I would go with light because it doesn't really show a color on your skin. I have olive skin and thats what I use.

I would get the dark. It is not extremely dark and it blends well into the skin. I tested both the light and dark on my skin before I bought it. I felt I could have used either. I have medium skin tone and both light and dark looked natural on my skin.

I think that all pore minimizer products like this deposit a substance in your pore which temporarily fills them. I guess this product does in fact "clog" your pore, but I have NEVER broken out because of it and I have oily acne prone skin.

It doesn't really "fill" them in - more like glides over them. You can still see the pores, but with less shine. It "blurs" the edges of the pores, and makes them look smaller, but once you get oily again, you have to reapply. I didn't have any problems with clogging, but I wore it OVER my makeup.

It isn't makeup - more like a cream with a tint. It is light in color, so I used it over my foundation, but under my blush. It does not work on top of powder as it will cake up, but if you use liquid foundation, it should be fine. I didn't find any clogging problems, but it doesn't last all day. You need to reapply it when you get shiny. It more blurs the pores than hides them.

The Clinique instant pore perfector is just a treatment. I think the pore size you have is the pore size you have and any "fix" is temporary anyway.

It is not a "treatment" for large pores...it is a make-up that gives the look of less noticeable pores and takes away the "shine." I use it when I have a special evening out or going out for the day which is forecasted humid. It will knock the shine off of my face! I haven't found a product that will SHRINK pores.
You'd need a derm doc for that...Rx Retin A It works for my skin & it doesn't take much of the medication for results.

I believe there's an ingredient sheet included in the box. Ask a Clinique rep to get one out for you at the counter or in store.

No, it doesn't shrink your pores in the long run. But while you're searching or using other products to shrink the size of your pores, this can most definitely help you. It works as a concealer, not as a pore treatment. But it's a great, blendable concealer.

It doesn't shrink your pores for the long run, only when you're wearing it does it have that effect. But when you are wearing it people will ask you, "Where'd your pores go?!" That comment coming from anybody is hugeee to me, because I have hugeeeeee pores! Plus it controls oil pretty well, although if you're really trying to control oil, I have to suggest a different product, Laura Gellar's "Welcome Matte."

I have used Smashbox Photofinish primer as well as the Clinique instant perfector. I use the Clinique product for targeting certain spots, like my t-zone, and pretty much use it every day. I use the Smashbox photofinish primer (the spf one) when I want to cover my entire face, and usually when I put powder on (before going out on weekends - I don't wear powder every day). They are both great products, but Clinique is better for targeted zones (I think it minimizes the appearance of pores more) and Smashbox is better for all over coverage. Sometimes I use them both at the same time!

It's not big at all. Maybe slightly wider than a tube of lip gloss, but not by much.
