Questions & Answers for Philosophy Hope In A Jar Therapeutic Moisturizer For Dry Sensitive Skin

Question
Fragrance
Hi,
I was wondering if this has a fragrance like the other Hope products? The original Hope in a Jar has a strong lavender scent that prevents me from using that product. Thanks

Question
I have lizard like skin
I have scaly dry skin around my mouth, chin and cheeks.
I originally had oily skin, but after proactive and clinique, it dried out my face SEVERLY.
Now I use the Philosophy completely clear acne kit, and it works great, but my skin turns super dry after i pat my face after washing.

can this work on my dry skin?
or will it make my face greasy again?
would this interrupt Philosophy's completely clear acne systems formula?

i really need some answers T.T""

I had eczema around my eyes (lids and underneath) and some dry patches on my cheeks and this product worked wonders on my skin. Two hours after my first application I could see and feel a difference. I have been using this product both day and night for two weeks now and have not had any trouble with oiliness. This product has completely cleared up my dry skin, it's amazing. I also have extremely sensitive skin and have had not a single problem using this product.

Just because you have acne-prone skin does not mean it isn't sensitive. It also doesn't mean that your skin isn't dry in some/all places. I would highly recommend using Hope In A Jar for Dry Sensitive Skin. Play with the amount by starting out with just a small dab here and there, as well as what time of day you use it. I would personally tell you to use this moisturizer at night, while using a lighter moisturizer in the day (like the one provided in the acne program). Ask for a sample, too, if you'd like to try this out before spending any more money on face products. Because you're having success with philosophy products, I would also tell you to feel comfortable using this as well. I think you'll find a balance in moisturizing that works for you while maintaining a clear complexion. I don't trust any brand like I trust philosophy.

Have you tried the Regular Hope in a Jar forumla? I would recommend that first. Clinique dried me out too but this special formula (even though I have sensitive skin) left me with a lot of mid-day sheen. So I found myself combating that with another oil reducing product...
Now I only use this on verrry dry days (like after a flight), or just a dab on especially dry spots. But I use the regular formula and my dry and oily issues both cleared up.

Question
big difference w/ this one and the regular one?
hii, so i recently bought the regular HIAJ and i've been using it for about a week now, but i've noticed that:
a) after applying it before bedtime, my skin is still dry in the morning
b) right after applying it in the morning/night, it absorbs quickly but it still leaves my skin feeling a little dry.

also, the majority of my face is dry w/o lotion/moisturizer, but my t-zone gets a pimple or two every now and then, so its a little oily. so with this being said, should i switch to the 'for dry, sensitive skin'? thankss!!

I would try using it all over your face at night and see how that works for you. Then, use it only on cheeks, neck and wherever else you're feeling dry during the day. For daytime use, you may need to try a lighter moisturizer for your problem areas. Remember, even dry skin can break out and oily skin can feel tight!

I've only used this one so I cannot make the comparison with the original version. However, my question to you would be whether or not you're exfoliating? Sometimes our dead skin forms a barrier which doesn't allow an adequate amount of moisturizer to penetrate. Hope this helps!

It's worth a try! I also recommend that you use an extra intense night cream instead of the HIAJ. It might make all the difference. I was not able to use the HIAJ regular formula- it made my skin turn red and flaky, but the dry and sensitive formula works very well. Good luck!

I have had fantastic results from it with no irritation whatsoever. However, your condition may prove your skin to be much more sensitive than mine. As a nurse, I can tell you that if this doesn't work, I know that a significant number of patients whose treatments leave them with sloughing skin do well with semi-solid coconut oil that comes in a jar. Hope this helps!

Yes! I have incredibly sensitive skin, and I react very badly to most moisturizers, including those labeled for people with sensitive skin. I've never had any problem with returning things to Sephora. Also, they will let you take home a sample (enough for a week or so) to try out. When I've been unsatisfied in the past, they have taken it back, even if I've been using it. Of course, you can't return an empty jar and ask for your money back, but if it's fairly new they will usually give you at least store credit.

Don't be fooled by the small jar. I got a very small sample from the sales lady on New Year's Eve and i still have it! I have been using it everyday and that stuff goes a LONG way! I usually am skeptical too, especially when it comes to spending money, but am so glad she gave me that sample cause my skin gets really dry no matter what time of the year it is and this stuff works wonders! I apply it once before putting on my makeup and don't have to reapply till i go to bed! I swear it really works. Not to say it will work for everybody cause, yes, everybody's skin is different but just ask the lady for a sample to take home so you can see if there are results without spending the money yet.

I tried the original at first, and it irritated my skin. But this one smoothed my skin so much better than the original, as well as being unscented and didn't irritate my skin at all. You may as well go to the store and try it, because everyone's skin is different and you won't know until you try. But this is definitely superior to the original.

Question
Is this product worth it?
I've been searching for a face moisturizer that would even out my skin texture and color. I have eczema coupled with extremely dry skin - red, cracked, itchy, flaky, you name it. I've been using Pond's Dry Skin Cream for about a year and while it does the job for a short while, I have to reapply it several times a day. I recently started wearing makeup for shows and my makeup looks very uneven and irritates my skin.

I found this moisturizer and the reviews are convincing but I am still skeptical because of my severely dry skin. I went to go check it out in the store today and when I found it I was shocked because the jar is TINY and $38 is really steep for something so small. So I want to be sure that it works and that it's worth it. What do you think?

So not worth it. I basically have the same skin and it was disasterous! The formula for all skin types agreed with me but this formula did not. I am currently using First Aid Beauty Daily Moisturizer (it's also cheaper - $18) and trying to get my skin back to "normal." So far, so good.

Definitely worth a try!! I have excema on my elbows, and sometimes I use this as well as my body lotion on them, and it's great! Not too greasy, only have to apply one in the a.m. and once at night. I bought mine mid-November, and I've still got just under half left, and I use twice daily. You don't need a lot, as it's super concentrated. Give it a shot!! Check what the return policy is, and buy in-store if you can!

I also have extremely sensitive skin that frequently gets dry, red and irritated and am tentative to spend a lot of money on a product that might not achieve the desired results. When I decided I needed a new moisturizer a few months ago, I consulted my dermatologist. This is the moisturizer she recommended for me. It's very gentle and soothing for my sensitive skin. It really does cure the most dry and irritated spots so skintone looks more even and makeup application is flawless. Also, you don't even need to use very much of the product for it to be effective. I know the jar looks small, but I've been using mine for a few months now and the jar is still at least 3/4 full. So, in short, since I bought this at the recommendation of my dermatologist and have been using it for months, I can verify that the results really are worth the price. I hope this helps you!

My skin is dry and can get flaky, but not as severe as yours...I don't think it will hurt to try this. It shouldn't irritate your skin at all. In winter, I use it day and night (I top it with an spf during the day) and makeup goes over it really well. I agree the jar is small, but a little goes a long way with this. I'd try it I was you!

For me the price is high too ...but this goes a long way ...and not much is needed . I apply more when needed and use an applicator to take just dabs of the cream from the jar ...and apply it ...massage it gently onto my face after my shower . While your face is still moist from your shower is the best time to apply it . When I am done getting dressed if I think I need more in any area I can always apply it then . Perhaps if it is possible an appnt. with a dermatologist would be helpful also .
