Use a cotton ball or pad and cover the opening with it, and pour some out until you've soaked it enough. Then, rub that cotton ball/pad over your face, and avoid the eye area.

Take a cotton make-up pad, apply some of the product (put the pad at the top of the bottle and quickly bring it upside down) and just wipe it all over your face - after you've cleansed and before you moisturize.

I would also say avoid putting this on your eyelids/around your eyes because it will most likely just irritate them even if it is the mildest of Clinique's toners.

You place the toner on a cotton ball or pad then wipe your face with it. Wait a few minutes before applying any moisturizer or cream. You would wash you face prior to using this product.

Put a cottonball over the top turn bottle over for a second enough to get the cottonball wet, not soaked. Then lightly swipe it over your face enough to clean and exfoliate. Do not rub its bad for your face and cause irritation. Dont rinse it off either. never rinse off your toner unless the bottle says to.

Question
Does it really exfoliate?
I guess any toner can remove traces of makeup, but does it really exfoliate? Or would a bottle of witch hazel do the same thing?

I like to use the 7 Day Scrub for true exfoliation, but this product does seem to keep my skin looking fresh and bright. Maybe it's the product plus the action of the cotton on skin. Not knocking witch hazel, but I do like Clinique. I like witch hazel for things like insect bites or soothing mild sunburn.

This does lightly exfoliate your skin. And Do Not under any circumstances use a straigt bottle of witch hazel on your skin. its super drying on your skin even if it doesnt look dry. Products like this that include witch hazel but also has other ingredients dont completely strip your skin of its oils (which it needs). Also the only reason a toner would "pick up" your makeup is cause your not using a makeup remover before you cleanse your face so its getting left behind then your toner picks up what left. You should use a makeup remover so your cleanser can do its job and so can your toner.

This particular formula does not exfoliate. The salycilic acid in the other formulas will exfoliate and sweep up the dead skin cells. This one, however, does not.

In answer to your question it really does a light exfoliation for skin. It works very similar to Witch hazel in its cleansing properties. It also makes the skin feel firm after like tight but in a good not uncomfortable way. However the Clinique system differs in that it has a special belnd for each skin type. Someone with oily skin is different than dry skin, and normal vs. sensitive. It's the answer to the one size fits all skincare because as we know in life one size never really fits all. Hope I helped, worse case scenario Sephora has a great return policy buy it, try it, don't like it return it no problems.

I was a skeptic too....but it really does exfoliate and is nice and gentle. Depending on your skin type, witch hazel might work too but this works really well for my sensitive, rosacea-prone skin.

I've used witch-hazel in the past for a deep cleaning. I prefer this for more sensitive areas though, and for everyday use. It cleans well, to the point that even after using facial wash, I can still see dirt/makeup on my cotton pad when I use this.

Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1:

This formula contains: ingredients: water (aqua purificata) purified [] alcohol denat. [] witch hazel (hamamelis virginiana) [] butylene glycol [] allantoin [] glycerin [] sodium phosphate [] trisodium edta [] methylparaben [] fd&c yellow no. 5 (ci 19140) [] fd&c blue no. 1 (ci 42090) <iln3712>

I emailed Clinique website for the info on Feb 11, 2013. It looks like they changed the formula and added a paraben, so I'm not too happy about that.

Question
Which Clinique Toner is best for my skin?
I am 35, live in the desert. Light complexion with blonde hair & green eyes. Oily T-Zone and dry in others. Large pores, with blackheads. . . YUCK! Ocassional acne flare-ups, in the T-Zone, of course.

It depends on how oily your T-Zone is and how dry the rest of your face is.

If you have oil on you skin I would not recommend Clarifying Lotion 1. It's meant for very dry skin. Number 2 I believe is made for a combination of oily and dry with more focus on the dry side. Number 3 is made for a combination of oily and dry skin with more emphasis on the oily.

If your skin on your cheeks isn't incredibly dry -- as in you can wash your face without it feeling tight and flaky then I would recommend Clarifying Lotion 3 -- just because you said the oily parts of your skin is where you break out aka. your problem area.

The #1 would probably be best, but you could also try the #2 if you're concerned about oily areas. Neither one is drying, but if the #2 feels a little too much, just use it less frequently.

Question
Clarifying Lotion 1 vs Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion
Many reviews marked this product as "acne clearing". I just wanted to know if anyone has used both the #1 and the Acne Solutions clarifying lotion. I have cystic acne and have been using the Acne Solutions line but the dryness is making me crazy. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I definitely found the Acne line by Clinique made my skin incredibly dry, and I think part of my acne arose from the flakiness of my skin.

I am blessed with fairly clear skin so I can't say too much, but for me and my skin I found the Acne line made me breakout more than this product.

definitely moisturize after you use this product. Because it removes so much dirt, the moisture soaks into your skin so much better. But I haven't found that this product alone clears my acne.
