It's a real pencil, you can sharpen it!

These pencils can be sharpened very easily. I bought the Sephora sharpener and it works great! Even though they are waterproof, they are very soft which makes them easy to apply.

You do have to sharpen them but it's very easy and Sephora sells a variety of sharpeners that work perfectly. Look for one that contains the shavings in an enclosed section, plus one that has a duo size. They're very inexpensive and last until they get lost.

I have been using this for over a week and have not had to sharpen it. It still has a nice line. They say they are supposed to be sharpened, so I imagine I will do this at some point.

They are a wood based pencil. I use a standard (it may be a L"oreal I've had forever!) makeup pencil sharpener.

Yes, they are great. You can blend them when you first put them on, but then they stay put. I remove it with eye make-up remover at the end of the day.

I don't know that they are touted as waterproof but I know that I definitely have to use eye makeup remover to get it all off. They behave just as described. I love these pencils; the lasting power of a gel liner without having to clean a brush or open a pot.

I asked the same ? and was told the "glimmery" ones were OK and just glimmered. The colors that said "glittery", you might want to wait till evening. I got the glimmery and would have been OK if I hadn't been to lazy to wash my face before bed!~!~!~! The colors are nice & flattering.

I usually use Bourbon as my liner in the daytime. While it does have a slight shimmer, it's not glittery at all. I highly recommend it. It's a very flattering shade.

bourbon is too glittery for me. the few times i used it, i had glitter specks all over my cheeks by the end of the day.

Bourbon really is not glittery. It's not a flat matte color, but it falls towards the slightly shimmery end of the spectrum, not glitter. It has a bit of a reddish brown whereas a brown like Underground goes towards a more golden brown.

When I use these i like to tightline (line the uper water line which makes eyes look bigger) and a third to a half of the lower waterline. To make eyes really pop look at the color wheel and see the oppicite color of your eyes and use it to bring out your eyes. Hope this Helps!

If you have light eyes, try Rockstar. The purple shade is dark enough to add drama but does not make your eyes look smaller. I have the same problem since I have fair skin too, but that color solves it. Also, it looks fun but still a little natural since it's on the neutral side.

If you use a dark color on the waterline, your eyes will look smaller, no matter what the brand. Lighter colors give your eyes a bigger or wider appearance. The darker liner should go above upper lashes and below lowers or right on the lash line for definition. The reason for using a lighter color on the waterline is because it makes your eyes look bigger.

I've found that out all the liners available, UD's Bourbon is the very best for defining eyes with a soft look. Harsh bolder looks tend to make eyes look smaller. Binge, which is blue, is another good shade if not applied boldly. A thin line makes the whites of my eyes look whiter and somehow creates the optical illusion of my eyes being bigger.

You might also want to try something like Benefit's Eye Bright in the corners of your eyes. This both brightens and enlarges your eyes.

the liner is good at doing both, its the only liner i use for waterline but i have black. i think if you are going for a more subtle effect then do the top lid. but if you really want to stand out i would do water line. its all up to you!

I would use any purples, blue and green colors!

We have the same coloring - but I have hazel eyes. I enjoy using Dime, Covet and Gunmetal. My sister with the same coloring but bright blue eyes uses the same as well as Rockstar.

Purples and pinks for sure. Jewel tones really bring out the eye colour.

Try the dark brown shade.

Urban Decay offered a special 15 year anniversary set that appears to be sold out :(

They sold the set again sometime after Christmas. If you get on the urban decay email list, they send out announcements. I think it was somewhere between $95 and $125, but it was for several of the pencils.

UD has a sharpener that I got with their anniversary collection recently (the jackpot of all liners!) but prior to that I used a covergirl sharpener that I got at Target that has two different size openings and it worked great.

You need to simply find a sharpener that fits. I use one by Dior.

Not sure why it doesn't work for you, but I just use my regular eye liner sharpener. It has two sizes but the smaller one works for me.

I sharpen my 24/7s with a Maybelline sharpener. I use the standard size which would be the smaller of the duo that I use.

I say yes. I enjoy 24/7 zero for tight lining and the water line. Never budges. I would also say invest in a good makeup remover - you'll need it with these!!

YES!!!!!! And, it goes on easier. The Sephora brand can tug a bit, but NEVER a tug with Urban Decay. You will not be disappointed!

I use the urban decay smudge pots. They last super long and they go on really nicely.

I'd go with the UD but if money is an issue, the Sephora pencil is really good, too. I've used them both. The UD does need to be sharpened with a sharpener which is very inexpensive and should last a long time.
