Questions & Answers for REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask

Question
Does it always create breakouts?
I tried a sample of this mask, and while I loved the way my face felt after using it, a few hours later and the next morning, I was totally broken out around my mouth and chin. It is my usual problem area, and I know that the mask is supposed to draw out impurities in your skin, but I don't want t deal with nasty pimples after every use. Does anyone know if that happens every time of if this was more likely just a fluke from the first use?????

How often are you using the mask? I use it every two weeks. Make sure to rinse well after you rub the mask off, until your face no longer feels slippery. The water needs to be nice and warm, but not hot.

I did experience a small breakout after the first use, but I have used it three times since, and no breakouts...just clear skin!

The same thing happened to me the first time I used this product. And like you, I was a little upset, especially since I had already bought the mask! BUT I stuck with it and continued to cleanse my skin and now that no longer happens. It sucks to break out but in my case, and maybe yours, it was a sign of the product working.

What helped me was picking up a stronger cleanser and being sure to really keep my face clean. I also upped the usage to twice a week until I no longer was breaking out. Remember: if the mask brought it to the surface and then you stopped using it, then that gunk is still in there!

I agree with the previous response. I have used several Ren products and if you follow the instructions they really work. Every time I switch to another product I always come back and it takes about 2 weeks for my skin to clear again. I see spots and blackheads in my trouble areas for a couple of weeks, then everything smooths right out. Give Ren a chance!

I have not used this mask but sounds similar to a peel off mask I'm using from Awake. I started using it one week ago and my skin felt & looked really smooth with smaller pores right after but I broke out as well for several days all over - chin, cheeks, temple, hair line. Throughout the week I also used Juice Beauty apple enzyme peel 2x and exfoliated more than usual. Now that it's been exactly a week, my skin has really cleared up. No new break outs, small poors, translucent skin. So you may want to wait it out and see what happens....hopefully good results.

would this pull out under the skin zits?
I have small pores, and under the skin surface are bumps which never come to surface unless forced. Will this mask help pull it out and prevent?

I have the exact same problem. What i do is soak a cloth in super hot water, wring it out then let it sit on my face for a minute or so. That helps open the pores and bring the "gunk" to the surface. Then I immediately put the mask on. Works really well with continued use. hth ^-^

Brielle,

By "under the skin zits" I'm assuming you're referring to cystic acne, (a pimple that has become inflamed and enlarged, forming firm, painful cysts "under the skin")...

That being said, cystic acne can not be cured overnight. This detoxifying mask WILL put your cystic acne on the road to recovery though! Btw, never "force" your cysts to the surface! You may pop the cyst on the inside of the skin, spreading bacteria to the surrounding areas of your face/back/chest/etc. Plus, it just hurts!

To treat current cystic acne, use a facial regimen that contains BP, aka: benzoyl peroxide (Off the top of my head, I know Clean & Clear has two: ADVANTAGE® 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser with 5% BP and CONTINUOUS CONTROL® Acne Cleanser with 10% BP. Integrate BP into your routine slowly, like every other day so your skin can get used to it and not get dry really fast). The BP will kill any topical bacteria. Using REN's detoxifying mask in combination with BP with help draw impurities to the surface and out of the skin. Be patient! Cysts take a while to heal. If your cyst hurts, place a hot compress on your it. The heat will help draw the pus up and out from beneath the skin's surface, as well as reduce swelling and help your cystic acne to be less noticeable. You can simply soak a washcloth in hot water and hold it on the affected area for approximately 10 minutes. Also, eat a healthy diet, exercise (but shower to prevent blockage of pores as soon as possible), change your pillowcase more frequently, drink lots of water, and get a good night's sleep so your body can heal itself.

Sorry for "essay," but I know cystic acne really sucks, so I hope this helps you out. :)

I had bad luck with this mask. It didn't pull out any impurities or blackheads. I doubt it would pull out any blemishes under the skin.

Once a week is my bet. Maybe in the beginning you could do it a couple times a week, but you want to be gentle to your skin. Don't overdue special treatments :) This is an awesome product. Enjoy as I have!

NO. I too was a fan of DDF for years. This mask does nothing to help with blemishes. I was largely disappointed with this product. It made my pores look a bit smaller, but it didn't clear up, soften, or detoxify at all.
