Because it provides very sheer coverage, but you can build the level of coverage you desire so it's important to get the clear or a shade that matches your skintone.

I have the medium color and I have white pillow cases and the color does not come off on my pillow case. I chose to get the color treatment to even out my skin tone at night just in case I have to rush out or someone stops by. Also when I wake up my skin still looks even and not splotchy.

I have used a sample in "medium" RareMinerals Night Treatment and it did not come off on my pillow. I love the color choices, it looks like I have on my bareMinerals at night! I am not sure about the darker of the colors. Try the dark color and keep in mind that Sephora has the best return policy in the biz!!!

The darker colors DO NOT come off on your pillow. They are a husbands dream. It is like the color helps your skin look flawless when you go to bed. I love them. Enjoy!

Yes, you certainly can apply this during the day, I apply it after I cleanse and prime my skin and before I apply the rest of my makeup.

Vitamin A (which is in this product) does 2 things when it is in the sun. 1) makes you more photosensitive (that means sunburn) and 2) deactivates (which means you don't get the benefits). If you MUST use it during the day, be sure to use a physical SPF (like the foundation) OVER it to avoid these problems. You'll always get the best results using it at night when your body repairs itself though!

absolutely not! hopefully you havent done so already. there is a certain vitamin/ingredient that when in sunlight, could give your skin a very bad reaction. so unless youre staying indoors all day, just wear it at night.

Question
Should I use this with my different products?
I use a 3-step neutrogena method for acne...do you think the Rare Minerals is okay to use over that stuff? It has pretty potent amounts of benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, but is nice on my sensitive skin. I just don't want to freak my skin out!

It is fine to use with this. You just need to wait at least 10 minutes before applying this over your current regiment. This has no active ingrediance like the ones you stated. They should not counter each other. It should just make your night time regiment that much better. Enjoy!

I use Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum, and then I apply the RareMinerals. This method has cleared my skin and I have had no complications from using the products together. If you have used your products with success, the RareMinerals should only help enhance your skin. You may find after a while that you don't even need those other products.

I use this product at night. Apply moisturizer and let dry then the RM. I have used a very light layer under the BE foundation in the daytime. It's not that it's better than the foundation-- it has it's own separate purpose. Now there is the matte formula of the BE foundation that has the rare minerals in it so it's not necessary to 'double up'. For me the matte foundation gives a little bit heavier coverage and if it has the rare minerals in it I guess you could call it better. The RM is a treatment so applying at night allows it to work overnight--and it does work! I do recommend taking apart the container, pouring it into an empty foundation container and applying with the feather light or flawless face brush. It's easier--the sponge thing is gross!

im not sure if you can use this for work during the day. i believe it is intended to be use at night. it contains retinol so you have to be careful. you have to use sunblock or else it defeats the purpose of the treatment. i guess, the mineral foundation provides greater coverage.

Take off the sponge and screw off the top so you can use a brush to apply it instead of the bacteria prone sponge.

Try patting it on your cheek in the open position (close the eye on the side you're patting so you don't get anything in there). If you don't see a circle of product on your cheek, it might be defective. You can probably exchange it or use a clean brush to apply it from the jar.

Hi, try pumping the sponge. Shaking will not help. You sort of pump the sponge against your counter until the product comes out. Maybe yours is defective? Mine easily came out with the pumping action. Try that and maybe it will help.

Yes, you should wash it very often because sponges are prone to collecting bacteria.

Yes I clean my puff every week or so (I use it almost nightly) just take it off and use a gentle shampoo or soap or even a brush cleaner for your makeup brushes...it is sponge like so after a few times throw it away...it will pick up bacteria, etc just like any other sponge you would use. It does come with a replacement sponge...and sometimes when its near the end I unscrew the jar and use a makeup concealer brush to get all that is left in the jar...and to spot treat!

Yes, you should definitely wash the pillow puff when it gets dark. Though it may not be "dirty," it does come in contact with the oils in your skin as well as whatever is in the air. If you've already used the second pillow puff [they always provide an extra puff in the box], washing both puffs in mild soap and warm water is highly recommended.

BE does not make replacement pads, but you can wash them. Plus, it now comes with an extra pad (initially it only came with one). The pads are more durable now than they were when the product was initially released too.

Hello, I buy the refills from the Philosophy brand that is very similar to this. The pads fit and are exactly the same. I have found that it is better to replace them then wash them. I do not like the way the feel after being washed. So, I replace mine once a month or so. They only cost $3 for 3 pads. So, this is a great price.

Sephora does not sell the Pillow Puff applicator, but it can easily be removed and washed with soap... leave it out to dry before replacing. I suggest cleaning it often, since you are rubbing it all over your face.

it is MADE to wear OVER your lotion/serum. If I DO NOT wear a moisturizer under it then it tends to dry out my face. I will forever wear this....

I apply this after a moisturizer since I find that if you apply wet products over dry ones they can sometimes take them off. Cleanse your skin, apply all of your usual face serums/moisturizers, wait for your skin to dry, and then apply the rare minerals. :) hope this helps

Question
Is this messy? (fair skin/sensitive)
I'm looking for a foundation that is like a compact that I can bring w. me places, to work, etc. How messy is this to open up and apply? I generally hate loose mineral powder because it's too messy to carry around.
