It's pretty good. I wore waterproof for years thinking I needed it, and I actually tried the waterproof version of this mascara. I found the waterproof version to get dry quickly and it didn't give the dramatic effect I wanted. I wear this mascara in the rain, and I am fine.

They have a waterproof version of Diorshow, but I have yet to see a waterproof Diorshow Blackout. To put it simply, sorry, but the answer is no. So if you want a waterproof Dior mascara, I would go with Diorshow Waterproof. Hope this helps!

Is this better than Lancome Hypnose mascara?
I currently use lancome hypnose mascara in deep black and I love it,but I keep hearing about DiorShow being the best mascara out there for volume, I have naturally long lashes but I want that full, thick, false lashes look, is this better than the hypnose?

Absolutely! I tried Hypnose Drama and while the effect was beautiful, Black Out gives just as much volume and sexy curl as HD, but your lashes are left softer and less stiff looking!

I prefer Hypnose!!! Diorshow smudges on me. I even tried their waterproof version and it still smudges. Hypnose doesn't smudge or flake and the curls are softer, and doesn't clump as easily as Diorshow from my experience.

The brush is almost an inch and a half. Here is a picture next to a ruler so you can see for yourself the depth and length! Great mascara! Be sure to get some alcohols wipes (the types for eyeglasses) to clean around the rim of the mascara tube periodically, this will keep you from getting dried mascara clumps on your wand!

Question
How can I wash off my mascara after the day?
I just recently bought waterproof blackout mascara and I tried to wash it off with warm water and facial cleanser but it would not come off. Then I tried eye make-up remover and still, would not come off!! I pulled out 4 lashes and it was just crazy. I tried putting some more on this morning and it made my lashes look disgusting. I want to know if I can either return it and get the non-waterproof or any suggestions on how to get it off my lashes at the end of the day.

I would definitely return the waterproof and try the regular formula. I personally love DiorShow Black Out and had purchased a waterproof version. Absolutely hated it. It was much more dry than the original and took a lot longer to get the same effect as the original. I have thin eyelashes so the application of the mascara is a big factor to how much you need to put on and how much clumping and flaking will occur.

Try Clinique's Take The Day Off (Purple) Remover in either the bottle (liquid) or tub (cream). I use the liquid if I take it off before bed, but if I am too lazy, I put a little cream on each eyelid before the shower, rub it in, use some water to lather, and then I rinse it off when I wash my face.

Question
Will this work for lashes that need waterproof mascara?
i'm asian and i don't have long lashes to begin with. but what makes it more frustrating is i always need a waterproof mascara cuz if it's not, my lashes will droop down and not be able to get volume. my major need is volume more than length. i have always wanted to try dior's mascara, and since i know dior is known for its big and bold makeup, i was wondering will the regular black out work the same magic as the waterproof? a big draw back for the waterproof one is also cause i read how its so hard to remove. i also have very sensitive eyes... i currently am using lacome's hypnose in waterproof. and sometimes my eye lids get itchy. help please make up experts!

Have you tried using baby oil as makeup remover? I find it removes make up just as well as any 'eye makeup remover' on the market, crazy cheap and conditions my lids and lashes.
Also, have you tried using a primer? This might help not weigh down your lashes with a heavy mascara but still get you good volume and curl. I like the DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum

Question
is this hard to remove ?
The sales person at Sephora used either Diorshow or Blackout (can't remember which) on me and i thought the result was pretty nice but i did not purchase it. At the end of the day when i got home i found it INCREDIBLY hard to remove. After washing face, using 2 cotton balls full of eye makeup remover i still had mascara sticking to lashes/under eyes when i woke up the next day. I then showered and used more remover and was STILL getting mascara off ! I'm wondering is this anyone else's experience with these mascaras ?

answer 11
Actually, I have found this mascara to be one of the easiest to remove. I'm not sure what kind of eye makeup remover you are using, so here are my suggestions:

Olive oil. You want to put some on a cotton square, close your eye, and press over the lashes. Count to five, then sweep off in one direction.

Never rub your eyes back and forth, you'll just wind up with a mess and can potentially hurt your eyes.

Origins Pure Cream cleanser. I use this every night to remove my makeup and cleanse my skin. If you want to try a different version, Origins Clean Energy works well too.

Kiss My Face olive oil face bar. This is extremely gentle and great for sensitive or acne prone skins. Since its main ingredient is olive oil, it will dissolve makeup. I've used it to take off Bobbi Brown liquid gel liner - it works!

Origins Well Off eye makeup remover. This is my #1, most favorite eye makeup remover. One of the main ingredients is rose water, which is really nourishing and gentle on the skin. If the product doesn't come off with this, it shouldn't be on my face.

Always read your ingredient list. If you're unsure of whether a product is potentially harmful, I recommend you check out Good Guide. For iPhone users, there is a great app you can download for free that lets you scan bar codes using your phone and gives you an immediate analysis of the ingredients of the product.

Good luck, and I hope this helps you!

Courtesy of Black Fix Complex - a unique blend of deeply saturated pigments - this creamy formula is the first to reproduce the intensity of kohl. Thickening powder adds staying power, while an Arabic gum extract provides a perfect charcoal-like finish and adds to its incredible resistance. Spectacularly intense!

What I love about it is you can scrape off the end of the want to get the corners of your eyes and then go back over the entire eye with the mascara.

judging by how difficult it is to remove, I'd say oil based.

Question
does it hold curl?
i have been using waterproof mascara which is the only thing that holds my curl. I have stick straight, ASIAN eyelashes that won't hold curl. I have used a TON of non-waterproof mascaras that just make my eyelashes droop down back to normal. does this hold curl? please, if you do not have lashes like mine, then please do not answer. preferably asians should answer lol. oh and i curl my lashes before i put on mascara, and i prefer not to curl after i apply mascaras cause i feel like its bad for my lashes.

or can you recommend mascaras that work for asian lashes?
thanks! (:

I do not have asian eyelashes but mine are short and straight. I have never used an eyelash curler as I believe it is in the application technique. Try applying on the top of the lash and twist and curl as you extend. Sort of like curling your hair. Also use your other hand and pull the corners of your eye to separate the lashes as you apply. As they dry, they should curl more.

I'm not asian (sorry :)) but my lashes are pretty much stick straight and most mascaras I have used have curled when I put them on and five minutes later they are straight again. To be honest, this does curl your lashes (even without primer or curler) but the curl is not that dramatic. It does hold the (albeit not-so-dramatic) curl for an entire workday though. I had better experiences with Givenchy mascara - I forget the name, but the wand was shaped like a little ball - that stuff was awesome!

i am absolutely NOT advocating doing anything that may hurt your eyes.

but.......i have very fine lashes that dont like to curl either and i like curls thick black lashes....so i shoot my eyelash curler with the blow dryer until it is a little walm to the touch (a little warmer than a babys bottle) and hold the curl until it is cool, so about 5-10 seconds. its the same idea as curling your hair and letting the curl set. the trick is to make sure it is curled when it cools. dont let it get too hot.

I'm partially Asian and use this mascara. Just make sure you lift the upper outer corners of your eyes when you apply mascara.

I don't really like curling my lashes after I apply my mascara either but it really does make a difference to do so, and this mascara does hold if you curl them before for a few seconds and 60 seconds after you apply it. Just make sure you get it away from the skin and make sure it dosent feel like it's pulling on your lashes, I do this almost everyday and I still have full lashes. Hope this helps!

After I saw your question, I had it in the back of my mind and continued shopping. I was looking at Givenchy Mister Lash Booster (I can't remember the name now haha but it's their new product - I believe that's right) and one of the reviewers said they are part asian with very straight eyelashes and that this product gave them lots of curl and length. Maybe that is something you want to add to your beauty routine! Oh then I definitely recommend this product as well!!!

I'm not Asian but I do have straight lashes that I have to curl every day and I also HAVE to use waterproof, or else my lashes droop too! This mascara is not waterproof. No matter what fancy mascara I use, I ALWAYS put Maybelline Lash Discovery Waterproof in Very Black on my lashes as a base. It separates my lashes, makes them waterproof and holds the curl. Then I add a higher end mascara on top to add volume, depth, length, whatever mood I'm in. If you want dark, dramatic lashes, DiorShow Black Out is the best!!! The original Dior Show is good if you just want more volume and this one will make them so black and dramatic. I love it. But again, always use a waterproof as a base coat. I would die w/out my Maybelline Lash Discovery. Hope this helps!

This will probably not hold the curl in your eyelashes. I have asian lashes that actually curl when I put any kind of mascara on and I know that Black Out isn't really the best mascara to make them curl. However, Black Out has been amazing for my lashes and make it look like I have dark, long, and full eyelashes with only one or two coats.

My best advice to you if you want to hold your curl is to get a mascara specifically for curling eyelashes or to use an eyelash primer before curling your lashes so your curls will end up lasting. Good luck!

DiorShow Black Out Mascara works great if you have hardly any lashes. It keeps curl and holds its look all day. I would definitely buy it.

It definitely holds a curl. I know it had beeswax and several other things in it. But the texture is so unlike other mascaras Ive used. I was instantly impressed. and it is very long lasting.

I am asian with thin wispy but long eyelashes and I love this mascara cus it gives me fuller and more dramatic lashes without the falses.

I recommend you buying the shu umera eyelash curler because it dramatically curls your eyelashes to the extreme and is made for asian eyes, apply a base mascara like maybelline great lash then after I use a heated eyelash curler wand to set in place and then add a 2nd coat of volumizing lash building mascara.

Night time I usually use a lash conditioner like latisse to condition/strengthen my lashies.
