Questions & Answers for Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

Question
color comparision
Hi I have used Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in sand. I want more coverage sometimes. What would be the most compatible color in the silk creme foundation. I have bought other foundations from sephora online that have not worked. I'm not near any store to test it.

I also use the tinted moisturizer in Sand, and I purchased the Silk Creme in Medium Ivory. While it's a touch lighter than I thought from the online photo, it blends very well and I simply use a bronzer (Bare Minerals Warmth is my fav) for blush and to deepen the color if necessary (I live in FL). The result is very natural - the foundation really gives a healthy, luminous glow, without looking like you have "make-up" on. I have had several people comment on how great my skin looks, and they are surprised to find out that I actually do use foundation.

Question
make up coverage
I am looking for makeup that will help cover the redness around my mouth and nose. I have a skin issue that causes my face to flare with red in specific areas. My skin is very pale and I have spent so much money on products trying to find one that will cover the red, blend out my skin, and last more then a couple of hours. Nothing works. My skin is oily in the T-zone, and my cheeks and forehead get super dry.
Could you recommend a consealer or foundation? I currently use bare essentials. It doesn't cover the redness but I like how light it is. Stores recommend so many expensive brands and I've tried them and they don't work. Maybe sephora, laura mercier, or another brand you have will work?

I have light skin too and was suprised when the sephora rep recommended rose ivory but it's perfect. The coverage is excellent and I too have redness around the nose and this provides good coverage. I hope you will have the same great results.

I have sun damage brown patches on my skin, and this foundation evens things out! Plus, I can build a little more coverage on those problem areas. I have light/fair skin...the Soft Ivory is only for those with extremely pale skin...I usually end up with the lightest shade in any brand, but not this one! Rose Ivory turned out to be just about perfect...the other light shades had more yellow in them, which I did not like. I have normal skin...this product would be good for normal or dry skin...I'm not sure about the oily areas. Perhaps you can pretreat the oily areas with a shine minimizer product before foundation. This foundation is pretty thick....at first I thought it would not like it, but here's the key....you must use a sponge to apply it, not your fingertips!!! But you can use it sparingly, and just add more to the "problem spots." I truly love this foundation, and it's the only one I found that covers my problem brown spots, and makes my skin look luminous and not look or feel too artificial or "too make-upy." Hope this helps!

If you've tried Porcelain in the other formulas, Soft Ivory is your shade. It's very light - I wear it, and am a touch lighter than MAC NC15, if that helps.

The soft ivory is VERY light. I have light/fair skin, and usually end up with the lightest color offered from any brand, but not this one! I looked like a Geisha girl! It's only for those with very, very light skin. I found the Rose Ivory to be a good match for me, the other pale shades had more yellow in them, which I did not like.

Question
I am trying to find the correct shade in the Silk creme foundation.
I am using Flawless from prescriptives and my shade is Y/O Ivory. it is medium to full coverage and I really like it because it lasts all day, covers redness and other spots, discolorations, etc. on my face. Since they are going out of business I am trying to find another foundation to replace it. I have heard good things about Silk creme foundation but am trying to pick a shade. I got the BEIGE IVORY, but it was way too yellow. I am like NC25 or NC 27 at MAC.

Question
Color problem, help!
Hi! I have been using soft ivory for almost a year now but after summer I have gotten some sun...not much so now soft ivory is a little light for me but when i was at the store last cream ivory was a lot darker and really really yellow! I am a yellow base but that one was too orangy yellow. I would say I am an NC 20 in MAC. I have brown hair and hazel eyes.

So i need help! I am only about a 1/2 to 3/4 of a shade darker. I want to go a little darker so i dont look so pale and because i am darker now. I have tried using bronzer and all that stuff. I love this foundation and I cant go to the store because I just had surgery and cant drive for a month or so.

I dont know if peach or rose ivory might work? Are they darker than cream ivory? Does rose ivory have all pink in it?

It is so frustrating that the shade from 1 to 2 is very drastic. Any help is very much appreciated!

I'm sorry I can't be of much help as the color I have is the soft ivory too. I would probably use a more hydrating formula such as Stila in the stick (I wear shade b) or in the illuminating square glass bottle (I wear shade 10. I suggested a more hydrating formula because skin can change dramatically for up to 6 months after surgery. The day before surgery I'd have the typical oily t-zone. After surgery I needed to exfoliate and use a more moisturizing regime otherwise I looked like on extra large flake sitting atop my shoulders.

Would not use for more mature skin that needs more moisturizing - again, it gets in those wrinkles and makes you look worse! Try Stilla liquid foundation.

Hi! I did some research on laura mercier's website. Your color in Lancome is in the medium family in a cool shade I believe.

Many of the silk cream shades are golden yellow so I think the shade Sand Beige would be best for you and the closest match to your Lancome foundation. It is a described as warm beige/medium to golden skin tones but it has some pink in it so it is not so yellow. It is more of a neutral shade and I think it would be a great match for you. However to get a perfect match go in the store and get color matched.

I am fair and wear the lightest shade. This foundation is amazing and I hope you still are interested in it! I like it a lot better than lancome. Laura's foundations are more natural looking because they are made with the latest technology in them to diffuse lines and wrinkles and look natural even with more coverage.

Hope this helped!

Question
Choosing a Color
I had been using Prescriptive "Virtually Fresh" until they recently discontinued the product. I have tried Dior, benefit, shisedio, MAC and have been unable to find a product that gives full coverage, but does not look cakey. This turn to everything "mineral" makeup is a bloody nightmare. It looks awful on film and does not at all give the look of fresh and flawless--with a soft iridescence
. I love Laura Mercier's primer, and know she is known for her "flawless face", but am willing to try anything--I have some hyper-pigmentation--so I thought I would give this foundation a go. Could you recommend a shade?
Sorry for the poor picture quality.

Hello! I totally hear you! I have tried every line you have mentioned and more searching for full coverage that is natural to cover my hyperpigmentaion.

This foundation is amazing and I hope you still are interested in it! I honestly LOVE this foundation. I cannot stand liquids with foundation brushes. I feel like I am painting myself and I never feel flawless. I always feel like it cakes with powder and is streaks. The way you are supposed to use this foundation is to shake the tube, then squirt a dime size amount on the back of your hand and then take Laura's sponge (Which is awesome! oh and by the way non other will do, i swear!) and work the foundation into the sponge and then apply it to your face in a wiping, stippling motion. Where you need more coverage just stipple the foundation. It wont cake. It is so soft, hydrating, and smooth. Then set it with her powder and you need to do it the way she recommends by using the puff, working the powder in the puff and then rolling it on to the skin. You can put a light to full coverage and it is buildable.

I did some research on the shades and I really think Bamboo Beige would be a great choice for you. It looks to me from your picture that you are a medium skin tone with golden undertones and this color should match you well. It is a blend of true neutral beige and warm yellow beige to make a golden beige.

I hope you find this helpful and give this foundation a try. You will LOVE it!! You can always call sephora for application tips or techniques. Also you can call sephoras customer service line and they will help you will color selection if this doesnt work.
Take care!

Question
For acne prone skin?
I'm nervous about purchasing. I normally only buy make up that is non-comedogenic because I'm afraid I'll break out worse! Any ideas, suggestions?

I would be cautious about buying this product. I too have acne prone skin and found this foundation to cover up my exsiting breakouts and acne scars well, BUT I think it did make me break out.

Try Dior's foundation (the Forever one) - I've been using that for a few weeks and not only is the coverage better than this product, but I've been breaking out less since using it, so I think it really is a great foundation for acne prone skin.
