Questions & Answers for Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

Question
Is there a big color difference between the Roach and the Smog?
I have dark brown eyes and was thinking a copper might be a good color. I like both Smog and Roach, but not sure I need both colors if they are similar.

Roach is darker and redder than Smog. Smog is lighter and more golden. Both are very nice, shimmery medium browns.

Ask a Sephora rep. They are excellent at answering questions and perhaps can suggest a color you would never think of.

Question
Is this suitable for people with sensitive eyes?
I have very sensitive eyes and cannot wear many shadows and liners as they make my eyes burn and water. I can wear Urban Decay shadows so I was hoping that I might possibly be able to use this liner. Can anyone tell me if this eyeliner irritates your eyes? Thanks!

Some of them have sparkle in them, that could be irritating, especially if you use them on the water line. Otherwise I LOVE this eyeliner. It goes on very smoothly

I don't get irritated with the liners, but I'd suggest getting a matte one, no shimmer or glitter, to test it out.

Question
Good eyeliner for my wedding?
I am getting married this summer and I am looking for a good eyeliner that will stay on throughout the day. If I cry is it going to smear everywhere? Also, by the end of the day does it stay put or does it smudge around the eyes?

While I love this eyeliner, I do not think it is smudge or cry proof and I would not recommend this if you expect to be rubbing your eyes with tissues!

On my own eyes, this stays all day. I usually have a solid 9 hour day before I remove my makeup, and this always seems to be intact. Plus its super hard to remove if you don't use an oil based remover.

I have found this to be the best pencil for water resistance, It will still rub off if you are rubbing often and vigorously, but if you are dabbing gently with Kleenex you'll be fine. remember to use slightly darker make up for photos! My eyes are a little close so I use a darker color at the outer corners. The inner corners are light or without liner at all.
Best Wishes on your future together!

I use a regular sharpener with no problem. While the eyeliner looks like it cannot be sharpened with a regular sharpener, it can without any problems.

Any good sharpener will do.
Urban Decay's sharpener is one of the best; very sharp and no corrosion of the metal.
You can sharpen to a thin point for precision, or leave it stubby for waterlines.

I recommend the one Sephora sells. Its not expensive and it lasts a while. The pencil is soft so be careful not to sharpen it too much or else you will shorten it quickly

I just use a regular, cheapo eye liner sharpener. It sharpens with no problem.

If you want precision, go with a thin brush, like Urban Decay's Perversion angled brush, but any brush will work on it.
A VERY good multi-use brush is Urban Decay's "Multi-tasker"; it's thin enough to work liner, and you can use the flat side for applying eyeshadow. You can even use for applying lip tint or paint, and perfecting any part of your makeup.

Keep in mind the "Perversion" color is intensely pigmented and I don't recommend sharing the same brush for any other use; at the very least, leave it for the last step. Any other color of the line will be fine.

You can use a brush with short/stiff hairs to help smudge it. Sephora sells a smudge brush that I use to achieve this.

I mostly use a cotton swab for blending or a small, firm shader brush. These smudge quite nicely for a softer look.

I always use my pinky - clean, of course. Within the first 30 seconds of applying the pencil, it is highly blendable. After that, it sort of dries down to a waterproof finish that stays put for most of the day.

Question
Do contact lens wearers experience irritation with this liner?
Most liners don't irritate my eyes, but because it's long-wearing, I just wanted to see if any other contact lens wearers had any irritation.

I wear contacts, and my eyes are rather sensitive in general. These eyeliners don't irritate them at all! I'm not sure how sensitive you are, but I would give these a shot. They're all-around great! Besides, if they do irritate your eyes, you could return them..Sephora has a wonderful return policy. (=

Well if there is no glitter then it wouldn't irritate. I try the brown one that has shimmer glitter in it and when I do the waterline, sometime you can feel the glitter falls right on to the contacts and it irritate the eyes. It's better not to draw it so close to the waterline.

I wear contacts as well, and this eyeliner has never bothered me..and I line the inside of my eyes everyday. I don't know how sensitive your eyes are, but I'd say go for it. It shouldn't irritate your eyes at all.

These pencils are amazing and the only way to get more out of the product is to get the Urban Decay sharpener. It's totally worth the $20 that it cost because it's also the best sharpener for their concealer pencils.

These are sharpened old school style. With a pencil sharpener. However, if you want to avoid the pencil breaking, you can put it in the fridge for a few minutes before you sharpen it. That will toughen up the liner and help prevent the tip from breaking.
