I have the exact same problem. What i do is soak a cloth in super hot water, wring it out then let it sit on my face for a minute or so. That helps open the pores and bring the "gunk" to the surface. Then I immediately put the mask on. Works really well with continued use. hth ^-^

Brielle,
By "under the skin zits" I'm assuming you're referring to cystic acne, (a pimple that has become inflamed and enlarged, forming firm, painful cysts "under the skin")...
That being said, cystic acne can not be cured overnight. This detoxifying mask WILL put your cystic acne on the road to recovery though! Btw, never "force" your cysts to the surface! You may pop the cyst on the inside of the skin, spreading bacteria to the surrounding areas of your face/back/chest/etc. Plus, it just hurts!
To treat current cystic acne, use a facial regimen that contains BP, aka: benzoyl peroxide (Off the top of my head, I know Clean & Clear has two: ADVANTAGE® 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser with 5% BP and CONTINUOUS CONTROL® Acne Cleanser with 10% BP. Integrate BP into your routine slowly, like every other day so your skin can get used to it and not get dry really fast). The BP will kill any topical bacteria. Using REN's detoxifying mask in combination with BP with help draw impurities to the surface and out of the skin. Be patient! Cysts take a while to heal. If your cyst hurts, place a hot compress on your it. The heat will help draw the pus up and out from beneath the skin's surface, as well as reduce swelling and help your cystic acne to be less noticeable. You can simply soak a washcloth in hot water and hold it on the affected area for approximately 10 minutes. Also, eat a healthy diet, exercise (but shower to prevent blockage of pores as soon as possible), change your pillowcase more frequently, drink lots of water, and get a good night's sleep so your body can heal itself.
Sorry for "essay," but I know cystic acne really sucks, so I hope this helps you out. :)

I had bad luck with this mask. It didn't pull out any impurities or blackheads. I doubt it would pull out any blemishes under the skin.
