You could but use VERY little oil..... I am part asian, caucasian and it makes my hair look oily... I use as a hot oil treatment, or gives a beautiful beach curly look.

I think Tui Oil can be used with your balm just dont use too much balm or your going to get that heavy hair feeling. I'm biracial and I use other products with this one as well. But I alos dont want to look to greasy as well :).

Question
Is this product good for the scalp?
I have dread locks and also i have a very, very, very dry scalp. I do my own hair and after about 2-3 days i can see my scalp starting to flake. I need a product that will help keep my scalp moisturized. If you know of a better product to get the job done please recommend. Thank you.

I have relaxed hair and found this to be better for my scalp because there was no product build up/dandruff in my hair. The hair elixer causes a lot of dandruff because it's very heavy. I would stick with the tui oil because it's lighter and smells better. Plus it won't cause the dandruff build up which might be a pain to get out of dreads.

Good luck!

Although this product works very well, if you have an extremely dry scalp, which is not unusual for those of us with ethnic hair, Carol's Daughter has other products that might work better! However, this is so nice, I use it everyday!

I use it as a hot oil treatment... Seems ok for that, due to my hair type it is too oily for me, but I loved the way it made my hair feel so I kept it and use it as that. It should be ok to use a couple of times a week, (that is how I plan on doing it since I just recently purchased the product)

I'm not sure about everyone else but, it made my hair grow. I'm African-American with a relaxed hair. I usually get my hair relaxed every 6 or 7 weeks. I had to wait beyond that and would oil my scalp. My new growth was definitley more soft than before and more manageable. My hair is to my chin in the front and slightly longer in the back. I had been using this for about 2 months and had at least an inch or more growth. This was before I relaxed. When I finally did get it relaxed I couldn't believe how much longer it was after it was straightened. This is my favorite oil.

Question
smooth, shine and soft
I usually use iron to straighten my hair, so my hair looks kind of dry. Does the product can make my hair look smoothy, shine and soft?

This can give that shine but you won't get it's full potential unless you add it to your hair after blow drying and before ironing. If you iron like I suggest you may want to do it at night to make sure any greasy effects won't occur. When I used it to flat iron my hair it turned out really shiny (a little much for my taste but presentable) and I did not use a lot. I gave it a good eight hours and the next morning it looked natural, beautiful and it was not as extreme as before . I have relaxed hair and it this has also protected me from the notorious humidity. ;}

Yes it can make your hair have an instant shine while not making it look greasy. I use a flat iron as well and/or curling irons depending on the look that I am going for and I add a dime size amount to my hair when I'm done. (Fyi, don't put it on your roots because like all oil, it'll flatten your hair on top.) Hope this helps!

Back of the bottle states flower type oils. Seems to be great for softening hair, but if you have caucasian hair I suggest only using it as a hot oil treatment. My hair is very dry, coarse, & was extremely highlighted. The oil seems to make it look & feel greasy. Plan on keeping it as a hot oil treatment.

Question
Hot Oil or Daily?
It says that it can be used as a hot oil but I don't know if I should leave it alone now or put it on daily after. My hair is relaxed but humidity is not an issue for me. (I got that handled)

It absorbs in the scalp. Try using a little on the crown of your head, 2-3 times a week. The moisture will hold better. If your hair is drier I would use as an oil treatment once. Hint: Use Mimosa Hair Oil directly on hair.

I am not sure about that. Is there a medical reason for the breakage or thinning or is it over processed? This product is great because massaging the scalp is healthy, but you have to find the underlying cause first, or nothing will help.

I would use this product as you are researching though, very nice on the hair and scalp!

Most likely not, since the brand is all natural and organic, but just in case, test on an area of the arm, like the bend between the elbow and forearm of the baby to test for allergies. If the skin doesn't turn red, or swell, I'd say it was safe.
