happened before). Currently I am using caudalie cleanser and moisturizer, but it is getting super greasy on my face. I want to try DDF and have heard good things about it for people who have my similar skin issues. I want to try the entire skin car line, but am terrified of breaking out again. Should I start with the cleanser first and ease into it, any suggestions on what I should do? Other brand suggestions also appreciated. Thanks!

This may help you balance your combo skin type, but it won't work alone, you may be using the wrong cleaner or too much alcohol in your toner (if), I have very oily skin and now that I've changed many things to oil free I can see the difference. It had nothing to do with my diet or dirty skin so don't wash too much, but I started to use things that were anti-shine, anti-oil, and stay away from anti-wrinkle stuff. And my diet also affects a lot, sugar and caffeine in my case, you need to find what triggers your acne, keep a diary for a few days until you can see a pattern, don't forget homonal changes. Last piece, try one or two things first before you embark on the whole line.

Question
Why Moisturizers With No SPF
I have tried this moisturizer, loved it, and bought it. And then went and bought a spf that I thought was reasonably priced and went on so well. With most people in the skin care business saying you should wear spf ALL THE TIME WHILE OUTDOORS, I wondered if it was even worth it to get this moisturizer. My question is: What is the reason of having these, and what is the benefit. You have to shop more, pay more, and put on more with the chance of damaging your skin more with more tugging (here''s to hoping we really aren't tugging)

Thanks to all for your help in advance

The biggest reason in the beauty industry behind creating moisturizers without sunscreen is because most individuals only want one moisturizer for morning and night. It is not good to wear SPF to bed because your skin cannot breath and heal itself properly. Moisturizers are also incredibly more effective at night because your body temperature rises and your skin can accept and absorb the product more deeply. I would suggest that you continue adding your additional SPF in the A.M. If you feel like your tugging at you skin, look for a small non absorbent sponge such as the Beauty Blender to apply your moisturizers. It will help with irritation and bacteria transfer from your hands.

Personally I avoid SPF in my moisturizer because I have had bad reactions to some of the chemical sunscreens like avobenzone. (Physical UV blockers like titanium dioxide or zinc oxide are better tolerated, but very few products rely only on physical blockers.) In my case, I use the Ultra-Lite Moisturizing Dew underneath a foundation that does contain sunscreen. Also, DDF does make this product with SPF, if that's what you're looking for. Hope this helps!

Thank You. So you are saying that if I ever get irratitation then I may wanna try it this way, going separate. I don't wear makeup, not that guys don't. But should I get any irritation, maybe try a regimen without it and add it only when needed. And to take it one step further than you did -- not only NOT needing it overnight, but maybe avoiding it while out in the evening when the sun has set. Might that be OK

I would avoid using this product around the eye area, and avoid getting it into your eyes as the bottle states (especially if it's the formula containing sunscreen, which can be very irritating). Investing in an eye cream, gel or serum is the best way to go. Moisturizers are not typically intended for the eye area, even one this lightweight. Apply moisturizers only up to the orbital bone (which is basically the bone that creates your eye socket). Apply your eye specific products just above the orbital bone and around the outside of your eye (in a C-like pattern), no need to get close up right on your eye as products tend to creep up a bit on the skin anyway. Look for one that is opthalmologist tested as well.

I find it safe to use around the eye area. The first couple of days of using it under my eyes and around the nose, it did sting the skin a little but it was totally tolerable. after a couple of days my skin got used to it and it does not sting anymore when I apply. The benifits are far greater than the slight sting I first had. Awesome stuff!!

The effects of aging skin (dryness, loss of elasticity, wrinkles) are the result of the skin's declining ability to retain moisture. So the main ingredients listed do help with the moisturizer's claim to have anti-aging effects depending on level of age that your skin is experiencing. So if you have fairly young skin with nothing but fine lines around the eyes like me, then you'd do well to use this. But honestly any moisturizer that works well with your skin type and concerns is anti-aging.

I'm in my mid forties and have oily skin, my main concern was acne more so than aging, but I have noticed better firmnes in the skin, I can't tell if it's the moisturizer or the glycolic/oil control gel by DDF (bought the gel by accident too) which I am using daily. Aging could be many things, I have sun spots and used clarins brighteners (excuse misspellings) which worked better than Murad. I had to make a decision, was my skin worth spending money on? the answer was yes, but I have to be selective. Good luck with your choice!
