I used to have a problem with my hair doing the same thing. Its naturally wavy and it likes to flip back out on me. I discovered that there were two problems with my straightening routine. The first problem was the iron. I used a fairly nice remmington iron but it just didnt cut it so i upgraded to a Croc hair iron. (also a professsional brand.) The other problem i was haiving was using product. As odd as this sounds, using product (even anti-frizz) can make your hair curl out. The Croc iron worked so much better but as soon as i stopped using any prooduct, my hair stayed stick straight and its smopther than its ever been. The trick is to shampoo and condition it every night. Then brush it out and put it up for the night. In the morning your hair should be soft, tangle free, and ready to straighten!

The GHD Iron is definitely amazing, bar none the best i've EVER used (i'm a hairdresser so I've used many). But...
A combination of things can make your hair flip out or under... Does your hair flip out later in the day or immediately while you're styling?
Do you live in a humid climate? If so use humidity-resistant products to style with, it will help keep the curl from reverting. If it occurs during styling, maybe your iron experiences loss of heat by the time you're at the bottom of your section, this will cause the hair not to straighten as well. You WILL NOT lose heat with the GHD Iron. It is amazing. Also, using a thermal styler (with ANY iron), like the GHD obedience cream or creation spray, will give your hair the control and hold it needs to stay all day. --from start (shampoo & conditioner) to finish (tools and hairspray) it helps to prepare your hair with the proper product to ensure the perfect style.
At the end of the day, I recommend the GHD styler to nearly ALL of my clients that straighten their hair. It is the VERY best at getting hair the absolute straightest.

my hair does that too sometimes. even after blow drying in the back and on the sides i have some areas where it just flips out. i don't know why. i had a chi and a maxiglide and i liked the maxiglide because the steam helped straighten out those spots. BUT it didn't last all day. with the GHD i find that if i straighten my hair and do smaller sections in those trouble areas (not even using a product for straightening) and go over it a couple of times with a comb or brush -- like they do at the salon when the straighten it -- that it really is straighter and it does last all day. this is definitely a good buy for that for me. i would recommend it for what you are having issues with. i think the heat is what makes the difference.
