Questions & Answers for Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara

Question
Does this mascara flake?
I am currently using a mascara that I really like, except for the fact that it tends to flake off on my cheeks. The flakes can also sometimes end up in my eyes, which is annoying. Does anyone know what I mean? It's not exactly "raccoon eyes".

Anyway, does this mascara "flake" at all?

I hate flaky mascara, too! Like Long Pretty Lashes, this mascara has not flaked at all while I'm wearing it. If I apply to the lower lashes though, it does seem to smudge a bit by the end of the day, creating that "racoon eye" look. Overall I'm very pleased.

Brown / Black - I have blond hair and light eyelashes, but I think that true black mascara looks weird on my face. I like this because it's dark enough but isn't such a dramatic contrast.

It's a dark brown, probably closer to the black/brown side than a "true" brown. I've honestly used both colors and don't think I have a preference for either one. I tend to go with the black more though just because it's usually easier to find.

No it does not smudge! It goes on very nicely with no clumps or flakes. It dries quickly. If you are looking for a big, bold look, this is probably not the product for you. But if you want natural, well defined lashes, I definitely recommend this product. I've used it off and on for 15 years (love to experiment with new products, different brands) and it is my go-to for no fuss naturally pretty lashes.

This is not a water-proof mascara. It does run when coming in contact with water. Although, a few tears won't send it running down your cheeks, but I would not recommend swimming or showering with the intent of not removing it first. It is my favorite mascara, but I wouldn't use it if you need a water-proof product on a daily basis.

I've used Mebeline as well. This is my favorite mascara! I have used it for about a year and experience NO clumping what-so-ever. It lasts all day and doesn't flake, clump, or look like I'm wearing a ton of mascara. I put 2 coats on, and my eyes really pop but still look very natural. You should try it- the price is very reasonable compared to many other products. I used DiorShow for a while, but it was getting costly to replace it at $30(approx.) a tube! This is definitly a great product, I would recommend it to anyone!

Well this mascara is extremely light. It goes on very very light and I have to use three applications to get in on in order for it to be visible. It does look nice one on, but it also smeared when I wore it on the bottom. I don't know if that helps you.

Yes! It's great to use with the lash primer. Without the primer, you get a beautiful, natural look, but with the primer, you get defined, voluminous lashes. It still doesn't clump with the primer. It's like having two lash looks in one bottle!

The point of this product is to look natural. If you added a primer, it would start to look thicker and probably be prone to clumping. So if you want a thicker look to your eyelashes, just use Clinique High Impact Mascara, and then you can save yourself the added step.

Hard to predict. All mascara, including this one has at least somewhat of a curling effect on my lashes, but I don't think that that is a typical effect. Personally, I tend to find the ones labelled "curling mascara" to be on the clumpy side. So for me, curling mascara does not add curl, but it just weighs down the lashes, such that for me, they then actually curl less.... In short I really like this one for a natural look, and it is more glossy than Tarte which has a similar natural look.... If you want a fresh daytime mascara, I've never seen anything better. You can layer it on a bit heavy for evening, but at that point, it might take out the curl.

I have the same kind of lashes and I used this mascara for years and years. Recently though I found Per-fekt Beauty Lash Perfection Gel and it blows Clinique out of the water. It has the same "glossy", natural-looking texture as Clinique, but, for me it actually adds curl and length!
