To clean it, run it under running water and dry. Keep it in the case it came in to prevent it from scratching anything else in your purse or drawer. Try not to drop it onto a hard surface or it may break. I have had one for months and it has not worn out yet, but they are so reasonably priced that replacing one won't break the bank.

answer 3
Emery boards seem to "rip" rough edges smooth instead of just smoothing them. Glass files last me at least a year. That cannot be said about emery boards. Anyway, I've always thought of emery boards as the same as sandpaper and would you use sandpaper for your nails?

answer 10
glass files are more gentle on your nails than an emery board. You can actually file in a sawing motion without damaging or roughing up the edge of your nails. It also gives your nail ends a smoother feeling than an emery board. I highly recommend them, though the one I bought from Sephora was single sided, which made me a sad panda.

An emery board has grit glued to it. The glass file is a glass with a texture. An emery board only lasts a few filings but the glass file lasts for years.

The file is 5 1/2" long ~ that is the medium file. A small file is 3 1/2" and fits great in the purse and for touch ups. The large one is 7" long and is alot more corse and thicker and used for the feet. Just make sure you get the real ones made in the Czech Republic.

Question
Is the file double sided?
Some cheaper crystal files are only one sided, with the other side useless plain glass. If the Sephora brand crystal file is double sided I'll buy it. Otherwise, better to buy the famous name brand that's more practical and provides double what I need. Absolutely no sense buying a one-sided nail file.
