It is used as you would apply a toner. If it is in the morning you just put it on a cotton pad and swipe it over your face and let it dry. If it is at night you put it on a cotton pad and use it until the pad no longer looks like it is taking anything off your skin. There is no need to rinse afterwards.

I think using your hands to splash it on wouldn't be as effective since the product has a consistency that's more like water than oil. When using this product to clear up smudged eyeliner, I recommend a cotton swab. For all over use or to remove lip color, I use a cotton pad.

answer 10
I wouldn't. It is water based. It is not like a cleansing oil. However, if you were to use a large cotton pad, saturated and sweep across face & eyes, it would certainly pick up make-up and dirt. It would leave the skin feeling refreshed. I wouldn't use it like a cleanser though. I would suggest the foaming cleanser or the cream cleanser offered by this line. If you only want to use one product to remove make-up and cleanse, then perhaps the cream would be a better choice. Without knowing your skin type I am not sure which would be better. I have combo skin and I use the foam + the water as a make-up remover.

It is a water so it's difficult to apply and control the amount poured out if you just put it on with your hands. Use a cotton pad for best results. You won't waste a bunch that way either.

Could this be used as a skin regimen?
The product description says that it's a three in one cleanser, makeup remover and toner. Does anyone use it like that? If so, how well does it work as a facial cleanser? Sounds like most people only use it for removing eye makeup.

The product does work good as all three (cleanser, makeup remover, and toner), but I would only use it as a cleanser if you don't need to remove a lot of makeup only because you end up using a lot of the product to take it all off and it is quite pricey. When I have no makeup or very little on I'll just use this before bed. I also use it after washing my face as a toner and to remove any traces of dirt or makeup that may be left.

I use it as a 3-in-1 system daily, once in the morning, once before bed, and for touching up any makeup smudges (like eyeliner sometimes). However, I do use another product for exfoliation every other day. Although I have combination skin, it is clear with no visible pores.

This can work as any of the all three functions listed, however, it does not work well as the primary cleanser. If you use a moderate amount, it will still leave grime on your face. In addition, if you don't use is with a primary cleanser to remove the majority of makeup, it will leave your face feeling sticky. I use Ole Henrikson Apricot Cleansing Lotion first, then finish my evening cleansing regimen with Caudalie's Cleansing Water.

In a pinch it's effective as a cleanser but please clean your face first, then finish off with this product by squeezing some onto a cotton ball and swiping your face. It grabs all the residue your cleanser didn't get, and leaves your skin ready for a moisturizer or not. It's perfectly clean.

I have combination skin, and I wear cosmetics almost daily, so like you mentioned I use it as my eye make-up remover. I have swept it over my entire face using a large cotton pad and feel that it worked to remove make-up and dirt, so yes it could be a good cleanser. Not a deep cleanser though. I think if you have relatively blemish free skin that is not very oily, or if you have mature/aging/very dry skin this could work. I say this because maybe you are looking for something not so deep cleansing, non-foaming, ultra gentle, with virtually zero stripping of oils. It feels wonderful and also removes regular mascara (not sure about waterproof - I don't use anything waterproof). I personally prefer the Caudalie Foaming Cleanser as my facial wash and the Elixir as my toner.

This is a really helpful product that i'm glad exists

Depends on how you use it.
If you are using it to remove eye make-up, then before cleansing.
It can be used as a cleanser by saturating a large cotton pad, but then you would follow with serums, eye cream and moisturizer and skip toning.
I use it first on my eyes, then cleanse using the Caudalie Foam, then the Elixir to tone, followed by serum and moisture.... ahhh.

Most of the time I use it to remove makeup and/or cleanse my face quickly between showers (I use a regular cleanser that washes off with water when I shower). I like to do a quick swipe over my face with it just before bed. Also works well to clean the face quickly after working out if you aren't able to go directly home to shower (like if you go to the gym on your lunch hour).

It really depends on the cause of your acne. This wont clean as crisply as a lather over the sink, but lots of people suffer breakouts because they wash too much or use products that are too strong, and swapping in this half the time can be ideal since it's so gentle, and soothes while it cleanses. Most importantly, for many it can be the difference between cleaning off your makeup at the end of the night, and not bothering because your tired and just want to get to bed :)

it is not a medicated product but it is very light and natural so it probably would not harm your skin. if you use some acne cream, it is supposed to be better not to use an acne solution on top of it (the cumulative effect is too harsh for most skins- I am quoting my dermatologist) so a light, natural product is probably a good option.

Yes, this product can be used to remove eye makeup, including mascara. I use washable mascara as well and to take it off using the cleansing water I just soak a cotton ball and then hold it on my closed eye for about 30 seconds to saturate my lashes and then wipe it off. In my opinion it works as good, if not better, than eye makeup removers and it does not leave any oily residue.

I have pretty sensitive skin and have had no problems with breakouts with this product. I went to Sephora and asked for a sample. I used it for a couple days and then decided to purchase when I did not have any bad reaction to the product.

I have not experienced any breakouts with this product. I have a friend with sensitive skin who has used it as well, and hasn't had any problems.

This not only broke me out, but gave me itchy eyes! I wouldn't suggest it.

I have extremely sensitive skin that is also acne prone and so far I have not seen any kind of blemish resulting from this toner, however if you have combination to oily skin I would not recommend this product because it will not effectively dry the excess oil you may have.

I have the same problem with many products - often when I'm putting anything new on my face for the first time. This product is AMAZING, and is extremely gentle on sentitive skin like mine. It is completely non-oily (at least in terms of the texture; I wasn't aware that it even had oil in it) - to the point where I can use it to remove my eye makeup, and I cannot use any oil-based makeup removers on my eyes, which are also quite sensitive. I actually break out when I stop using this product! It is my number one "if I were stranded on a desert island" beauty product.
