Questions & Answers for Shiseido Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam

Question
Acne prone/Sensitive/Oily Skin
I just wanna ask if which one is better for an acne prone/sensitive/oily skin? Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam or The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam? I want to ask before buying. I tend to have alot of cystic acne lately.. I don't know what to do.. I've seen alot of good reviews for both products..

I use shiseido cosmetics, so i think the skincare product will be okay for me too.

(I have a clarisonic classic to pair with a better cleanser)

I recommend the Pureness collection! I have dry combination skin & it felt amazing on my skin without the heavy "oily" feeling other moisturizers & cleaners did. A little goes a long way too! A def splurge!

I have been breaking out like crazy, so needed an upgrade from my Clinique. It's been two weeks and I honestly think the Pureness collection has been affective.

You literally feel so fresh after this foam wash.

If you have oily/acne prone skin I would not use this line. I switched to it and it made my skin 100% more oily, made me breakout more and gave me really bad cystic acne (which I never had previously). Before hand I was using Murad products and just wanted to try something new. I had good luck with Murad, but the Shiseido left my skin in such bad condition I am using skincare from my dermatologist.

Does it clear up large pores and blackheads?
I'm trying to be patient with this product. It's been 2 months. I have oily skin with enlarge pores, blackheads and under-the-skin breakouts. I haven't seen results thus far. Should I continue using this product or any suggestions on a different product?

I would recommend this cleanser but I think you may want to add in a peel to your regimen to help clear your skin. I use a peel, facial and this cleanser - light peel 1 time per week, facial 1x per week and cleanser daily. I don't have acne or wrinkles and I'm in my 30's. If I don't use this regimen and forget to stay on top of peels, I will get bumps that are difficult to get rid of and leave scars. I think this cleanser works really well with the Ole Henrickson lemon flash peel. Good luck!

I have some of the same skin problems as you. Large pores, blackheads, under the skin breakouts and I have really sensitive skin. I had switched to this because my skin was getting really oily and this dried it out to the point where my skin was producing more oil to correct itself. I switched back to Clarins gentle foaming cleanser, and I use there orange exfoliating cleanser 2 times a week. Another WONDERFUL product for large pores and oily skin is Dr. Brandt Pores No More primer. It is the only primer that actually has ingrediants that will help reduce the size of the pores and it will not clog them. This product is my lifesaver! I usually go with the bronze color and I have very light skin... it makes me look like a have a little glow.

Although this cleanser wasn't terrible, it definitely wasn't the best cleanser i've used for my very oily/acne prone skin. Try Origins Checks and Balances. It is available only in some sephora stores, but you can get it at sephora.com

I would say give any product anywhere from 3-6 weeks if you don't like it at that point try something different. I also have oily skin but this product in conjunction with the toner and daily moisturizer has normalized my skin a bit. I love it, but there was no significant difference on my black heads.

It could be that you need something stronger than a cleanser. Have you considered going to a dermatologist? I have extremely oily skin that was constantly breaking out--even into my late 30's. I finally went to the dermatologist about 3 years ago and she prescribed a retinol A product (Tazorac) for me. This fixed about 99% of my skin problems. I still need to use products for oily skin (such as this cleanser), but I never ever break out any more; I'm just a little oily.

I would try DDF skin brightening cleanser. I too have larger pores and this cleanser seems to work well for me. I would also suggest the sugar face polish from fresh, it's a bit pricey but it will last you forever . And finally in addition to DDF for pores and black heads. I would try the Boscia pore purifying black strips for your nose, they pull black and white heads out completely out.

if it hasnt been working for you after so long id say to shop around and try something new, one thing ive learned is to not use the same towel you dry your hair with to dry your face... sometimes little things and tricks like that can really make a difference and allow the cleansers to work, but if ur not happy with it, change, everyone's skin is different and there isnt just 1 product that works for everyone

It is for oil and acne skin. So if you have dry skin, it may not moisturize your skin condition, but clear up sebum and make skin dryer. So The SkinCare line may be a better choice for non-oily skin.

I think this cleanser is for oily type skin so it might be too strong for u. But if u like the shiseido brand they do have a line of cleansers and moisturizers that r targeted for dry and sensitive skinned individuals. So i recommend taht u get a sample n try (The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam) by shiseido. Since ur young, I've been told by one of the sellers at sephora that Shiseido brand is generally for 30-40 year olds, not sure if shes right or not but im a teenager and i still use the brand and it is just fine XD

If your skin is dry..you shouldnt use this. I used this for about a year and my skin is acne prone and oily in the t zone and dry in the cheeks. I used this line during the winter too and my face got REALLY dry in some areas. I recommend biotherm.

But just in case they dont tell you all you need is a little bit because it goes a long way. My sample lasted me a week or so.

I use Pureness with my Clarisonic Mia. It works just fine. The only issue that I have is that the Mia tends to make the Pureness run into my eyes, which burns. This didn't happen when I just washed my face with the cleanser. I have to close my eyes the entire time I'm cleansing my face with the Pureness and Mia, but maybe that would be an issue with any cleanser I would use with the Mia(?)

Sure, you can try this Shiseido brand cleanser because it is effective as Lancome cleanser and also cheaper in price. However I think Lancome cleanser is better at removing make-up.

I just sent to Sephora and purchased the MIA clarisonic and this Pureness foaming cleanser, was hoping to get minimize my oil level on my face, and also mild acne, and the sale-woman told me this is a good combination, that's why I purchased it.

Gonna try it for a week or so and see how it works.

Question
How good it cleanses?
I am using Lancome mousse radiance right now but is looking for other alternative because of its costly price. I really love lancome because everytime i use toner after i wash my face, there isn't that much make-up residue or excess dirt left on the cotton (it's really a bonus). I am just wondering if this product cleanses as good.. I haven't tried any shiseido products and I am really interested while reading the reviews.

Honestly, for the price I think the Pureness collection is great! It definitely cleans and clears your skin. This is my second week and I have had less oily/dry, since I am combination. My t-zone has been clearer as well!

I really like how the toner that goes with the pureness skin care line is Non Alchoholic, the toners with alchohol make my sensitive skin irritated and break out, that was one of the first things that attracted me to the line

This is one of the first Shiseido products I have tried. I wear a full face of makeup daily. This product really cleans my skin. Make sure your skin is wet when you wash with this. A pea sized drop will take care of your face and neck. It suds up nicely. Sometimes I wash twice depending upon the amount of make up/sweat from working out, just because I am a bit ocd about my skin. For me it is gentle and does the job well.

i found this really cleans your skin well but i wouldn't recommend it if your skin is really dry or really oily. BUT it lasts a really long time! i've had my tube for over 6 months and it's a little over half gone and my husband also uses it... so i think it's a great value! maybe get a sample in store to test?

Question
oil to normal skin tone
I have oily to normal face skin. I currently use the "The Skincare" cleanser, softener, and SPF 15 day moisturizer. I have used this for the past 2 years. However, I'm begining to notice that at the end of the day, my face gets a bit oily. Not too oily, but a bit oily on my forehead and upper cheeks. Should I keep using the "The Skincare" or should I try to use the "Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam, softner, moisturizer"? I used to have acne so I do have some blemishes that i want to get rid of. Thanks for helping.

there are two moisterizers that go with the pureness skin care line and if you are experiancing some oily zones, try using the matifyer, and most nights i skip the moisterizing anyways and just use it in the day time so at night my face can balance its own oil levels

The "Skincare" SPF moisturizer just makes the skin look shiny and oily. It moisturizes well but not absorbs to the skin at all. I feel like there is a thin film on my face. If you live in a cold dry condition, it would be fine. But if your skin is quite oily and have some acne, Pureness line is for you. I love The Skincare line also, but just the cleanser and the night moisturizer, but not the SPF moisturizer.

I too tend to get oily on my forehead near the end of the day. I use the Pureness cleanser and LOVE IT! I have not tried all the products in that line, but I can say the cleanser is my favorite (after trying so many cleansers from the drug store with no relief from pimples). I still get the occasional pimple but it's never really bad... and probably because I forgot to wash my face before bed, lol.

i think you can try to mix the products from skincare and pureness line. for example, you can use the skincare softener and pureness moisturizer, pureness deep cleaning foam and skincare night lotion. I do not recommend anyone to use everything from the purenss line. It tend makes the skin very very dry.
