Yes it does have a natural fragrance to it. Usually products that say "unscented" have un-natural products to make them that way.

To me it smells kind of like pencil shavings. It dies smell kind of strong, but I don't smell lavander.

I didn't notice a lavender scent. It does smell somewhat medicinal to me, but the scent doesn't bother me. It doesn't seem to linger either.

I would be very careful about applying anything under your eyes unless the product specifies that it is intended for use around the eyes. And as long as you haven't had a bad reaction to it, it's fine to use at night.

I have been using this product for both day and night for a couple of weeks with no problems. However, there is no SPF in this particular lotion, so I will be purchasing the one with SPF for the daytime. It's not too heavy for daytime use though... just use sparingly. A little bit goes a long way!

I have combination skin so the regular Hope in a Jar is too light for the dry areas. I had to switch to the dry, sensitive version, but it's a little heavy for the oily spots. I use this every night since I don't care about shine at home and then in the morning I use a lighter lotion by Bliss.

NOT AT ALL....I have serious SENSITIVITY to alot of creams ,makeup& thiscream doesnt irritate my skin .....I have tred many,many creams out there....high end to drug stores&I am LOVING this ...my HOLY GRAIL.....

While I don't have any skin problems generally speaking, I am finding this formula very soothing and non-irritating. I haven't had any trouble with it yet. If it doesn't work for you, you can always return the product to Sephora.

I have had fantastic results from it with no irritation whatsoever. However, your condition may prove your skin to be much more sensitive than mine. As a nurse, I can tell you that if this doesn't work, I know that a significant number of patients whose treatments leave them with sloughing skin do well with semi-solid coconut oil that comes in a jar. i do and dont agree with shannonireland because i agree about this moisterizer but not about all philosophy products because i tryed the philosophy hope in a jar spf 20 and it made my skin all red and blotchy because i have extremely sensitive skin. but this kind is great.

Yes! I have incredibly sensitive skin, and I react very badly to most moisturizers, including those labeled for people with sensitive skin. This moisturizer is perfect; I never feel any sort of irritation. It doesn't have any icky fragrances or irritating ingredients. Actually, this is true for all of Philosophy's products :)

Slight fragrance, but according to the product descriptions there are no synthetic fragrances. As its for dry / sensitive skin I don't think they'd any fragrance.

I've never had any problem with returning things to Sephora. Also, they will let you take home a sample (enough for a week or so) to try out. When I've been unsatisfied in the past, they have taken it back, even if I've been using it. Of course, you can't return an empty jar and ask for your money back, but if it's fairly new they will usually give you at least store credit.

The first thing I inquired about was the return policy. Sephora has an excellent return policy and will give a full refund for your product with a receipt and will give a store credit without a receipt.

they do have a 1 for dry,sensitve skin.....it is alot smaller then the reguler formula......&the smell too...I use the sensitive one & its my 8th jar....I LOVEEEEE IT!!!!

My skin gets red very easily and this doesn't reduce any redness. I've found that MD Skincare helps better with that issue. This is still a great product though.

I have rosacea, so my face is just about always red. I've been taking accutane so I expected it to get worse. It started to, but since I have been using this it has actually gotten better..and I'm hoping it will eventually go away! I don't even have to use a ton of concealer on it every morning anymore!

I have the same problem and was diagnosed with rosacea. I was given a prescription that helps with the redness (metro-gel) but made my skin flaky dry. When used in combination with the Hope in a Jar for dry sensitive my redness went away and may skin balanced out.

my skin is quite red too. i feel more confident about not wearing makup with this creme, although i am not sure if it does help with redness or it is just a mental thing with me. i dont have problems with breakouts, so im not sure about that either. apparently sophora will allow you to return it if you dont like it though...

I have very sensitive skin and I would break out occasionally especially if I used the wrong moisturizer. This product really helped balance my skin out that even others noticed how much my skin had changed. Only use a little because thats all you need.

It does have oil in it, however I believe the type of oil they use has particles to large to sit into your pores and have a negative effect (not all oil is bad for your skin).
