ghd IV styler

ghd IV styler

What it is:Endorsed by the world's top session stylists and hottest celebrities, the new, revolutionary professional ghd Styler maintains ghd's pioneering ceramic technology and unbeatable operating temperature while boasting new features such as an improved body shape and curved barrel for ultimate styling. What it does:The unique ceramic technology heats up to its maximum temperature in seconds and locks in moisture, natural oils, and hair color for total hair protection. The new ghd styler makes it even easier to create curls, twists, flicks, and waves, while retaining its unrivalled ability to achieve straight and sleek hair.New features and benefits:-New, improved body shape facilitates curling effects as well as straight styling.-Improved circuitry maintains a more constant styling temperature. The iron heats up to its maximum temperature every millisecond ensuring optimum heat on the hair from root to tip.-Sleep mode function automatically switches iron off if it is not used for 30 minutes.-Universal voltage feature operates from 110V to 230V by sensing the incoming voltage, making it great for travelers.-Outer casting is made from Rynite®, a fire-retardant material that ensures the outer casting does not get too hot when you're styling hair or handling the product.High performance properties:-Designed to create curls, twists, flicks, and waves, as well as straighten the hair.-Ceramic-coated aluminum plates help seal the cuticle and create shine while locking in hair's natural moisture, preventing atmospheric moisture from re-penetrating hair.-Emits a large proportion of infrared heat and negative ions, both of which are less damaging to the hair, reducing static and creating shine by closing the cuticle.-Conventional irons use PTC or copper-wound elements, which are less efficient at emitting infrared heat and negative ions and can dry out the hair.-A 9-foot swivel cord prevents tangling and damage.-Floating blades provide flexibility and smoothness when styling.-A built-in microprocessor embedded in one of the blades monitors and regulates the blade temperature 5 times a second.-If the temperature exceeds its maximum regulated temperature, the thermal fuse will blow, resulting in the iron switching off. -The thermal fuse is a safety feature to prevent the iron from overheating.* Product not available for gift wrapping.

Question
Will this iron cause damage to chemically relaxed hair?
I am african american with chemically relaxed hair, I've use the CHI and Paul Brown flat irons and they work very well. I mainly use flat irons to smooth the cuticle and to make my hair silky. I've heard about this flat iron and all of the reviews make it seem like the GHD is less damaging than other flat irons...so now I'm ready to ditch the CHI if this flat iron is better but from the reviews I cannot tell if this flat iron has been used on african american hair...does anyone know if it works on my type of hair with less damage than other flat irons?

I use on my roots that I have grown out for five months (no longer chemically straighten) but I still have about 9 inches of relaxed hair. It looks as though I have chemically straighened my roots (even though I have not). I have had less breakage and my hair is nice and silky. Any amount of intense heat will do some damage to any hair, but I find the ghd to be a lot more kind to my hair on both natural and relaxed textures.

I am caucasian but have very coarse curly hair that is color treated and my
daughter has straight limp hair that is damaged from other straighteners.
This styler does it all and gives the hair a beautiful sheen. It straightens or
curls my hair as well as hers which never holds a curl. It was expensive but the quality is exceptional and it has an extra long cord which works great.

if your hair is getting burned you are using the iron incorrectly or are in need of a haircut.

as long as your hair is dry when straightening you should be fine. use a heat protecting spray before and run a little olive oil over the ends if they are too dry. also, make sure you are getting a regular trim, healthy hair shouldnt burn.
