Question
I hear all these great items don't work on asian skin, is that true for this product?

I'm Asian and have had some success in reducing the acne scars from using this product. One thing that I think is absolutely important with using these type of product is that you should always use a higher SPF sunblock. You can really damage your skin from whitening product as they have some sort of bleaching agent. Other than that I would highly recommend this product and would buy it again but would only recommend it with the use of a sunblock.

answer 2
That is false.

1) This product is an Asian product.
2) Majority of people (men and women) who use this product are Asian.
3) Shiseido's top market is Asia.

I'm Asian. It worked well.

I am Asian with not dark but pretty yellowish skin tone. This is THE ONLY PRODUCT that works for me. I have used Lancome whitening serum and there is just no comparison to this one. I can't say if it worked for me dark spots but it definately work for the whole skin tone. Perhaps the dark spots and the whole skin tone get lightening simultaneously so I don't see dark spots vanishing :) I use this product every morning and it lasts me more than 6 months. The only bad thing about this product is it's package. I feel that there is still a lot residule in the bottle but couldn't manage to open the bottle and get them. Seriously, even my husband couldn't open the bottle without totally damaging it. You can imagine certain portion of the product just got wasted.
My suggestion: if you really want to get a brighter skintone with a serum, this is the best I've ever found. (Sekkisei is another powerful product but it's toner and you need to use it as a mask. Interestingly, the two product have very similar smell. Could be they have the same active ingrediant? But Shiseido one does't have such a strong smell as the Sekkisei one.)

Absolutely. This is the best lightening product I've ever used. It seems as if it doesn't just 'lighten,' but also tends to give your skin a healthy glow!

Works to fade my dark spots, though it hasn't made them disappear yet. I've been using the product religiously for a whole week, am and pm

This product is effective in brightening your skin and eliminating dullness but has not done much for discoloration. I've used this for over a month and while my skin does look brighter and overall healthier, no noticeable change to my freckles.

I also have very sensitive/acne prone skin and I had problems with my sample of this. I discontinued use of it after about a week when I started having noticeably large blackheads and whiteheads on my cheeks and forehead.

I don't know if it causes clogged pores it definitely does not cause my skin to break out. I definitely would say that my dark spots have visibly been reduced.

It caused me to break out :( I don't think it's suppose to though but yeah. :( You should try getting a sample first especially since you mentioned that you have sensitive skin.

Question
does it come in a sample size?
I would like to try this product without the expense of the full size purchase first. I would have no problem purchasing it if I could sample it first to see if works with my skin type or is effective. Any way to purchase a sample size?

Samples are a great way to try new products & we include three free samples with every Sephora.com order. The sample selection is listed on our website and changes frequently, so check back often to see what we're offering. At this time we are unable to send custom samples from our warehouse. Another great way to try new products is to visit your local Sephora store. At the store, a Cast Member can make a tester for you of any products that we carry. They can also answer questions for you and make recommendations for other products. To find a store near you, check out our store locator. Thanks!

Question
I have light to medium skintone with a few dark spots on the side of my cheeks and I want to know for how to get better results?
I bought a product that is almost similar as this one but it's actually shiseido's whitess white serum that a friend of mine had recommended that I should use for ance scars and I haven't start using the product yet because I am still trying to finish clinique's tone corrector that I've been using for the pass 2 month and it shows very little results on my post ance marks that lightens my dark spot in a long and slow process. My ance scars or dark spots are the only falws that I have and would love to get rid of. I'm wondering if I could just use any type of cleanser, like from a drug store or for better results use one of shiseido's lightening clearser? But I am also on a buget. I usually don't have oily skin like on my T-zone but it usually does become oily after the day that I have used some moisturizers or sunscreen that's oil free.

I have heard it said that using a cleanser will not give intensive results, because it's on the skin for such a short period of time. The Concentrate and moisturizers (which stay on the skin and absorb) are the important parts.
I have been using the concentrate day-and-night for two months and have seen significant over-all results. Maybe my spots are lightening, but it's at the same rate as the rest of my face, so it's hard to say that 'they're gone'.

I have been using the Concentrate alone and getting great skin brightening results. My spots may be fading at the same time, but they're not completely gone, yet.
I imagine the whole system together would work wonderfully, but just this one piece is doing the work for me.

After searching the Net for the ingredients, I've come to the conclusion that Shiseido is one of those companies that refuses to be upfront with their ingredients (lame IMO). But I did find a skin bleaching site that listed what they say are the ingredients. I can't confirm they're accurate, but it's all I could find:
Water, SD Alcohol 40-B (Alcohol Denat.), Glycerin, PEG-150, Tranexamic Acid, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG/PPG-14/7 Dimethyl Ether, Potassium Methoxysalicylate, Dimethicone, Isostearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Lauryl Betaine, Potassium Hydroxide, Xanthan Gum, Butylene Glycol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate, Crosspolymer, 2-0-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glucosyl Hesperidin, Polyquaternium-51, Sodium Metabisulfite, Limonene, Sodium Hyaluronate, Benzyl Benzoate, Serine, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Sodium Benzoate.

It'd be hard to get a sample of this. It's for on spot but you don't apply it to one spot. You're meant to apply it through the entire face for even skin brightening/lightening.

When you order online, you can only choose from the sample selection that Sephora provides. However, the Serum is on the list of free samples now, so you could receive it if you place an online order. Also, you can obtain a sample of anything when you visit a Sephora store.
