I used to could buy plastic eyelash curlers. i am allergic to metals and the metal one's break out my eyes. i cannot find plastic anymore!

This entire tool is made out of plastic but it still works really well! I really suggest it though it is on the smaller side at 2 1/4 inches tall, 1 1/2 inches wide and 1/2 thick.

There is no heat. The best way to describe it is as you've said.....it crimps the lashes upwards.

This curler works just like any normal eyelash curler. If you look at the picture that piece that looks like a stand is the lever which you push down on to crimp your lashes.

It is not heated... you put the top black curved part up against your lashes and gently press a bit to lift the lashes up so they are visible over the black part... and then squeeze the lever on the back to bring the white pad up and hold a couple seconds, and it curls the lashes beautifully.

Product is made differently

I have used these for years without any problem until I recently purchased 4 more. They are so stiff that when you squeeze enough to get the lashes curled, it breaks! All 4 of them are that way. So disappointed, I have long lashes (sorry) and curling is all I do, I don't wear mascara unless it's a big event. I have tried so many others and this was the best. Any suggestions?

I find that this curler is particularly hard to crimp as it feels stiff. It could also be that your eyes are not fitting properly. If you notice this crimper is flatter in shape. It works better for me because I'm Asian and my face/eyes are flatter:) I would suggest you use another brand with a rounder shape (assuming that your face is not flat as mine):D Also some Japanese markets like Marukai and Mitsuwa sells their own version of this crimper which I find last longer and not as stiff. Only thing is the drive is too far for me....

Try the Tarte curler instead. I had the same issue...loved this curler but it kept breaking. It isn't intended for daily use..try the Tarte one instead. It gives the same results without the break!

same thing happened to me! I have purchased for years and used it daily. then recently returned 3 due to the snap then break effect. Store reps said "no one else has returned this curler due to breaking"...find that hard to believe

Same thing happened to me. I used to love this product! My lashes are as straight as they come, and I use Tweezerman ProCurl to great effect.

It will take some time getting used to this product since it does curl differently than traditional curlers. Simply pull back the lever, position your lashes between the white pad and black top. Place your thumb below the Sephora in the circle while grabbing the back lever at the same time. Voila!..a perfect curl!

to get the best results, squeeze a few times as you release so that you get a full curl throughout the lash and not just a bend

Hi my Sephora sister :). I've used this curler for a long time, tried others, and have returned to this one. Best way to use it is to open the curler and apply it as close to the base of your lashes as possible, hold, squeeze and release. At this pt., they should be separated and then, repeat the process and you should be good to go.

There's a little tab on the back, unsnap that, and it becomes the lever to press the curler. Hold on your lashes for 10 seconds at least.

I'd just replace it....for $5 it's not worth the trouble. Each curler usually last 3 - 5 months. Unless one is particularly good with fixing small screws.

I have had this happen, I pressed too hard and something snapped, hence no more tension... now I am very careful, esp. since it is right near my EYE!! You probably have to buy a new one... good thing they are pretty cheap:)

Yes! I'm half asian(doesn't mean were the same obviously haha), but I always had trouble with other curlers, but this one is easy to get close to the root of your lashes without hurting yourself. Plus it's just really good in general. <3 Vanessa

I don't work at Sephora so I can't 100% say, but in my experience they are AWESOME about returns. If you go in and tell them what happened, I'm sure they'll let you exchange or get a refund/credit to buy something else. I've never had any problem returning anything, even after some time and if the product has been tried-- but didn't meet expectations. They're just fabulous about returns. Hope that helps!

Obviously, there's this one by Sephora. I can't vouch for it, but it is obviously plastic. The one I swear by is by Japonesque. I have the small one that curls your lashes in sections at a time. It works great on me (and is all plastic). If you're comfortable with it (some people aren't), there's the option of a heated curler. I know the reviews on Sephora's version is mixed, so take that as you will. My Japonesque one has always worked for me, and I assume that the heated curlers are generally about the same in construction. (The only metal on the curler you come in contact with is the coil that curls your lashes. It's encased in plastic - the Japonesque version, anyway - and only comes in contact with your lashes, nothing else. I mention this as an option since I know some who use the metal curlers will heat them with their hair dryer, but if you're intensely allergic, I guess heated curlers aren't so much an option either.)
