Is this moisturizer to be used under make-up?
I was wondering if the Lorac oil-free tinted moisturizer was intended to be used under make-up or just alone?

You can wear it alone or under another foundation or power. The SA actually did my face with the ProtecTINT first and the LORAC Wet/Dry Foundation power on top.

the salesgirl gave me this because i needed a moisturizer and something to cover up the red. i don't like to feel like i have a lot of makeup on and this is lightweight. it's tinted so i used it as a foundation. i was told i wouldn't need one that this would do the trick. hope this helps.

Lorac ProtecTINT SPF 30 Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer is a mixture of a moisturizer, sunscreen and liquid foundation in one. Yes, it may be smoothed under makeup, but it provides sheer coverage to even out your skintone if used on bare skin. If you prefer fuller coverage, use it under makeup. Yet, if you prefer sheerer coverage, utilize it on its own.It is a good product if you desire to minimize your time in the morning by utilizing a multipurpose product.

I think it's meant to be used alone. It's definitely sheer though, so if you're looking for more coverage you might consider Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer.

I use this even if it's the only thing I'm putting on. When I have pimple, I'll put this on and then use a light powder over it, but this product is so light weight it never causes problems with my skin.

If you use this under make-up, make sure it is a very light, sheer make-up. I think it works fine alone, but the coverage is very sheer, so you may want to add a little more coverage with a very light foundation.

I personally need to spot treat my under eyes and a few blemishes, but besides that, I do think it can be used alone. I also apply a thin layer of mineral powder just to tie it all together and give my skin a truly flawless and never over done look.

You don't wear it under foundation, you wear it alone. It's good if you need light coverage. If you're looking for something like a foundation this wouldn't work for you.

It depends on the coverage you want. The Laura Mercier is much creamier and has more coverage than the Lorac ProtecTINT. I like the Lorac better for the summer because I don't want as much coverage as I like in the winter. I really purchased the Lorac because it had a higher SPF than the Mercier. Hope this helps.

I just tried the Lorac ProtecTINT for kicks and giggles because I truly do love the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer/spf 20. It's not even a contest. There really is a reason so many ladies love the Mercier. I'm a med/light skin tone with green eyes and I use the Mercier in Nude. The Lorac was so sheer, so totally without coverage that for me, at least, I would rather just buy reg SPF. But again, the Mercier is a fantastic product. SPF 30 on it would be heaven but until then, I'm sticking with it. :)

Question
Which color is good for my skintone?
I'm currenttly using Laura Mercier oil free in "Nude", but want to try Lorac because it sounds lighter and has a higher SPF. I do get a little color in the summer so should I get the "Tawny Temptress"or "In the buff", which I would probably get in the winter months.

Stay with Laura Mercier especially if you are oily. I hated Lorac. As for color I am light too but Nude is what I wear but in Lorac I was Tawny I think. Good luck.

To be honest, the Lorac doesn't have much coverage...it actually has no coverage at all. I bought the "tawny temptress". I use it more of a sunscreen then tinted moisturizer since it doesn't break me out. Laura Mercier has more coverage, so I would recommend sticking with that. If you want to try something new, try smashbox light because it has coverage.

I like it way better then L M oil free and original tinted moisturizer. L M oil free is too thick and hard to blend for me (more like a foundation) and the original is easier to blend but is not oil free. I don't put anything on my face that has oil because it will make my combination skin break out, not good for the pores. I love this TM because it is sheer like the product indicates and evens my complexion with light added color that blends with my natural color.

I would suggest Tahitian Tan. I have olive/medium skin that tans in the summer, and I find that Tahitian Tan is a terrific match. In the summer I dab a bit (a very, very small bit) of bronzer into the ProtecTINT on my cheeks and nose. They have just dicontinued the color Beach Bronze, which I used for the "bronzer" so I'm on the hunt for a new one. I'm considering Bobbi Brown's gel bronzer. Hope this helps...

Lorac's ProtecTINT™ SPF 30 - Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer had worked wonders for me. (And I've spent years, along with a bit of a fortune, at the dermatologist's office before curing an extreme outbreak of adult acne.) I'm about as sensitive to products as you can get and this one has never caused me any problems. I hope this helps...
