I haven't noticed any lightening effect for dark spots. Do think that the hydration has helped my hands not look so "old", which is a great improvement for me.

I have some freckles but I notice no visible difference other than skin nourishment. For my skin I saw no other effects.

Hand Food by Soap and Glory is also very good although it has a stronger fragrance so I'm not as apt to use it. But its very good.

I'm in the same boat as you. Love the Caudalie, got hooked back when they did a ridiculous sale at $9. I've actually been loving the Soap and Glory hand food. It's cheap relative to Caudalie and I find that it soaks into my skin very fast. It also smells great! They have small sizes by the checkout for $5 so you can try without risking hating it.
