Questions & Answers for Clinique High Impact Mascara

Question
False lashes (in a good way)type of volume??
Hi,

I already have fairly long curly enough lashes, so I'm looking for a mascara that can deliver serious volume. When I write volume, I mean false lashes looking volume without the clumping, and without looking ridiculous (which is a subjective determination, so maybe that's not helpful?). If this mascara doesn't deliver in that way, I'd love to hear which ones do! Thank you!

This product won't give you the result of "fake looking lashes" its quiet natural looking actually but the best part of it is volume. I use it during the day for natural looking eyes. Not a night time, over exaggerated party look.

I recommend this product for volumizing. It is build able so you can increase your lashes volume by applying and reapplying. I do not have problems with this one with clumping - rare! Only if it is getting old, like 5 months or so old, then it will start to clump.

Hey! :)
This specific Clinique mascara is not for the "runway volume lashes". Trust me i know about volume, i like my lashes as long as my heels lol! Sadly, i was not blessed with long lashes, so i either have to fake them or make them! I wouldn't put this product back though, only because for those days that you want a quick shopping trip or for even just a pedi and you want that "i have naturally long lashes look"! But i wouldn't recommend that for the summer because it's not waterproof, and even in the cold it will smudge in the corner of your eyes (like me) so keep a compact ready. So i would recommend the Dior show mascara in black, or even if you're on a budget yet want the same effect get the Sephora volumizing and defining mascara. Literally, add one coat of wither of these and you'll get "ohhhh baby!", but two coats will surely give you runway falsies with absolutely NO clumps and no lash left un covered! The dior show is my personal favorite because it's a thicker product, with a thick brush and adds volume sky high, with complete coverage (so you can keep the compact at home), i absolutely LOVE IT. Also, any sephora volumizing or defining mascara returns any results, and you surly get what you pay for! I love them both, so I hope this helps :)

I am still looking for the mascara that does not smudge or flake. The best I have found: I apply Loreal Extra Volume Collagen Voluminous then I apply Blinc mascara over it.

Question
This mascara never fails to makes my eyes water. But it's Clinique, it's supposed to be gentle! What could I be doing wrong?
No other mascara, ever, has irritated my eyes, but without fail, every time I try this one, it gets to me almost immediately. What could it be? What's unique to this formula and wand? I desperately want to sport the dramatic high impact super-dark, glossy black, but the eyes won't have it. Why? Does anyone else struggle? Is this an example of irony?

Besides the Benefit They're Real mascara, this mascara is my favorite! I have super sensitive eyes, and it works fine for me...except for when it is getting older. With mascara, after about 2 weeks the formula starts to change and can actually develop some nasty bacteria, which is probably the cause of your itching. If not, everyone's sensitivity is different so i would try the Benefit They're Real...it's great!

I've noticed that happens to me when I apply the mascara when I haven't widened my eyes enough so that either the brush or the mascara itself gets into my eyes. I would suggest maybe curling your lashes first and then using the mascara so that you are applying it further away from your eyes!

I wish I knew what ingredient in it would make you allergic to it since it does the same thing to me. Throughout the day, it would irritate my eyes and my eyes would water. Then it would completely melt and get into my eye and burn...and in the process of trying to rush to the restroom to remove it, I'd rub it all over and now have black eyes! Lol.

Did they change the formula???
I recently bought another tube of this, but the top of it had a chrome top, instead of the whole thing being a dark green. I also noticed that the brush was different so I did not get the same result like the old tube. I checked the side of it and it says "High Impact Mascara"..what happend to the old brush and bottle?? So upset and disappointed.

About 2 years ago, I received a small, sample tube from a friend who worked at Clinique. I loved it but had just bought a few tubes of Power Lash. When I ran out, I bought a tube of this and I thought that it looked a little different but thought it was still the same,I noticed a big difference in the actual mascara, not jut the tube and wand. It didn't apply or wear the same at all. I don't think it is the same as it used to be.

I had the same incident! Although, the ingredients have not changed, just the brush. The brush does make the bigger difference though! But if you love the product still i would recommend buying single mascara brushes from clinique (or any other brand) and just test them out to see what fits you best to your liking! I really loved this product for the days that i didn't wanna wear all my makeup at once, but it didn't give me the same results :(

I also noticed the change in packaging, and almost had a mini panic attack. The sales associate at Sephora's assured me that Clinique only changed the packaging, and the formula is still the same. I've recently gone through two tubes of the "new" high impact and notice the same amazing results.

They did change the top to chrome colored plastic, although I have yet to own a bottle. I haven't asked them why they did it. I found that the green plastic top was prone to cracking, which happened on more than one tube I owned. Perhaps the chrome colored one is a bit tougher, or they just want to get flashy. As for the brush, it still looks like a pine cone in photographs. What does yours look like? It would be a shame if they changed the formula!

I actually purchased Dior Show and hated it. Returned it to Sephora and picked up the Clinique High Impact since it claimed to lengthen, volumize, and curl, and it does! Half the price of DS, I've since gone through atleast 3 tubes of this stuff. I adore it! The brush is a lot smaller than the DS, which I find easier to work with. Also, absolutely no flaking!

This mascara is by far better! It does a way better job of separating and just overall benefits the lashes a lot more. No matter who I ask, almost everyone says that the lash doubling mascara does little to nothing for them, and I agree, although my lashes work with almost anything. This mascara is on the most favorited list of Sephora's along with other high end and cult mascaras!

It smudges like no body's business. It also flakes and will leave little, black circles under your eyes like raccoon eyes. Try Power Lash instead (I think that's the name) It is smudge proof and not necissarilly water proof but will only come off with warm soap and water. That one won't run in the rain, through crying or during sweating. I would not recommend this if you are looking for something that will last more than 4 hours.

This is definitely not waterproof. I do find that it is not suitable for lower lashes since it does smudge (on me at least) but because the effect is so beautiful on the top lashes I don't mind using two separate products for top and bottom. Actually, if bottom smudging is your issue, consider the Clinique bottom lash mascara. I felt it was a bit of a gimmick but the brush is small (great for bottom lashes) and the formula does not budge. Hope that is helpful.

Yes definitely! That's exactly what this product offers. I got tired of curling my lashes and having them become clumpy with drug store mascaras. I tried a few mascaras at sephora hoping to find a product that gave me nice volume and that didn't need me to work with layering my eyelashes. This product was a must take home. Why? because it was only $19 and it gave me the same excellent performance that a $40 mascara did. I truly believe it's worth every penny. And yes it did give my eyes a more natural look, because they stood out without looking over-layered. One swipe at those lashes and your set!

If you want really dramatic looking lashes, this probably isn't the mascara for you. It goes on light and you have to layer and layer to get the affect you want, I can't say I've ever seen this mascara give me a really full lash look. I like the way it goes on, very easily, I like the brush, it's right for me, but may not be for you- I've tried this Japanese mascara, fiberwig? it's formula adds length to the lashes, it's quite good, but ive never had a mascara give me that really full look without clumping really badly. Hope you find the perfect product-

I don't see how this could possibly be called natural-looking! It's very volumizing and makes my lashes look 100x larger and thicker. [Estimate of 100x not real. Just my opinion on how I think it looks.] It does clump a little bit for me, but it's nowhere near as bad as other mascaras I've tried. I've experienced the "three eyelashes look" and it's not pretty. For this mascara, I use a lash comb after applying it. It's definitely important to use the lash comb before the mascara dries though.
