In stores they have 3 colour sets, I've used the darker one which was too much for my skin. I now have the medium brown and it works really well. Try the stores if they don't offer it online.

I use their lightest shade and thin it's a little too dark. I would suggest going to any store and trying it on. Excellent product, you won't be disappointed.

i'm blond (streaks) and use the lightest colour and have no prob as my brows are just brown (not blond or black). the creamy wax goes on a bit light but once you add the powder to set the colour looks perfect. I was using a pencil and it didnt last (only a couple of months) This product will last forever as a little goes a long way. I think you'll like it!

I would get the medium one and then use dark brown eye shadow (the matte kind) to increase the darkness if need be. I add black to mine since I have black eyebrows.

I am a light blonde, almost platinum, and my brows fade on my face. So I tried the lightest shade of this item they sell, and it's still too dark. I wanted powder because I was tired of penciling in to give my brows depth, but I've gone back to a taupe colored pencil that I paid $0.99 for Wet N Wild.....works best for me

It's hard to say without seeing you, but just a tip, I bought the light at first and it has a really redish-orange tint to it. The color of the medium is nicer I think - it's more true brown.

The product on the left is the wax, the left is the powder. Don't know why the wax is darker than the powder though.

wax is on the right...don't even use the powder when i have other makeup going on in that area. too much of any makeup is bad for my skin

Yes you can. I have very thin eyebrows and it works fine for me. I use the wax first to do the outer line (top and bottom). Then I use the powder to fill in. After I use face powder and dab a little to set my brows.

I would say no, it's more just a filler for someone who already has eyebrows. Hope this helps!

You can use it where there are no eyebrows! I thought I'd have to use the powder (on the right) instead of the wax (on the left), but the wax is tinted so I use that both where I have brows and where I don't. It still stays really well so don't worry about problems if you don't have eyebrows.

I was naturally blonde but then I dyed my hair dark brown. This definitely provides amazing coverage and defines eyebrows extremely well.

I believe this product comes in 3 or 4 shades, and certainly this brown one would be darker than the one you're using. I agree that brows are so important, and I like mine a bit stronger too.

This product is super easy to use and control, you can go for major definition or a lighter, more natural look depending on your mood. I'm very happy with the quick results I'm able to obtain :)

Light would probably be good. The wax is pigmented so you can layer powder and wax to make brows darker. If you want really dark brows you can get med or dark shades.

I agree that the right brow color is important. I can see how this brow powder would be too light for you. I love the darker Bobbi Brown powdered shadows for brows. Some Sephora stores are carrying Bobbi Brown products now and I think you can also order BB online from Sephora.

I have black brows as well and I use the zings for dark hair. The wax is going to make your brows look darker, well b/c it is wax so the powder will set it and help it look more natural. You will need to play with the product a little to find the right ratio of wax to powder in order to find what looks best with your hair color and skin tone, but you shouldnt worry, I am positive your brows will look "naturally" great.

Black would be too dark, you can try getting a dark brow pencil and color in between the hairs for a more natural look

I have black hair too, and kept making the mistake that my eyebrows needed to be black also. I was being told by friends & family that my brows looked "hard", "harsh", & like they were drawn on with a "Sharpie" marker because I was using black eyeshadow to fill them in. I finally listened to their advice and was told by the Sephora employee that we should never go with black, always a dark brown. And was she ever right! I look back at photos of myself and cringe with embarrassment now!! You may need to shop around for just the right shade of dark brown because some products have a reddish/clay tinge which was not right for me either. You can still use eyeshadow and the right angled brush if you find the correct shade, but please no black!!! Trust me on this....

Supposedly, you use a brow color that matches the lightest shade of your hair - if you've got brown or blonde highlights, then you'd use a lighter brow color. I've got brown hair, but black brows. On me, black brow color looks very harsh, so the brown does look better.

the people at sephora told me to mix both the wax and the powder and use together, but i don't like having such heavy brows so I use the powder alone.

You put the shade on the right first, draw it on your eyebrows, then seal with the wax :) Enjoy!

You first apply the wax color to your eyebrows. You can define them with the wax. Then you apply the tinted power. I like to use an eyebrown brush afterwards to blend it in a bit.

Hello! I have the light kit currently and am in love with it! I have light brown hair, though, with blue eyes and pretty light eyebrow hair. Since you are dying your hair black you may want to go with the medium kit so your brows will be darker and match more. I think the light kit would be too light for you if you are used to wearing a charcoal brown pencil.

I've always heard that if you have blonde hair, your eyebrows should be two shades darker than your hair, and if you have dark hair, your eyebrows should be two shades lighter. I have light-brown hair that I dye dark red (think maroon) and I use the medium. If you dye your hair black, I think the dark would be good for you.

id go with medium to be safe, my hair is really light brown but my brows are almost black and i use the Light color. Its still really dark! it really depends on how much you put on.

use the light. its darker than what it seems. if you dont like it, you can exchange it anytime at sephora, even without a receipt. but i thought it was wayy too dark for me for a ashy brown hair.

If you're simply judging by the online picture, look at the powder on the right side of the compact (NOT the wax on the left) and judge using that which would be best match for your hair color, as that is the fill color. If you can't try in-store to choose (at a Benefit counter or a Sephora), I'd personally go with the Dark by your description, and you can always trade-out colors if you find it's too dark for your tastes... however since it's powder, it's going to be softer/lighter than a black brow pencil for example.
