Question
For damage and dry hair?
I have damage and dry hair after dying and bleaching my hair twice in two days. Would this do the job? What is the difference between the mask and the hot oil treatment? thanks

My stylist told me that oils tend to be protein treatments - which means they're good for dry, processed, damaged hair. I think for your needs you would do better to look for something that has 'repair' in the name (or try the oil). The other product mentioned here by Aphogee is an intense protein treatment that would absolutely destroy my healthy hair, so you have to be careful what you use things for (as in, use them for their purpose - the Aphogee might work for you if your hair is really damaged). This product seems like it's more moisture - which is good for healthy hair but might not be intense enough for your needs.

Personally, I've used the oil treatments (maybe once a month) and loved them. A lot of users claim to add an ampoule to their colour when dying at home. I think the oil would be better for your needs. It left my hair soft, with lots of volume, and I left on overnight. As an aside - I never heated the ampoules and I don't think you're supposed to, so it's not really a *hot* oil treatment.

I don't know what I was thinking, but I found myself in a chair of a beauty student. Needless to say, she bleached my hair and it starting falling out. The teacher immediately did an Aphogee treatment which included soaking my hair in this urine smelling chemical and put me under the drier until my hair was stiff. They told me not to touch it or all my hair will break off. So they soaked it in water and I immediately i saw the difference. Granted, my hair smelled like urine for a week even after vigorously washing everyday, but that stuff saved my hair after 1 use! I doubt Phytojoba can do the same..seems more like a gradual healing. So if you are looking for immediate results and can avoid the public for a week..head to Sallys and pick up Aphogee 2 step Protein Treatment

I don't think this product alone will be enough for what damage has been done to your hair. I use it every day as part of my routine when I shower. I have really dry hair because it has been highlighted for years. I bought this when an associate suggested it, but next time I'll try something new. It says it's a mask but it doesnt feel really hydrating to my hair. Hope that helps.

I don't know about the oil, but I have very damaged hair from a straightening treatment and the masque does seem to do a very nice job of softening my course hair.

This would help but i would say the hot oil might be more intensive. They are both very good for your hair.

Question
Can you apply this product directly onto dry hair?
I've read a few reviews about this product and people have said that this work better by applying it to dry hair instead of wet. Does it matter, dry or wet?

The product instructions say to use it on damp hair and it works better. Damp hair can absorb more of the product and more of the yummy smelling conditioning properties that it holds. Using it on dry hair would be a waste.

Have not tried it dry, but on we hair it just makes it worse. For the price, I would not risk it unless you can get a sample first...

I don't know about applying this to dry hair, but the directions say to put this on towel-dried hair. I have tried both ways - towel-dried and not dried, just rung out with my hand in the shower like you would apply conditioner normally - and I believe it worked better after drying with the towel. It also allowed me to keep the mask on for 15 minutes before I rinsed it off. Hope that helped a little....

I've tried both. If you put it on your hair when it's dry, your head might look a little greasy after. I put the treatment on after I shampoo and condition - leave it on for a good five minutes and then rinse. On dry hair, after I've styled it, I put a little Moroccan Oil on my hands and run it all through the hair - this combination makes for very smooth and shiny hair.

I have used conditioners BEFORE shampooing for years. If you have time let it stay in for hours and then wash it out, maybe using a small amount of your regular conditioner after shampooing. Or skip the conditioner after shampoo and instead use a tiny bit of a leave-in type conditioner before blow drying. This product can also be used after shampooing (while hair is still wet, like regular conditioner), but it is a bit spendy so do leave it in awhile (like while you shave and loofah). My hair is very long and people compliment me all the time on it BUT I have to keep it in good shape and this Phytojoba Mask does the trick every time. Smells good too, without overpowering.

With Phyto, the products called "Hair Mask" confused me at first too. They are actually conditioners and are intended for use each time you shampoo. Of course you could also use them as a weekly treatment under a shower cap or overnight (I do both with great results).

Go for it! I like to wear a shower cap over my hair when using hair masks, especially when keeping them in over night. I find that keeping the hair moist with your heads own heat helps hair masks work better (although it's fine to let it dry too which I sometimes do when leaving the mask in for just a few hours)

I don't see a problem with using overnight because I used it for more than the recommended time. Just be careful if your hair is colored as most products could strip your color is not made specifically for color treated hair.

Yes. I leave this on overnight occasionally, other times 10 minutes and other times I leave it on for an hour or so. It's all about porosity and how much time you have! Don't be afraid to let this dry on your hair, to sleep with it on, or to clean the house with it on!

Question
Should this be used in place of my everyday conditioner?
If I choose to use this once a week, should I just shampoo my hair, towel-dry it, and then use this treatment instead of the normal conditioner I use? Or should I shampoo/condition, then use this mask?

If you have dry, fine, thin, chemically-treated hair like mine, you & your hair will love using this product as a conditioner after shampooing and a leave-in conditioner, as well! The Sephora sales associate who helped me discover this wonderful stuff had gorgeous long, straight auburn hair which was gloriously shiny and healthy - she told me this intense hydrating masque was her go-to hair product & she used it as both a daily rinse-out and leave-in conditioner.

Shampoo and condition and then use the mask after towelling dry, however leave your hair slightly damp. Don't replace this with your everyday conditioner cause it will be a waste of product. Think of this mask as a treat for your hair every couple of days (4-5.) Using it everyday can make your hair greasy and weighted, after all, it is a hair MASK, meaning heavier ingredients.

Question
This or ojon product?
I have straightish medium hair, and I've used the Ojon restorative treatment before and it worked wonderfully. I would like to try this because it's natural. If anyone has tried both, how do they compare?

I've tried both as well. I think they are about the same. The Phytojoba product seems a little easier to use because you don't have to warm it up, but I've seen the same results with both products.

I think this will last you a long time. I only used the little bit of product you can rub off the aluminum you peel off when first opening this jar. My hair is just underneath my shoulder, and this small amount completely coated my hair. In fact, I think I may have used a little too much in my enthusiasm.
I only plan to use it once a week though, but I think you get your moneys worth with this one.

Question
The ingredients say there's parabens??
Why do they say it's formulated without parabens yet in the ingredients list it says: Parabens (Butyl, Ethyl, Isobutyl, Methyl, Propyl)*?
by the way, there's other junk in there that isn't good for you either including phenoxyethanol (preservative), fragrance (can contain phthalates), limonene, linalool (more fragrances), and propylene glycol. Not so natural after all... I guess there's worse out there.

I was told by the company that they had reformulated the products and removed the parabens. My guess is that if you received a product with it, you might have an old version and should exchange it.

You might very well be allergic to citrus. My sister is highly allergic to citrus and cannot use most hair/skin products. I am also sensitive to it so I only use this product on the ends of my hair or my scalp itches terribly.
