I have strawberry-blonde hair, pale skin, etc, and the black honey was not great. Too plum-like for my taste. I tried it on my daughters too, to make sure my perception wasn't messed up, and it was too plummy, even though it was sheer. I'm going to return it for a different shade in-store.

I'm a redhead with pink undertones to my skin and hazel eyes. I love the idea of Almost Lipstick, but the only color I've tried, Black Honey, comes out more purple on me than I'd like. I'm eager to try the new colors that I see online, but weren't yet available in my local store.

Based on your description, I think you should try it. It is very buildable, meaning if you do a light swipe, it will be more sheer, but you can put more on and make it darker. It's never bright pink - its more of a deep color. You can always return it if you don't like it.

I really think that it is worth a shot. I am very fair with red undertones, and most lipsticks look more brown on me than anything else, but this one really turned out nice. My cousin is a natural redhead, very pale, and it works for her. It may be slightly dark, (it was on my mother, who is olive with yellow undertones) but a lighter lipgloss on top would change it up a little and make it really beautiful.

I am a brunette with yellow/olive undertones and I'm a fair/medium. Like I posted in my review, I was comparing Black Honey with a very dark skinned African American, who was very young, about 18-20, and she looked fabulous in the color, I looked fabulous in the color. It came out a beautiful berry color on her and came out a beautiful light berry on me. I also saw an Asian lady wearing it too, and it looked fabulous on her, like an almost sheer bronze berry. Why don't you go to customer service, and ask them if they would send you a sample, or if you have a store near you, go check it out. The lipstick seems to change color to complement any woman of color, so you really have to try it!! I also have auburn coloring to my natural shade of hair, so, I'm betting it would look great on you!! I wish I could see you with it on!! I'm hoping you'll get another response from another natural redhead!! But try it, you can always send it back, if you don't like it.

it shows up more reddish orange...kind of a strange color. I wasn't sure what to anticipate and i was a bit surprised when it went on, Also, the color it doesn't go on very strong ( actually clear when you first start) then after about 7-8 swipes, the color starts to show.

Neither. It is kind of a natural maroon color. It seems to enhance most lip tones natrually. But if I had to pick between pink and red it is more red.

I'm blond, but I wear the palest shade of foundation out there, I tend to look ghostly next to my friends in pictures, and I have pinky undertones too (and I have some red tones in my hair...if that helps, lol). This (almost) lipstick was perfect! It was a nice rose-y color, a "you but better" (& glossier!) color. I adore it! And honestly, there's no real downside, because the exchange policy at Sephora is fantastic! I actually got this in exchange for a product I bought but that ended up being to weirdly gold on me. It was seriously as hassle free as it gets. I say, give it a go!

I'm a redhead and I think this is a great color. It's plum, not red or pink- just perfect for those of us with fair to light skin! While it is a great color, it does tend to dry my lips out. You may want to try Fresh Sugar's plum color lip gloss- it's fabulous!

My niece has a light olive complexion, and it looks amazing on her. It's sheer, so it just adds a wash of color to your natural lip color. It's definitely not for redheads, though.

The most accurate way to describe the color is this. Go in front of the mirror. Pull down your bottom lip. The color inside the bottom lip...where the inside skin normally touches your bottom teeth...is about the same shade as the lipstick will look on you. It will be just a tiny bit darker on olive skin but not enough to be a big deal. Hope this helps!

I have light olive skin and it looks amazing! It doesn't turn too pink, which is a problem I have with other berry colors. I really believe this color looks good on 90% of people.

I wrote in my original review that I was at a Sephora store, and a young beautiful very dark African American girl was also trying on the same Black Honey as I was. We were both in the mirror comparing the colors to my fair/medium skin (I also have olive undertones) and her very dark complection, and we were amazed that this lip color complemented both of us, like it was made special for both of us!! This formula appears to change colors to anyone's skin tone. We also were trying other make-up of the same and were amazed at some of the products (Nars Orgasm Blush), looked perfect on both of us. I love going into a Sephora store, and meeting people of all different skin tones and seeing and comparing how the same make-up will enhance each other's skin tone. This Black Honey does it!! I also saw an Asian woman trying the Black Honey, and she too, looked fabulous in it. If you are like me, and live out in the middle of nowhere, give it a try. I can honestly say, I think you will like the results. If you don't, you can always send it back, but I bet you won't!!

I have an olive skin tone, and the lipstick looks like a berry tint on me. But please note, this is a SHEER color. I was hoping it was dark like the picture portrays, but I had to apply numerous coats in order to make it look remotely dark. So if youre looking for something that you can adjust how dark you want to go, this is for you. But if you just want something dark and berry...this probably wouldnt be what you want

This color is so versatile. During the day or for work, you can use no liner, or a nude. For a more dramatic look, try a lightly applied berry hue.

Personally i would go with a nude because i wouldnt want to change the color of this lipstick at all. When ur in doubt always go with nude! Hope this helps.

I wouldn't wear a lipliner personally... the coverage of the lipstick is pretty sheer - so a liner might not look right.

Clinique didn't come with any lip liners in this line, or with any of their Black Honey kits. My personal opinion is that, you shouldn't wear lip liner with this product, because it's not really a lipstick. It's more of a sheer color of gloss. Because it's packed with moisturizers, it would make a lip liner smudge all over and it's supposed to give you a wash of natural color. But if must wear a lip liner, I would pick something in a very light berry color. But, please try this product first and if you still want a lip liner, I would go with Clinique's brand of lip liner colors, because they are the only who makes this color, so they might carry a complementing lip liner color.

I wouldn't wear a liner with this. I don't think it's necessary, but if you must, I would use an invisible one. Sally Hansen makes a good one, believe it or not, and it's really inexpensive!

the color is a little bit of a dark gloss with mostly your lips color. It looks really nice.

It's quite sheer on first swipe, and the color of the product will be HIGHLY affected by how pigmented your lips are, what undertones you have, etc. Seeing it on someone else won't be very helpful, I'm afraid.

On me it's a berry color, but I have a light complexion. The idea behind the product is that it looks different, but still flattering depending on your complexion. Try it. If you don't like it, return it.

It would work, just don't expect this to show up like a real lipstick, it will be very subtle, esp. on someone with deeper skin. I am somewhere around Gabrielle Union's shade, and it is very subtle on me.

I'm not a sistah, but I wouldn't count on Black Honey to give you any color. This stuff is so sheer. You'd be wasting your money, IMO.

I was in a Sephora store with a young girl from Nigeria, and we were both trying on Black Honey and the Black Honey bricks blush. We both looked fab!! Even though I'm light, I have a yellow undertone to my skin, so I wear purples, teals, and burgandies. She was what you call a Winter color, and that's my color, too. Winter colors girls wear deep jeweled clothes and makeup. Also, Clinique has to put some kind of chemical in their lipsticks. No matter what color you are, and no matter what color of lipstick you wear, it looks good on everyone!! It's so cool, it just adjusts to your tone and darkness or lightness and looks good on you. Definately try Black Honey, and then try some more colors, at $15.00 you can't go wrong!!!!

Im actually darker than Jennifer Hudson, and I use the Black Honey and the Chic Honey. I LOVE them. Though I like intense lip colors, I pretty much follow the rule, intense lip color, toned down eye color/toned down lip color, intense eye color. Namely because I work in a professional atmosphere, I much prefer having more eye color (color appropriate of course) and a toned down lip color, and this is where Clinique Almost lipstick shines all the way. The color is subtle and so soft that it compliments my eye make up wonderfully. If your looking for intense color, leave this on the shelf, but if you just want a subtle berry color to compliment your eye makeup, definitely definitely definitely go for this! I have been searching high and low for a soft berry color (g_d knows how many lipsticks I own) and I definitely found that with the Almost Lipstick line...ALTHOUGH, let me suggest, just because I like it so much, if you are looking for some intense berries and reds that are mattes, hit up Nars Pure Matte. Just stunning color. Lol..alright thats my two cents. CIAO!

I like the Clinique gel blush in the color "black honey". I bought the Black Honey beauty set on a whim because I already love the lipstick. The gel blush is great too.

I use MAC's Brit Wit cream blush with Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. Both are very natural plum-tinted colors and both are under the umbrella company Estee Lauder.

I would have to say Clinique's creme blush in *Sweet Clover*. Absolutely beautiful, and gives a very natural, dewy glow to the skin. Blends effortlessly. The perfect blush, especially for us "mature" ladies 35 and up!

Black Honey is the only color that Clinique makes in Almost Lipstick format. They've discontinued the others.

They don't, I wish they did too, and maybe some other colors.

It's a faily good size! I would say that it's about the height of a mascara, but it's thinner than one. The width of it is probably about the size of an average lipgloss. I attached a picture of the Clinique Almost Lipstick next to some other Clinique products so you could compare sizes to get a better idea.
