Questions & Answers for Smashbox O-GLOW - Intuitive Cheek Color With Goji Berry-C Complex™

Question
How can I make this stay on longer without fading?
This is the best blush I have found so far, and the most natural looking. The only problem I have with it is that some days it stays on really well and other days it fades almost immediately after I put it on. Any suggestions for how to keep it from fading?

Hi! Try not to put on a moisturizer that is too oily (because this blush is a bit slippery) and a primer is always a must! Also, if you apply the blush, then apply some pressed or loose power then re-apply that can help. That trick also works for lipstick. Good luck! I had the same issue with staying on.

My experience is that it is suppose to fade when you just put it on, but then gets activated when you naturally blush or your skin changes temperature. I recommend simply reapplying when you feel the need. Hope this helps!

In Bobbi Brown's book, Beauty Rules, she talks about blush-fadage. If it does happen, she recommends applying two "coats" or "layers" of blush. I haven't had any problems with staying power when I use O-GLOW but I apply two coats. I apply it to both cheeks, wait a minute so it can dry and just reapply. If it's too much color apply some pressed powder over it. Usually, though, it looks good to go! Hope I helped!

I guess if the staining of the fingures is that big of an issue, you could use a q-tip. I found that to work perfectly because it also takes off the extra that might lead to the un-natural clown cheeks. I also suggest that you don't use the o-gloss. It literally looks like you took hot pink lip stick and slapped it on. Nothing natural about that.

This product is not for the shy, but it will only stain your fingers if you use too much and don't wipe the excess off your fingers. For me, I just wash my hands and any stain comes right off. The trick with this product is to only use a teeny dot for each cheek (you can always add more) and keep it high on the cheekbone, not all over the place.

Question
How to use with Bare Escentuals?
I want to try this product and haev heard such great things about it, but have always been skeptical about using a cream/gel blush because I use a powder foundation (Bare Escentuals). Has anyone used the two together? Should I use the O-Glow before I put my foundation on?

Any advise is much appreciated!

I wear Bare Escentuals powder foundation and put the O-Glow on top of my foundation. It works--no problem! However, I typically use foundation probably on the lighter side than a lot of people. I would try it both ways to see what works best for you.

Hello,
I have used them both together and I think It works nice. But in order for it to stay I do need to apply the minerals, apply the blush, then re-apply mineral then blush again. That seems to help it stay. Also, the minerals look natural and the blush gives it a nice natural sheen without messing up your mineral makeup. This combo of mineral and blush looks especially nice for evening makeup. Hope this helps! ;)

O glow give you a natural subtle cheek if you put it on before your foundation, it just hides it. You need to put it on over the foundation but even still it doesn't last long. I would suggest using benetint by benifit. You could put that over or under foundation and you could still see it, plus it lasts forever.

This is a tricky question as I have not mastered the art of this product yet either but I find I get the best results when I apply it as "close" to my skin as possible. The color is so dependent on contact with your actual skin that I feel that it is better to not have a barrier between, plus it's mattifying so for my oily cheeks that's good. Sometimes I put it on BEFORE I put on my moisturizer and those days the colour stuck around longer (but you gotta go light on the make-up still)

You should definitely put it on after your foundation so the color of the blush does not get covered up under your foundation, I use a cream concealer and I use a bronzer then the last thing i put is the O-glow.

I have used it on lips and I like the subtle color, but I did notice it didn't moisturize my lips like a lip gloss would (I guess because it's really a blush, lol) I think It dried out my lips a bit. I would not use it on the eyes, because it does have berry ingredients in it and marine botanicals and it probably will not be good around the eye. And unless a product advertises you can use it on or around the eye I wouldnt take the chance. I hope this helps you based on my experience. :)

It does not contain sunscreen, but if you use a moisturizer with sunscreen you wouldnt need it in the blush, most blushes do not have sunscreen. It is not too pink, it's a rosey dolly glow. I think it's pretty. I always try to go to my nearest Sephora store to try stuff, but if that's not an option for you I would try it, because Im sure you can return it with a receipt...but to make sure you can return it..Id order it over the phone with a rep and ask them before you actually order it so you can make sure. I used moisturizer, then my mineral powder foundation, then O-Glow. I follow with a luminizing powder and then a setting powder.

I'm not sure which you "should" do, but I put it on after my foundation. I wanted a totally natural look, so I wanted it to blend in a bit with my foundation. Looks great!

Go ahead and use your concealer and foundation first. That's how I do it all the time, and the O-Glow still works wonderfully.

I apply this after my foundation and concealer. It is the last product I use. Good luck!

At the store the ladies told me to put on the primer, then the o-glow, then then to add on my power. I've done that and I've also put it on after I put on my mineral makeup. Both ways seem to work fine. I couldn't see a big difference either way. Hope that helps.

I do all my foundation makeup first, then do my dusting with loose powder to set. Then I add this blush. It's worked well for me.

If you try to add O-glow on top of foundation, it will mix and look a bit strange. It disturbs powder even more. It does not completely ruin your makeup if you try to mix it in after applying foundation/powder, but I would apply the O-glow first and add sheer coverage after. If your cheeks require heavier coverage, I would opt for a different blush.
