NARS Monoi Body Glow II
What it is: A multipurpose beauty oil for daily moisturizing or massaging. What it does: Continuing in the tradition and spirit of French Polynesia, Nars launches Monoi Body Glow II to complement the original and all around bestselling favorite, Nars Body Glow. Capturing Monoi de Tahiti oil in its purest state, Monoi Body Glow II creates glowing, healthy looking, and naturally fragrant skin. Native to the South Pacific and France, Monoi de Tahiti oil is the result of macerating the native tiare flower (Tahitian gardenia) in refined coconut extract for at least ten days, slowly infusing the oil with nutrients as well as a delicate, natural fragrance. Well, this is an oil so it will be oily. However, it absorbs fast so you shouldn't have an issue with getting this on your clothes or anywhere else.

What does this do for my skin?
I have very light/fair skin and am looking for something to use on my legs and arms to perfect the tone and colouring of my skin (but NOT a self-tanner). What exactly does this product do? Add shine? or Correct tone?

It's more of a fragrance (oil type) than anything, think it's much too strong to use as a moisturizer of any type.

This stuff adds some immediate shine that doesn't last for more than a couple of hours. What it's really good for is fragrance and locking in moisture (if you put it on after getting out of the shower but before toweling off). You probably want to go with the tinted Body Glow.

This is a beautiful body oil that smells great. However, if you want color, try the original Monoi Body Glow which is also wonderful.

This product does nothing for skin tone except to acentuate it with a shine and moisturize. There is the another Nars Body glow that does actenuate tone by adding a bit of sparkle into the mixture and it acts more like a skin bronzer. I think it's the original Body Glow

This is a body moisturiser. It will not add color or sparkle or shimmer to your skin, becasue it does not have these added ingredients. It's like a luxurious body balm with great tropical scent (in oil form). It will give your legs a glow, from healthy skin, not artificial dyes or glitter.

Type of cap on bottle?
I got a small bottle of this and so far love it- but it makes a bit of a mess having to pour it out for use. Does the larger bottle have a flip style or other kind of cap or am I just clumsy? :)

No the packaging is no better on the large bottle. Hopefully Nars fixes this... Maybe their rationale is that if we spill enough, we'll have to buy more sooner.

No, it's just as clumsy. Crazy isn't it? In this day and age to be using such basic containers for something so expensive. I transferred some of the oil into a squeeze bottle to see if that would help, it did somewhat (be sure to use one with a top)...but it was messy to do, and doesn't seem nearly as glamourous, lol. Otherwise, I recommend putting several wide hair elastics around the bottle to avoid slippage, and just be careful!

The larger size has a cap. I just pour a little in a hand. But if you always pour a little in another type of container. Oil must be in a GLASS container. So be sure that if your decide to put it in something else, it is made of glass. (Plastic will absorb the scent.) Cheap products are put in plastic, but they are not natural fragrances or perfume. Hope that helps.

It's a cap. But if you do have a problem with the bottle, you could transfer it to another container with a pump easily. Those bottles only cost a few dollars.

I use the product everyday. When I am between bottles I add my own natural oil until my new bottle arrives. It is the greatest oil.

I don't use this once a day everyday, but it lasts a REALLY long time! You can always dilute it with another body oil to stretch out its life too! A little goes a long with with this oil so you don't use a lot of product every use. I've had mine for over a year (but I don't use it every day) and there's still plenty left!

The scent lasts about 6 hours and the moisturizing properties all day and night, depending on locale of course. It's fairly humid here (like Florida), but my skin is quite dry; I find it's as effective as any body cream (but smells 100% more heavenly!).

Will this break me out?

If this is true Monoi oil (which only comes from Tahiti, not France), it will not cause any skin irritations. True Monoi Oil has been tested scientifically & through many years and it does not cause any allergic reactions either. If however, this is not true Monoi Oil, but is an oil that is using the name, then there is no guarantees. Be aware that Monoi Oil is made only in Tahiti (also called French Polynesia) and has an appellation of origin control which guarantees the ingredients and quality. That of course doesn't keep others from using the term, but you can check where it's from and what it's made with.

I have atopic-dermatitis, but I don't break out from this. However, if you are very sensitive I suggest NOT using on the areas you are sensitive or if you are a die hard, apply a little hydrocortisone cream on the affected area prior to using the oil. You could also use a non-steroidal cream first like CereVe which has no scent whatsoever. That is what I use as bodywash and bodycream. It doesn't give me any rashes!! I rash like mad.

Good question. I also have a tendency to break out on the shoulder, back and chest area and have not found that this is a problem with the oil. It absorbs quickly and adds a nice fragrance and sheen without feeling heavy or oily.

I have a 5oz of Body Shop Monoi Miracle oil. It smells great, but the fragrance is subtle. It doesn't stay with me for very long and stays very close to the skin. Does this Nars product have a stronger scent? Does it have any throw?

I have fragrance allergies but am fine with essential oils. It seems to me that this product is pretty classy/simple and thus wouldn't make me sick, however i still feel the need to make sure the scent is a subtle and natural one.

I bought it after trying it in the store on one SMALL spot on my arm and found the scent was so light and didn't linger too long. However when I bought it and got it home and used it on both my legs and found the scent BEYOND overpowering.

I also remember when they sold this as a "two pack" with the bronze oil as well. However, I haven't seen it at sephora for awhile now. A year ago I did come across it, as a two pack at a discount store (either TJ MAXX or Marshalls?) and I scooped it up there!
