Hi,

The best thing you can do is go to a Sephora and get a free consultation. The consultants are trained to deal with each individual situation, each person's skin tones, eye colors, and hair colors, and can recommend the very best products and shades from a wide range of manufacturers. When you ask a question on these boards, sometimes people who have no experience with any products give advice and sometimes teens make suggestions, having only experienced only their own young new skin. (No offense to anyone intended). It's all a matter of perspective, I guess, which is why the Sephora consultants can give you the very best answers about products. If you're not near a Sephora, you can also get best advice by calling the toll free line at 877-SEPHORA.

Hope this helps.

Everyone's shade is different. The best way to find your ideal shade is to visit a Sephora store and ask an associate to help you find a shade. They will test several different colors on your skin to find the most natural looking one.

Concealer is a very picky choice. You DON'T want to get the incorrect shade. You may have to mix and match brands to see what works for you. I go in twice a year to make sure my concealer is the correct shade and has the coverage I want. I would try some of the Makeup Forever shades mixed with the Stila shades, but the Sephora experts can help you with that. Don't skimp on the time needed to get the correct shade for YOU. That is why I don't purchase at the drug stores, the shades or either ashy or dark. Maybe go to the store on a day other than the weekend and you can spend more time with the Sephora experts.

The colors are sooo close. Even in the store I had a hard time to choose.
The sales lady helped me a bit, but I still don't know for sure if this was the best color.
If you have another concealer which you liked, you should try to bring it in and see if you can match it the closest.

What color is right for me
I have medium toned skin with an olive/yellow undertone. I have dark circles under my eyes. What is the right shade of this undereye concealer for me?

Try Shade E or F, if you're not too dark skinned this will be good enough and lightly dust some powder over top all over to even it out and set it in place. Also Shade K and L at the bottom could work.. use your best judgment by looking at the samples online and comparing them to your face tone.

If it doesn't seem to work out you can always ship your return back to Sephora in the box it came in, or return it at a Sephora store, and try a different shade.

I also have Olive skin type and I use shade "C". Ask an associate to demostrate and apply it to your undereyes. Also, take a sample home to try before purchasing. That helps a great deal. Hope this helps.

What color should I get?
I've been using the Stila Illuminating Concealer but it looks like they don't sell that anymore? I was thinking I could get this instead but have no idea what color to get. I have an olive complection and use the Stila 40 Watt make up

I think it sounds like shade D or E would be a good one for you, but it really depends on how dark you are. Both shades have a bit of an olivey tone to it, so that seems about right. You should go to a Sephora store and ask them what shade is right for you, that's how I found my shade. The lady I asked did a test on my face and the colour was perfect! I hope that helps.

This stuff works great for acne scars and pimples. It takes away 100% of the redness. It also stays on really well, even when it's hot out. It is a little shiny, though, so you may want to put some powder on the t-zone area after you put the concealer on.

Honestly, I use to use the stila cover up stick. Not a fan. That was the reason why I steered away from stila but they have certainly redeemed my faith in them as I absolutely love their new perfecting concealer. The cover up stick has too thick of a finish, which makes oily skin more oily and if you have dry skin/areas it can get cakey and even crack. I have similar skin type and the perfecting concealer was perfect. I put it on right after moisturizer. It blends so, so well. I also like that it doesn't smear easily because it doesn't over hydrate my skin causing it to be oily, loosen up and sometimes get on my clothes or whatever brushes against my face. It locks in my skin perfectly. I don't have bad acne but it does work on scars and discoloration very well. I would go to a sephora consultant and have them match which color works best for you. I highly encourage you to at least try a sample of it as you will fall in love!

Testers are available at any Sephora or dept. store that carries the Stila line - list on Stila Cosmetics site. The reps at Sephora are always helpful when it comes to finding the right shade for your complexion. There were times were I was b/w two shades and ended up buying both b/c a blend of the two was the right color for me. Stinks to think you have to spend twice as much, but blending the Perfecting Concealer w the foundation or powder you use may also work so you don't have to buy two. Sephora lets you have free samples to take home to try w the foundation/powder you normally use.

If you do not live close to a Sephora or want to choose a color without having to go into a store, the Stila Cosmetics website has pics of larger chunks of each shade on the Perfecting Concealer product page and a foundation color matcher palette link on the same page. There is also a video posted under the beautytube tab that offers tips to choosing the right shade - forward to about 1:16.

When you go to the Sephora store the experts should be able to help you get the correct shade. You DON'T want the wrong concealer shade. Try some of the concealers as samples to make sure it is what you want and try them at home to make sure they work with your daily routine.

You would need to go to the Sephora counter and let the makeup experts help you out with that, you DON'T want to get the wrong shade. I go at least twice a year to make sure I am wearing the correct color. Sometimes you have to mix different brands and shades together to get an exact match but the Sephora makeup experts can help you. They haven't steered me wrong yet. Have them mix you a sample first to see if it is something you will use on a daily basis.
