Questions & Answers for Clinique All About Eyes

Question
Make up or eye cream?
does the product actually diminish the circles or does it just cover them up? i have bad allergies and light skin and I'm looking for a product that will get rid of the circles rather than just cover them up because i don't really like wearing a lot of make up. if you don't like this product, which one would you recommend? thanks(:

This is an eye cream that absorbs easily into the skin, leaving no residue or color. Using this AND makeup give you the best chance of reducing the look of puffy eyes and dark circles.

I have tried more expensive and have tried cheaper eye creams. I keep coming back to Clinique all about eyes. It does what it says. It refreshes and sooths my eyes, and the puffiness seems to dissappear with each use. The product melts invisibly into the skin. It does not have any color. I find myself needing undereye concealer less and less with each use.

It's a moisturizer, not a concealer, so it doesn't have any color. It helps to eliminate lines and minimize circles by moisturizing and plumping the skin around the eye.

Nope, it doesn't cover up dark circles, it's supposed to get rid of them. For me, it doesn't get rid of my dark circles completely (then again, I haven't been using it for that long), but it definitley brightened up the skin around my eyes--there was a noticeable difference after the first day! I definitley recommend it.

it's more just like a moisturizer for that area. it doesn't make bags go away, but it's a cream that doesn't add color or anything either.

I have noticed a reduction in darkness. Also, it is a perfect primer for applying additional concealer as it is smoothing like a gel and absorbs like a cream and makeup glides on over it.

I would not say this product is more effective than other products. I think if you used other products in the past that have worked and do not feel like spending $100 or more, this will be helpful in maintaining whatever lightness resulting from the other products. I have used Hylexin, PTR Power K Eye, Hydroxatone and this product. I find that this has maintained all my results. Although the dark under eye circles are not gone completely, they have reduced significantly. I think each product varies for each individual. I got my dark circles from weight loss and heredity and I hear that Hylexin does not work for hereditary dark circles. I have found the best results from Power K Eye. This product is best for hydrating the under eye area before putting undereye concealer, in my opinion.

Question
Does this cream burn under the eyes?
Most cream under-eye concealers that I've tried burn the skin under my eyes, make my eyes water, and generally feel awful. Does anyone know if this has the same side effects? I'm desperately seeking something that just conceals and doesn't hurt.

I don't think it will totally get rid of the fine lines around your eyes. It will just make them less noticeable. It brightens the area around the eye and reduces the puffiness. If you have deep set lines this will unfortunately not make them disappear. I think this would be great if you just want to make them less noticeable and moisturize the eye. Good luck!

Question
Does this work well with primer on top?
I usually moisturize my eyes and then put a primer on top and then apply my makeup. From what I'm reading -- please correct me if I'm wrong -- this product dries to an almost powdery finish, and works well as a base for eye makeup. I'm pretty loyal to my eye makeup primer, so would primer work well on top of this moisturizer, as far as the dried texture of this moisturizer goes?

I don't know what they're talking about by drying. Not once has this product ever dried out or "dried to a powder" on my skin. It's very moisturizing and sinks into your skin in about two minutes. It's great for under primer or any kind of concealer or foundation because I use it about 5 minutes before I put my makeup on for the day and I never have any problems. It's also formulated to hold eye makeup in place. Good luck.

this is really a prep product, so yes, use it before primer and moisturizer. I focus this mostly on the sides of my eyes and underneath. I stil put some on my lids, but not as a primer, more just preventative. wait till it dries before you do your moisturizer, and then your primer.

This doesn't dry to a powdery finish at all. I also use an eye primer and have no problems putting it over tip of the eye cream. I do tend to have about 15 minutes between applying the eye cream and before I put on my make up (while i get dressed).

Question
How does this compare with cheaper Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum?
I've been using the Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum for years. It works okay and does keep the under eye moisturized but does nothing for wrinkles or lines. I wanted to try something that does a bit more and helps keep the whole eye hydrated and looking smoother. This Clinique is only a few bucks more than the Olay. Will it be a big difference between the two or just a little better?

While I haven't used that Olay eye product, my very prominent NY city dermatologist (one that is continually quoted in Allure and Cosmo) recommended that I use the general Regenerist serum as an eye primer to combat dryness, tugging from makeup, and lines under my eyes. I liked how the silicone serum glided on the skin, but it didn't do much else. Nothing noticeable for my lines, nothing noticeable to improve my makeup, and nothing noticeable to help hydrate the delicate skin. Also, if I over-applied, I would end up feeling it sitting on my skin. I have been using Clinique All About Eyes everyday for 2 years now and it is different on all accounts.

This product is truly a creamy gel, where it glides on and smooths the skin underneath like a gel and then it hydrates and absorbs like a cream. I cannot attest for the reduction in puffiness as I do not get puffy, but I feel that the lines and darkness under my eyes are softened and diminished. I would recommend giving it a try.

I personally find this product to be a must have.....I have purchased just about every single eye product out there and I always return to this "gem" becuase of the way my eye area feels when using it. It is soothing, diminishes eye puffiness and helps with fine lines.....but the way that my eye area feels is the ultimate reason that I return to use it every day. It has a way of smoothing the under eye area in a way that I have not found in any other eye product. I use on top of make up for a quick freshen up when I need a pick me up before running out for dinner or an evening out. I am a die hard "all about eyes" fan and will continue to use for the years to come>

You can ignore the “lifting” part of name, only a surgeon can do that, but otherwise Olay’s serum is vastly better than Clinique’s
All About Eyes. The Regenerist serum has several antioxidants, anti-irritants, glycerin, niacinamide, and unlike All About Eyes, it’s packaged to keep those ingredients stable. The Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum is a great moisturizer for around the eyes and even your face. Best of all; it’s budget friendly.

This is going to be more lightweight than the Regenerist serum I would think, as this is a great eye cream for younger, oily skin since it has a gel like consistency, which is going to be different than a serum, which is more rich. Honestly, if the Regenerist works for you, keep using it! Don't fix what isn't broke!
