Questions & Answers for REN Ultra Moisture Cleansing Milk

Question
Compare to Cetaphil, Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, Philosophy Purity Made Simple
How does this compare to Cetaphil and Purity for non-drying and Purity and Fresh Soy for make-up removal? I wear waterproof mascara and eyeliner daily and Fresh does a good job taking it off but is too drying for me.

I use Sephora's Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover when I wear waterproof makeup. However, when I wear regular makeup (foundation, powder, etc.), this product removes it completely. A little seems to go a long way & I use a tissue to remove it, followed by a damp cloth. There is rarely makeup on the cloth. Additionally, I tend to have sensitive skin and break out with rich, emollient products but, after a month of using Ren, I haven't had any issues.

Not sure if it removes mascara, but for an overall moisturizing face cleanser, it is wonderful. I use it a couple of times a week.

Question
I thought REN was cruelty-free?
According to their main website they are cruelty-free, but I noticed in the description here it notes in vivo testing, which as far as I know is done on animals. Anyone have any light to shed on this?

Also, in vivo testing can also include clinical trials on consenting adults; it does not necessarily mean on animals. in vivo merely means on live organisms, of which humans are one. Their note about in vivo testing only references the work it doesn't say they commissioned it, nor does it say on whom it was done, so I think it's safe in this case to assume that they are committed to their claim that they are against animal testing.

In vivo testing is done on aminals HOWEVER the product claims that "research shows..." but it doesn't say that they did the research themselves. They do not test their products on aminals but at some point in time all cosmetic ingredients were tested on aminals by somebody, usually large pharma companies and medical colleges. There are virtually no cosmetic companies that still test on animals becasue it is no longer necessary. Those testings were done in the distant past so the FDA already has a list of safe ingredients that can be used. The hyaluronic acid has been studied alone, but the REN wash as a product has not been tested. Hope this helps, I work in a pharmaceuticals lab :)

Question
Ok for acne prone skin?
I have the most horrible combination skin. Summers up until early fall I am a totally greased up mess...Fall and winter my skin dries out so much that I actually am white and flakey around my chin and cheeks. I have sensitive skin and was happily using Nude Skincare's cleansing wash (Love it) but It's not cutting it for the current cold season here in Ohio. My skin is totally dried and itchy now. I am looking for a seasonal wash that won't irritate or cause acne but won't leave me dried out and flakey. Is this a good choice to go with?

This line of skincare is the BEST. We don't realize it but everytime we use products to dry up our skin, we are adding to the problem.
Using these products, my pores have shrunk, my clogged pores have disappeared. My skin has plumped up and now it looks like normal skin.
I have no more shame about my skin after 64 years.

yes this has actually cleared up my face and helped with flakes... the F10 enzyme mask from REN is also great for flakes. A good moisturizer is also very important I use Caudlie for dry skin or when i need extra moisture Cosmedicine Hydra healer.

I looked at the ingredients before reading the reviews/questions and saw most of the primary ones are sourced from coconut oil, which is 1) antimicrobial, 2)anti-fungal and 3)anti-inflammatory. I cleanse every day with coconut cream (which is the solid form of oil) and the shelf-life lasts forever.

Yes, this cleanser removes makeup beautifully. I use it every night to remove my makeup and sunscreen. I massage about a dime-sized amount in, then remove it with Shiseido cotton squares. Works great and doesn't make my sensitive skin red. Hope this helps.

I purchased both and get the balm. Cleanse milk require double or triple cleansing. I loved the balm and I really recommend it.

I used this a long time ago and while it's nice and gentle I didn't continue using it because I like something that will take my eye makeup off too. I currently use the cleansing balm a couple of times a week and I love it. The cleansing balm is more gooey and melts away my eye makeup. I am severely dry and will also use it as a nighttime hand cream, which would be overkill for most people.

While I find this to be a very gentle cleanser, this alone wouldn't help acne. Using this cleaner with acne treatments could help ( that's what I do). However, Ren does have a set of products specifically for acne. When in doubt, always choose products for your skin type.
