The more powerful and targeted products get, the more we need to be careful about what we have in our skin-care regimens during pregnancy. With any addition into your regimen, we recommend speaking with your physician first.

Question
Effective for preventing stretch marks in pregnancy?
I'm begining my 2nd trimester and am looking for something to prevent stretch marks from forming. During my first pregancy I developed ZERO stretch marks, and I'm a size 0! The product I used 4 years ago was made by clinique, but is discontinued. A lot of products out there are for making stretch marks fade. I'm looking for one that prevents them. Has anyone used this product for the prevention of stretch marks?

Use the Clarins Stretch Mark Control Cream. I used it during both of my pregnancys and no stretch marks even though my family is prone to them! I used it twice per day starting in the first trimester.

If you had no stretch marks at your first pregnancy, its because you have a good skin... this is a good product too, and for sure helps to prevent. I already have stretch marks when I bought this but the velocity that they have show slow down, but I've been using with the oil (the same brand oil).

I used this product during my first pregnancy and had no stretch marks. My second child is 3 weeks old and I am still using the product. I only have a few stretch marks and I think that continuing to use the cream mill minimize or eliminate those. This cream is great.

As I know, withe stretch marks are already healed so there is no creme that can help. You can look for a deep treatment with a dermatologist.

I found it to be helpful but not a miracle worker. It made my skin feel very soft and smooth but the marks did not disappear completely. But the description says that it "helps REDUCE the appearance of stretch marks". It did help me reduce the appearance of mine. But I didn't use it with the expectation that they would vanish completely. I think maybe other people didn't like it because they used it with unreasonably high expectations. Nothing will completely get rid of stretch marks once they are there. Only cosmetic surgery can help that. But it's absurd to think that a lotion can cure the effects of such stress on the skin. Prevention is the key. So I would say if you know you are going to have a baby or try to lose a lot of weight, then start using this before your weight changes and use it diligently before, during and after the changes.

Stretchy marks will be reduced if I consistantly use some of body oil or cream for more than 7 years. If I get the result, i can't tell it comes from this cream...

I would say no. I don't find that it really gets rid of stretch marks once they are there. It is better at preventing them if used before, during and after pregnancy. It does help to soften skin and may help a little with appearance but it will not make stretch marks go away. If you are looking for more of a treatment for existing stretch marks, I would use the Strivectin cream. Sephora sells it. It's a little pricey but it definitely has more of a visual impact than the Clarins one.

For me, this product helped reduced the appearance of existing stretch marks from pregnancy. It works best at preventing - but I would still try it if you already have them.

I would use the clarins body contouring cream instead, which is what I used to use before pregnancy and will switch back to after I'm done breastfeeding. You feel it working and it improves color and size of stretch marks already there.

I would get about 3 because you use one up in about 3 months but you also want one for after the baby is born because the skin has a lot of re-adjusting to do and this cream keeps the skin so supple that it doesn't make those tiny tears that create the stretch mark.

You will want to use it when your body is trying to "go back" to its normal shape as well - I would count on buying this three times during pregnancy and at least two times after pregnancy if you use it as directed.
