i would use this as your toner, if you put a toner underneath this i feel like it would be a waste of product the aha/bha would just strip that toner down. luckily this has green tea in it so that will be the toner. after i recommend using josie marans 100% organic argan oil to nourish and moisturize your skin.

I actually use this after my Clarisonic. I use the Mia 2 in the shower, then I use a Max Complexion Correction Pad once my face is dry. This proves to me that my Clarisonic is definitely cleaning my skin and the solution in the pad has AHA/BHA and salicylic acid that my skin absorbs. I follow this with the PTR AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel and consider that to be my toner. PTR makes a liquid soap, but I find these pads to be easier to use, more convenient and better at overall cleansing... But that's just me :)

Can I use this wit my RX meds?
I'm taking oral antibiotics for my acne, plus a Retin-A at night. From reading everyone's advice it says to use this product at night. Can I use this and still apply the Retin-A?

Thanks!!

You should not use this product with retinol, as the active ingredients in both products inactivate one another! AHAs and BHAs have a very low pH (around 3.5), whereas retinol is only functional at a higher pH (5.5-6). If you use them both together, the retinol will be inactivated, and the higher pH of the retinol product will make the pads less effective. You could theoretically use them about an hour apart; however they may still interact, or if they both work at full strength they may irritate your skin.

Most dermatologists recommend using AHAs/BHAs (like these pads) and retinol on alternate nights, or using AHAs/BHAs in the morning and retinol at night. Both products make your skin extra sensitive to sunburns and sun damage, so don't forget sunblock!!

Cheers!

SInce you are taking acne medicine and the Retinol at night--you would have to see how that works for you first. Did you JUST go on the antibiotics? You may need to give that time to work before you add anything extra to your skin care regiment.....than maybe this could be something to use in the morning or afternoon whichever timeframe you are NOT applying the Retinol.

Yes you can. Retin-A is not technically exfoliating..it speeds up your skin cell renewal process. I use a retinol pad at night so I use this product in the morning....which is totally fine!!

I think this in combination with Retin-A would be a bad idea. The acid is pretty strong and it might react with the Retin-A (which is PRETTY strong best I remember.)

I suspect that you might not even need the Retin-A if you used these. My acne has really cleared up since using Max Complexion Correction pads.

You can definitely use a moisturizer after the pads so that your skin doesn't dry out. I have oily, sensitive skin and I love these pads because they don't dry out my skin at all and they don't cause irritation. My dermatologist did recommend that I use moisturizer as my last skin care step so it's probably a good idea.

Question
Did anyone reuse a pad?
When I first opened the bottle I noticed the pads were quite soaked in solution, so even after I wiped my face the pad was still very much wet. I was wondering if it's a good idea to reuse it, due to solution excess, but at the same time I'm afraid not to spread the bacteria that causes acne and all sort of stuff...Did anyone try it out?

Reusing these wouldn't be a very good idea. Although the alcohol in it disinfects, most of the solution is on your face instead of on the pad after use, so bacteria and sebum can remain on the pad.

I agree with the previous answer! Do not reuse! The pads contain a lot of solution so that you can clean your entire face and neck with the exfoliating side and then flip the pad and cleanse your face and neck with the regular side. The solution contains all those "great for your skin" goodies so I just move on to body moisturizing while I wait for my face to dry and then apply the PTR AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel. Hope this helps :)

My humble non-scientific opinion is that you should not re-use them, so that the product is not contaminated. I would suggest cutting them in half and using half a pad on each instance. You can clean a pair of scissors with alcohol for that. I have done this for eye pads that were too big.

Question
Will the drying go away?
While i have noticed that the imperfections are diminishing, it also noticed that it has made my skin dry - especially on my nosebridge and where it connects to my cheeks. It is beginning to look wrinkled like a prune and often, I have to apply more moisturizer.

Is this normal? Will the dryness go away after a few more uses or should I discontinue?

Frankly, while I think this is a great product it isn't really meant to be used for everyone. And even if you CAN tolerate it, I would suggest using it once or twice a week to start. After a few weeks, add a third day or a fourth. But really, it's not something that need (or should) use every day to see results.

It has a lot of really harsh stuff in it if you're not used to it and it WILL make you dried out.

But trying to add it in to your routine slowly is the way to go. Once you can tolerate it, you'll see that you don't need it every day and your skin will glow rather than be fried.

Question
Will this help rid of acne scars?
I am 25 years old. I have very oily skin and break out around my chin due to hormones. Frquently with cystic acne. The rest of my face gets some blackheads but overall is just oily with large pores. Im looking for something that can help with acne, oiliness and also with acne scarring. Even after a large sucker goes away, I'm left with a dark spot and sometimes another pimple forms right in the same area of the scar. I love dr dennis gross pads but the price is too steep for me. Thank you!

It will help with scars, but I recommend looking into the Murad system as well. It's helped a lot with getting my acne prone skin under control (I was person who went through two accutane treatments and almost had to do a third until I found this product and Murad), and with Murad, they have a product that helps to lighten your skin. If you decide to use that product, please be warned that you will need to wear sunscreen because your skin will be more susceptible to UV damage.

Use the rougher side first and wipe all over face. I focus on certain areas where I have acne marks and get blackheads. Then I use the other side (smooth side) and go over it again. Don't wash off. If your skin gets dry use a moisturizer. I will sometimes just apply moisturizer to my cheeks (and avoid my nose where I get oily). Try using it every other day at night after you wash your face--that way the product stays on your skin while you are sleeping and can do its magic. Hope this helps!

After I take a shower at night, I use one pad on my chest, upper back and face. One pad has enough solution that I don't need more than that on those three areas. In the morning after I wash my face and before I dress for work I do the same thing again, one pad on those three areas. You don't have to wash the area before using the pad because the pad is made to cleanse your skin as well as treat it.

Use a moisturizer with it. I use skin medica vitamin c in the morningn and kinerase night cream in the evening. Even if you have oily skin you have to find a moisturizer that works. The oil glands go crazy if your skin gets dry, then you get more pimples. I use these pads on my shoulders for kpl and it has really helped. I just swipe it after I finish with my face, because the pads are so saturated there is plenty of product to go around.

After use your face might seem a little tighter but well moisturized unless your skin is very very dry -internally dry- then you might want to use an oil based moisturizer or heavy cream moisturizer depending on your PH after use of these pads.
In the winter it is a good idea to always apply some sort of moisturizer regardless of the cleansing product you use, but I would say no this product should not increase the dryness of your skin but it is not any substitute for a daily moisturizers

As far as applying this product to other areas of skin, I would imagine there are great benefits but I would test the area first and then careful watch its progression. If you are already using this product on your face then you are probably not allegeric so there should not be any problems
