It says cleanser but the staff from Clinique sold this to me as a makeup remover....I use this to remove my makeup then follow up with an oily skin cleanser. But you can use this twice....one to remove and once to cleanse....it makes my skin nice and soft. I also use this to clean my brushes and sponges and it does a great job.

This is a makeup remover. I know it says it is a cleanser but if you read the directions on the container(Which is in my hand right now) it says to use it "before" your Clinique 3-step system. So yeah it is a little confusing, I wish Clinique would give better information on some of their products.

It's more of a makeup remover in "cleanser" form. But you'll definitely need to use an additional cleanser for keeping the skin clean and toned. It gets rid of surface "stuff" like makeup, dirt and oil, prepping it for "real" cleansers that go deeper.

I use this at night for both cleaning my skin and removing make-up. It works great! I use it in the shower and my skin is left feeling very clean but not dry. I also am acne prone and have not had any problems with this cleanser causing break outs.

This stuff takes off my makeup pretty well. I follow up with DermaDoctor Wrinkle Revenge which I use as my "cleanser". So, hope that answers your question.

Question
Is this suppose to be used with the Acne Solutions system?
It looks the same color as the containers in the Clinique Acne Solutions. I use the Acne Solutions system and want a makeup remover to use. So will this work nicely with the Acne Solutions system?

I would say yes this would work well with that system. This is the makeup remover recommended for oilier skin types. It is a light, non-irritating gel.

Yes, the Clinique lady at Macy's told me to use this before the 3 steps of the Acne Solutions system, and yes, you should use both this gel and the Acne solutions cleansing foam.

No , this is just a make-up remover for oily skin, you can buy it alone as a make-up remover if you have oily skin , use it before the acne solution system. This product does not include in the acne solution products line.

Question
Oily Skin?
Im looking for a cleanser however I'm not sure as to how you determine if one's oily, dry or normal skin. I get oily around my nose area only...so..does that mean im oily skin? What happens if you use cleansers for oily type skins when your not?

Only thing that might happen is your skin might feel a little dry. If you use this and follow with a moisturizer and still feel dry Id find another product. Im very oily and this leaves my skin very soft....you should be fine. This breaks down makeup very well....even on brushes....highly recommend

I am just like you. I am oily around the nose, but pretty much normal everywhere else. This is a great product. It will draw the oils out from your nose, while smoothing everything out as well. You should give it a shot.

Hi, here's how to determine what type of skin you have: at the morning , start with your regular routine, after wash your face , don't apply toner or moisturizer yet. pat your face dry. and check your face after 30minutes or 1hour. If you feel tight or dry over all face , you probably have dry type of skin; if your feel dry on cheeks, but comfortable on your forehead and nose, than you have combination dry skin; if you feel comfortable all over, but a little more greasy on the forehead and nose, then you have combination oily; if you feel oily all over your face , or you see your face is glowy, you might have oily skin.

answer 4
If you only get oily around your nose, but your cheeks are comfortable and oil-free, then you have combination skin. Cleansers and other products made for oily skin may be too harsh for you, and can end up drying out your skin. You should look for products designed for combination skin.
Hope this helps!

Most people get a little oily throughout the day, but if you only get oily around your nose I wouldn't worry about getting a cleanser made specifically for oily skin. I have very oily skin throughout my t-zone and I find that I need something a little more to really cut through the oil, make-up and dirt that has built up on my skin throughout the day. If you're interested in a Clinique product, I would recommend you try the cleansing milk first. I tried that when I was experimenting with different facial cleansers, and I found that it was gentle and worked well. If you still find that your skin gets oily, then maybe move up to an oily skin-specific cleanser

answer 6
You definitely don't have oily skin! Getting oily around your nose (T area) that's more likely for combination skin. So, if you're looking for a certain type of cleanser, then you shouldn't get one for oily skin, because it will strip away the skin's natural oil, so you'll tend to breakout.

I would honestly say that it would not or shouldnt cause you to break out. I would suggest this for people with sensitive skin or who dont want "over-drying " effect cause by some products. This is a simple and basic wash and does its job. Hope this helps.

Oil-free?
Is this cleanser oil-free? I use the Super City Block everyday and feel like I need something extra to take off the SPF, oil, and makeup that builds up during the day.

Yes, it is oil-free and it's perfect for removing the SPF. I too have oily skin and use the City Block and it's really heavy. This cleanser takes all that stuff away, leaving nothing behind but clean skin!

I'm allergic to sulfur and have never detected the odor of sulfur in this cleanser. My allergic reaction to sulfur is severe & immediate, so, personally I would guess it doesn't have sulfur in it since I've used this product for many years without a problem.
