Maxishine lipstick is glittery. I used to hate glitter, too, but Guerlain's is not at all gritty or grainy, and the formula is done so tastefully that it just makes me happy as the shimmer enhances the colors. As the lipstick wears off, the extremely finely ground "glitter" (I put quotes because it's not quite glitter per se) remains, but when you reapply it blends perfectly right in again.
You should go ahead and buy Red Shine. If you regret it you can always return it, but I really hope you like it as much as I do. I have Lychee Shine, which is iridescent and looks great over Benefit's lip and cheek tint. I haven't seen Mango or Peach shine, but suspect that they'll be really sheer like the Lychee. Cherry Shine is a shade closer to burgundy than Red Shine, and it's really pretty too. It's like the fall/winter version of the spring/summery look of Red Shine.
It's been my experience that drug store brands that are glittery, shimmery and/or iridescent never pull it off and just look tacky and feel uncomfortable. But Guerlain is a luxury brand, and it's worth experiencing lipstick done right.
