No, this is NOT for you. It will end up a hot mess on your skin. It is for dry, rather clear skin. Sheer to light and moisturizing.

I have combination too, and it works great... I bought the trial pack with the powder and don't even need to use the powder. my skin has not been oily since I used this... but I use dermalogica toner, and then jan marini sunscreen before instead of moisturizer.

Probably not, I personally have dry sensitive skin and it does wonders, but if you have oily skin, I think the only way it would work is if you got the loose powder to go along with it. (:

Probably not. I have combination-oily skin and this looked greasy, even after freshly washing my face.

I have oily skin and this does nothing to combat the shine. It is very moisturizing and creates a natural canvas.

Its extremely light weight. But I would go to a store and have a cosmo girl put it on and see how you feel through the day. It makes for a great tinted moiturizer but theres more coverage. If that helps.

I have combination skin and would highly recommend this to anyone. It goes on smooth and I have not had any breakouts since I started using it. It moisturizes where you need it but never feels greasy. I do recommend setting it with powder so you can optimize the wear time.

Use the Smashbox SPF15 loose translucent powder and with the foundation and a primer underneath your skin will feel like silk. AND you won't be adding an extra color to your skin because the powder is colorless.

I'd skip the power and go with a foundation primer. With a good primer, this foundation lasts all day. No need to add another product.

I have combination/oily skin and I HATE using powder because it cakes on my face and clogs my pores. For my wedding, I wanted to look flawless in film. Cargo's Blu Ray pressed powder was recommended to me. It is one of the finest powders. The way I used it was with a brush, it will work like a loose powder even though it is pressed. It went on beautifully on my face and it did not look caked on.

I have combination skin, and on my face it isn't really mattifying; it's more of a healthy or dewy glow (but with no iridescence of course)

Neither. It's more dewy and clean looking.

This foundation is more on the "dewy" side. That is one of the reasons I love it. It isn't matte & it isn't "greasy" looking, but gives a subtle glow; like healthy skin should look like.

answer 6
I'd say "dewy" before mattifying or luminous - there isn't micro-glitter, a pearl finish, or anything else that would constitute luminosity, but it's definitely not a flat-faced matte, either!

The finish is more of a slightly-damp natural, if that makes sense.

answer 7
Closer to mattifying simply because you do no become oily or shiny and there is no shimmer in it. It does not give that flat one-dimensional look that I normally associate with mattifying.

Question
Color of under tones
I am not near a Sephora store and I want to know which colors are the beige shade. I cannot wear a beige shade and I think I need a color with a yellow undertone. I have light/med skin color. Any suggestions? I also can't tell what the difference is between F0, F1 or F2 and I don't want to have to mix colors.

I have L2 because I have neutral tones, but my understanding from customer service is the L1 is the yellow tones light shade. Be sure to shake this, don't pay attention to the color in the bottle until you have mixed it up.

Also, if anyone is having a difficult time choosing a color and can't make it to a Sephora store to match in person, there's a better description of each shade at the smashbox website and bigger swatches, too.

I would say that this foundation lasts along as other typical longlasting foundations. I used it while I was traveling in the Bahamas during August (hot and humid) and still felt confident at the end of a busy day of sight seeing.

smashbox probably wouldnt be the best choice for you if your looking for a long wear. sadly.. its the exact opposite. my biggest complaint with this product is that it has a slightly greasy feel, and seems to slip right of your face in only a couple hours. maybe try bareminerals??

Question
best brush to apply this with?
I got this since the camera ready shades didn't make my skin tone. The girl who matched me put this on with a kabuki brush, which seemed strange for a liquid foundation. She swore a normal foundation brush makes smashbox foundation look weird. Kabuki brushes make my skin itchy and red, for example the BE brushes. what do you use for the best looking application?

It isn't cheap or easy to get, you have to go to the Shu Umera website, but the best foundation brush is the goat hair Shu. MUch like it is the Cover FX cream foundation brush, even though this is not a cream. The flat foundation brushes are just a waste, they end up streaking. You will get more coverage with either of these two and this is a sheer foundation so to get light to med coverage and a perfect finish try one of the goat hair not flat brushes. Not synthetic, either.

I use MAC's #180 brush. It has white hairs and works really well. You get the coverage desired as well as an extremely soft, easy to clean brush. Try it out! It's the best brush i've ever used, and it work with any foundation. Hope this helped :)

Murad's oil-control mattifier makes a great primer for combiniation/oily skin. It's also a god idea to put a light powder on top of liquid foundation.

I have combination oily/skin. When I wear foundation (this exact one), I skip the moisturizer (except on the eye area), I wear either the Smashbox light primer or the Lancome primer. I do use blotting sheets on my T-zone and I tend to need to blot less when I do it as I mentioned above. Also, when you blot, you do exactly that, blot, pressing the sheet to your face and letting it absorb the oil without wiping or moving it around that area. Just touch it to your face.

Even though it says oil free, this make up is not good for oily skin. Plus if you use the oil blotting sheets, you are just going to end up wiping off your foundation.

It helps to start using antiaging makeup and products before you actually "need" them. However, regarding the comment about the FDA, the FDA does NOT regulate cosmetics, skin care, or even vitamins.

Of course it's fine! Products for ageing skin etc aren't bad for your skin - they're pretty much simply marketed differently, most of the time. Don't worry, if it could hurt your skin, the FDA wouldn't let them sell it :P

I am only 32, and fortunately have no signs of fine lines (yet). However, I don't think that this product would have any negative effects on young skin. I love this product. It is very lightweight and does not clog my pores. My skin has actually cleared up since i started using it.
