answer 1
You ask what the colour & consistency of this product are "supposed to be?" rather than simply asking "what are they?", so your own final 3 words seem to be the key to your query's focus. In reply I can tell you what I found when I opened the 1 jar I'd ordered here @ Sephora dot com, although arguably this may still not be exactly what you're seeking to know! Still: as a "preamble" I can say that when I opened mine it appeared to be fresh, since there was no separation of contents much less any "curdling", as it were, or other such indicators of trouble in that regard; plus it was almost scent-free, w/ only the mildest & most inoffensive odor apparent. So in describing what I at least perceived to be a fresh product, (1) as far as your Question of colour goes, mine was somewhere between white and ivory. (NB: When the cream's applied to the skin, this colour should disappear). And since the product did seem quite fresh, I'm guessing that this white / ivory colour is that which this item's "supposed to be". (2) Other than the 1st aspect of at least appearing well blended as described above, the consistency of this cream was actually quite thick, & very heavy & greasy -- which I assume is what P.T. Roth means by the hyperbolic adjectives "Mega Rich" & "Intensive". The 1 other person who has also replied to your question states "it's thick but... it doesn't feel heavy. It penetrates the skin well". In all friendliness I must respectfully disagree w/the impression such an answer gives: i.e., the impression that this is simply the case, period. For it is not; and my own experience is that it feels VERY heavy when applied to the skin on my face, as opposed to how this same tiny amount feels on the naturally somewhat thicker pads of one's fingers when one 1st scoops it up from the jar. Also, it did NOT penetrate my own facial skin well: not at all! In fact it basically remained lying on top of it even after 8 hours' sleep. But then I have what's called "Normal" skin (yes, with a capital "N"), unlike the dry-to-very-dry skin of most of the reviewers who rave about this product. Since my skin is so boringly Normal, lol, it has quite a different texture & different type of pore-size than dry skin does. I wonder if this may be why this cream was so incredibly greasy & oily on me yet w/out penetrating my skin well, although I can't say I know this is so for a fact (plus PT Roth actually states this cream IS for "Normal to very dry skin" !!). What I do know for a fact is that this very unpleasant consistency & lack of penetration CANNOT be due to how I applied the cream, as I did so w/very careful precision according to the Roth instructions. [More info about my own experience of this cream's consistency, etc., is available in my regular Sephora review of this product.] (3) Still: depending upon what has actually caused your question, especially given those words "supposed to be" (e.g., I myself wondered, based on your words, if perhaps you'd opened a jar of this product to find it seemingly stale in 1 or more ways -- &/ or encountered some other significant problem), you may need to directly contact the company which produces Peter Thomas Roth products, in order to obtain a completely satisfactory answer. If you do decide to contact them, 1st find out which company produces PTR products; & then you should be able to find the address and phone number for that company's headquarters via 1 or more online search engines. To get to the "right person" may take some digging, albeit possibly very interesting and not-so-laborious digging. /// Last: Should you not obtain satisfaction from the Roth representatives, try checking out what customer-reviewers say on several other online cosmetic review sites as well as on this one: for you may even find your answer -- or at least, similar experiences that may confirm whatever your own experience was or is -- on 1 or more such sites. Best wishes!
