It comes in waterproof but I do NOT like the waterproof version. It is extremely difficult to remove!!! It also does not seem to have the same afect on my lashes as the original.

It's pretty good. I wore waterproof for years thinking I needed it, and I actually tried the waterproof version of this mascara. I found the waterproof version to get dry quickly and it didn't give the dramatic effect I wanted. I wear this mascara in the rain, and I am fine.

They have a waterproof version of Diorshow, but I have yet to see a waterproof Diorshow Blackout. To put it simply, sorry, but the answer is no. So if you want a waterproof Dior mascara, I would go with Diorshow Waterproof. Hope this helps!

Absolutely! I tried Hypnose Drama and while the effect was beautiful, Black Out gives just as much volume and sexy curl as HD, but your lashes are left softer and less stiff looking!

I used to be a crazy Lancome Hypnose mascara girl until I tried DiorShow. BUT if you want to replace Hypnose, I would recommend the original DiorShow formula, not the Black Out.

I prefer Hypnose!!! Diorshow smudges on me. I even tried their waterproof version and it still smudges. Hypnose doesn't smudge or flake and the curls are softer, and doesn't clump as easily as Diorshow from my experience.

I much prefer this mascara to any of the Lancome mascaras. The color is a much richer color and it truly makes my lashes appear to be much longer than they really are. I say it is a must try!

The brush is almost an inch and a half. Here is a picture next to a ruler so you can see for yourself the depth and length! Great mascara! Be sure to get some alcohols wipes (the types for eyeglasses) to clean around the rim of the mascara tube periodically, this will keep you from getting dried mascara clumps on your wand!

I haven't actually measured the brush, but it looks to be a little bit over an inch. The brush may look overwhelming and too big to do any real good, but it works so well in reaching every lash - even the tiny ones in the corner of your eye. It works SO well.

How can I wash off my mascara after the day?

I just recently bought waterproof blackout mascara and I tried to wash it off with warm water and facial cleanser but it would not come off. Then I tried eye make-up remover and still, would not come off!! I pulled out 4 lashes and it was just crazy. I tried putting some more on this morning and it made my lashes look disgusting. I want to know if I can either return it and get the non-waterproof or any suggestions on how to get it off my lashes at the end of the day.

I would definitely return the waterproof and try the regular formula. I personally love DiorShow Black Out and had purchased a waterproof version. Absolutely hated it. It was much more dry than the original and took a lot longer to get the same effect as the original. I have thin eyelashes so the application of the mascara is a big factor to how much you need to put on and how much clumping and flaking will occur.

Try Clinique's Take The Day Off (Purple) Remover in either the bottle (liquid) or tub (cream). I use the liquid if I take it off before bed, but if I am too lazy, I put a little cream on each eyelid before the shower, rub it in, use some water to lather, and then I rinse it off when I wash my face.

I use Albolene make-up remover. You can find it at any drugstore. It's in a white tub with a blue cover. I have used it for years and would never use anything else. It's petroleum based and similar to Vaseline but better. One tub lasts over a year. It's wonderful.

I use Sephora Brand make-up remover...I just wipe over my eyes, using a light circular motion, and wipe off with cotton (I also use Sephora Brand Makeup Removal Pads) and then wash my face as normal. Stock up now...the make-up remover is on sale - it's cheaper than buying a drugstore brand! My eyes are pretty sensitive, too, and this has worked brilliantly for me.

I have the same issue with the waterproof (olay mascara and make up remover wouldnt do it), try Boscia make up-break up cool cleansing oil, it worked for me. (Use it on a dry face before you wash it, use the oil, rinse, then follow with your cleaner)

i'm asian and i don't have long lashes to begin with. but what makes it more frustrating is i always need a waterproof mascara cuz if it's not, my lashes will droop down and not be able to get volume. my major need is volume more than length. i have always wanted to try dior's mascara, and since i know dior is known for its big and bold makeup, i was wondering will the regular black out work the same magic as the waterproof? a big draw back for the waterproof one is also cause i read how its so hard to remove. i also have very sensitive eyes... i currently am using lacome's hypnose in waterproof. and sometimes my eye lids get itchy. help please make up experts!

The original formula is much better than the waterproof version in my opinion. I found the waterproof was too dry to put on and had to work with it more. The results of the original formula is dramatic. I also have asian eyes and my eyelashes are thin. This will do the trick.

Have you tried using baby oil as makeup remover? I find it removes make up just as well as any 'eye makeup remover' on the market, crazy cheap and conditions my lids and lashes.
Also, have you tried using a primer? This might help not weigh down your lashes with a heavy mascara but still get you good volume and curl. I like the DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum

It stays on my lashes all day, and I never have a problem with it flaking or my lashes drooping. (If you need a VERY waterproof mascara - this is it!!)

The brush is very different than Dior Show. The black is incredibly black and it was a little flaky. Furthermore, I wore it when I went to work out and it really smeared with persperation-- lots of smudging after a work out. Moderately lenghtening, not really volumizing.

I think there is a big difference between the two. Here's my take:

1) The original Dior Show has a more bristley/teddy bear like brush - the Black Out is a little more open between the bristles.

2) The color is definitely the biggest difference. The Black Out has MUCH more pigment and gives a great black look. VERY smooth when applying!

3) I personally feel like it stays on a little better than the original Dior Show.

original diorshow is much better! it's more volumizing and really defines the lashes well. however, the black out is darker in color (it's like jet black/midnight black). if you want more natural/full looking lashes, go for the diorshow. i don't like the brush on the black out as much...but the color is still amazing for that dramatic effect (just have a mascara comb on hand so you can separate your lashes after applying blackout)

It's much more of an intense look. I like it more than the original. It's the same big wand, but it's a much darker color. I love it! If you're a girl who likes the dramatic, this is the mascara for you. I go back to the original when I go with a natural look where I don't want it to look like I have makeup on. I think that you should always keep this mascara and the original on hand. That way you can choose between full and flirty and bold and sexy!

The sales person at Sephora used either Diorshow or Blackout (can't remember which) on me and i thought the result was pretty nice but i did not purchase it. At the end of the day when i got home i found it INCREDIBLY hard to remove. After washing face, using 2 cotton balls full of eye makeup remover i still had mascara sticking to lashes/under eyes when i woke up the next day. I then showered and used more remover and was STILL getting mascara off ! I'm wondering is this anyone else's experience with these mascaras ?

I didn't have that problem at all. I found it very easy to remove... I use baby shampoo to remove my eye make up (very gentle, doesn't burn if you get it in your eyes), and have not had any difficultly. I don't have to tug or rub at all to get it off. You may want to try that.... good luck!!

Black Out is a very thick mascara, but with a good eyemakeup remover you shouldn't have any problem. I use Lacome's, and I just soak the cotton pad and let it sit for a few seconds on my lashes and really get them saturated. Comes off just fine :)

That's interesting because I use this mascara religiously and I've never had a problem. Perhaps you should try a different type of makeup remover?? I prefer sephora brand makeup remover or neutrogena makeup removing cleansing towlettes. However, I found that using neutrogena deep clean facial cleanser works best.

Actually, I have found this mascara to be one of the easiest to remove. I'm not sure what kind of eye makeup remover you are using, so here are my suggestions:

Olive oil. You want to put some on a cotton square, close your eye, and press over the lashes. Count to five, then sweep off in one direction.

Never rub your eyes back and forth, you'll just wind up with a mess and can potentially hurt your eyes.

Origins Pure Cream cleanser. I use this every night to remove my makeup and cleanse my skin. If you want to try a different version, Origins Clean Energy works well too.

Kiss My Face olive oil face bar. This is extremely gentle and great for sensitive or acne prone skins. Since its main ingredient is olive oil, it will dissolve makeup. I've used it to take off Bobbi Brown liquid gel liner - it works!

Origins Well Off eye makeup remover. This is my #1, most favorite eye makeup remover. One of the main ingredients is rose water, which is really nourishing and gentle on the skin. If the product doesn't come off with this, it shouldn't be on my face.

i think is water based, does not irratate your eyes and it is NOT water proof which for me is better, it does not dry your eyes

How to apply this mascara

Hello,
I am having a TERRIBLE time applying this mascara. I feel that something is not right, the brush is just horrible. it has so many gaps between its bristles and doesnt get each lash, resulting in clumps and globs. Please let me know any tips i can use to apply this evenly. EVERYONE i know loves this and swears by this masacara...but i just cant seem to feel the same.

Two things that I usually do when I apply mascara is I'll apply each stroke slowly and sometimes I slowly wiggle the brush a bit to keep the lashes from clumping together. Also I have a nice tool (don't know what it's called) that's made for separating your lashes. One side is basically a dry mascara wand and the one is a row metal spikes (the ends are blunt) that you use to comb through your lashes. You can probably find one in a drugstore.

My best advice is, when you first place the brush at the base of your upper lashes, zig zag the brush from side to side as your pull it through your eyelashes. This really gets all the little itty bitty lashes and deposits a good amount. Repeat this step on your other eye. Then go back to the first eye (which should be pretty dry by now) and just slightly swab at the tips of the outter lashes. This deposits the tiniest bit on the tips and makes them longer instead of blobbing on a pile of mascara and getting tarantula legs that clump together. One heavyhanded zig zagged swipe, and then a few seconds to dry, and then a tiny ping or two on the outter tips of the outter lashes. Gorgeous.

I think applying any mascara is all about how you hold the brush. If you angle the brush vertically to coat your lashes, the mascara seems to distribute more evenly for your first coat. Then, for my second coat I hold the wand horizontally and make sure that the tips of my lashes have as much mascara as the bases. Of course, you should curl your lashes previously with a lash curler.

are you using a good lash separator? tweezerman makes an amazing one with metal bristles. when the mascara tube is new, the mascara also globs on, but this is a good thing. just use a lash separator (maybe 20 seconds after applying so that the mascara dries a bit). apply another coat and then use the lash separator again.

also, when i apply mascara i apply from the top and from the bottom on the upper lash. i have long lashes and this makes them look even longer and thicker. hope this helps!

I have the same problem, I found that it helps when you apply it really slowly. This really isn't a good mascara if you're in a rush..

I put on a thin layer; a couple swipes then I go to the root and wiggle, go up a scoonch and wiggle all the way up the lashes and then go back through and put another thin layer and my lashes look soo freaking thick and amazing with this mascara =)

When this product is close to being all used up, the brush gets all dried out. Try not to pump air into the container and don't wipe the brush against the edge of the container. This will damage the brush and will make it totally unusable. This mascara is awesome! Give it another chance, even if it means buying a new one. Just be careful the brush doesn't get damaged. It will give you awesome lashes.

When I use this product, I first layer it on the top of the lash and work out. It is kind of weird at first but it gives you more volume and that extra oomph. Next, I will use the tip and work from the inside of my eye to the outer corners of my eye. If it clumps, you are putting on too much mascara. Use the full part of the brush to even out the lashes. It should look bold and defined after. If you still have problems, you should go to Sephora and ask them for help! The associates there always give great tips!
