Questions & Answers for Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

Question
which shade should I use?
I tried a sample of the original Stila TM. But, I'm wondering if I will get just a little more coverage if I go with shade #2. I don't want it to be too dark though. I have light skin with definite golden undertones. I thought this product only came in one shade. Perhaps the second shade is something new. Thanks to anyone who might be able to help with this decision.

The coverage doesn't depend on what shade you get. If you have light skin you should get shade 1. If you want more coverage, layer powder foundation over this.

I don't think it makes a dramatic difference, but I have tried both of the Shades and both seem to compliment my skintones quite well, and I have fairly light skin. Shade 1 is like paler than shade 2 is what I have noticed. Shade 2 has just a tiny hint of tan in it, while shade 1 is flat-out pale. It all depends on how you want your skin to look. If you want a pale complexion, go with shade 1, if you want it to have a little healthy glow, go with shade 2.

The color is meant to be sheer, so if you want a little darker, I do not think the two makes that big of a difference if you have a little tan. I have medium skin and I tried both of them and found little difference for my tone. If you have fairer skin, use your discretion but the sheer tint will not be extreme likely if you decide for the darker of the two.

The Illuminating tinted moisturizer is much sheerer than the original tinted moisturizer. It's better at serving as a base or being mixed with something to provide SPF, moisture and glowiness. Shade 1 seems slightly more yellow toned and shade 2 seems a bit more pink/peach. Neither is very dark and they are both super sheer so they are very forgiving in terms of color match.

I think shade 2 would suit you. Shade 1 is really pale, ideal for ppl with really fair complexions. Shade 2 has a little hint of tan in it, ideal for your kind of skin color.

I chose Shade 1 and my skintone is olive. It blends very nicely. Shade 2 has a little more pink to it.

Question
large pores
i have large pores on my cheeks and i tried to wear liquid foundation a few years ago and it settled into my pores after a couple hours... not a good look. i felt like a dalmation. i would really like to try a tinted moisturizer because i like the dewy look instead of the matte look of powder. does this settle into pores? any help would be great. thanks

To prevent makeup from sinking into your pores, try using a primer (such as smashbox photo finish primer) to smooth out your skin before applying foundation. This might work well, but it has shimmer to it so that might accentuate large pores.

I also have large pores, but because I use Boscia products, I don't notice them at all; even when I use a magnification mirror. this moisturizer seems to work really well with it.

I just got the sample a couple days ago. It's shade 1, but it seems like a lot of people are saying there isn't that big a difference since they're pretty sheer and lightweight.

I was a little hesitant at first, of course, not knowing what to expect. However, even though I just started using it I am really liking it. It does moisturize (not too little and not too much) and at the same time leaves a slight "glow" on your face. Very nice. Lasts all day too.

The two shades are very similar. The first has more of a pink undertone, the second more apricot. They're not a full color tint, just a tiny bit. I'd say you probably want the second one.

It gives very sheer coverage, so if you're looking for more coverage, you could just this under your regular foundation to add a nice healthy glow to your skin.

All tinted moisturizers just give a sheer coverage. For a stronger coverage, it can be mixed with a liquid foundation.

This product has nearly no coverage whatsoever. It would probably disappear into anyone's skin, and I don't mean that in a good way. The "illuminating" part of this moisturizer is where it seems to go wrong. It made me look sweaty and shiny, and that is it. I would try another brand. Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is well received, if you need a suggestion.

I don't think so, I have pretty sensitive skin and this doesn't irritate it at all. Still, I'd check the package in the store next time you drop by just to be sure.
