Questions & Answers for Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes!

Question
Will this mascara affect the look of my eyelashes in a bad way?
I have long, thick naturally curled lashes and I do not use much mascara on my lashes but will this mascara benefit my lashes or clump them up? I don't like the "overly" done and thick effect on my lashes. Natural looking lashes is what I like.

This product didn't clump at all in my experience, and I am on my second tube. However this mascara really lengthens your lashes. So if you already have long eyelashes maybe you should instead concentrate on a mascara that will give you volume (which is not this mascara) since this might make your already long lashes look a bit fake or showy.

I think this would be a perfect mascara for you. It doesn't clump, and provides a clean, natural look while still looking like you have mascara on.
And you know Sephora, if it isn't for you, they'll take it back. Try it!

I believe that you will ge tthe effect that you are lookingfor with this mascara; it's def a natural looking mascara w/ one or two sweeps ofthe brush. I, on the other hand, like my eyelashes to pop so I have to run the brush over my eyelashes a few times to get that effect.

I love this mascara...I don't like that spider look on my lashes...I wear it alone during the day and at night, I wear a "cheap" mascara then put the Tarte on as a second coat...gives it a full look without the clumping

Nope. It is actually one of the better mascaras I have used. In Dior, I would always get little flakes under my eyes during a stressful day but not with this one. And Dior kinda irritated my eyes too if I slept in it overnight but this one doesn't. The only time I had slight itchiness was when I accidentally applied some of this mascara too far inside my bottom lashes and it irritated my eyes just a bit but after washing it out, it was not a problem.

The mascara formula is very stable and doesn't flake. My skin is hypersensitive, so I cannot wear anything irritating like SPF lotions, etc, and this mascara hasn't irritated my eyes at all. However, I will note that when it's humid outside, it does tend to run a bit, so I would definitely use a light waterproof topcoat to ensure all-day wear.

I like Tarte's LCL better than Buxom. I find Buxom dries out quickly and can be clumpy at times. The brush for Tarte is easier to use than the fatter brush from Buxom. I find it easy to get the small lashes in the inside corners.

I wear all of bare minerals makeup except the mascara now. I like this better. I did not like buxom's brush. I like this one because it is very narrow at tip to get the inside lashes. Stays all day, washes off easily with bare minerals cleanser. Has not clumped up once.

This mascara is awful! There is no resistance when the wand is pulled out and it comes out with huge clumps of gummy mascara that gets worse each time you use it! You end up wiping $20 of mascara off onto tissues. It also flakes something awful and makes lashes look very clumpy and not natural at all!

Compare to Lancome Defincils?
I love and have used Lancome Defincils for 17 years. However, I've heard some great things about this mascara but I mostly like the fact that is "natural". Has anyone tried both products? Is it just as good, better or stick with Lancome? Thanks!

Before switching to naturals, I was a huge Lancome fan (for at least 20 years). Definicils is a great mascara, Tarte is just as good with the benefit of being "natural" . Key difference - is that you can layer a little better with definicil and it lenghtens just a bit more, but all in all, Tarte does a really good job.

I was devoted to Lancome Defincils for YEARS. Then I developed an allergy to it and was devastated that I couldn't use it anymore. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I was forced to find something else that was a more natural, gentler formula. Little did I know that my quest for something new would lead me to something far superior - I think. Given the choice, I would never go back to Lancome now. I love this mascara. It's worth trying it - it's cheaper than Lancome too.

I think it ultimately depends on how the person's eyelashes are. I have extremely straight and stubborn eyelashes. When I applied this product i curld my eyelashes and applied the mascara after. Once it dried my eyelashes started drooping and then I had to curl them multiple times. So if you have very stubborn eyelashes like mine, I don't recommend this product.

I have Asian lashes too so mine are short and stick down and are not full. I use this mascara with Shu Umera eyelash curler and it works wonderful. I use the curler first to curl the eyelashes and then I put about 4-5 coats for each eye. And I finish it off by curling it again with the eyelash curler. Works great and holds up for the majority of the day. I usually curl it again in the evening if I'm going out so it'll perk back up.

The product information says that it creates 92% curlier lashes. However, this is not a mascara to be used if you would like to create uber thick layers of mascara, it is best used lightly. If you are unsure about this mascara, it is best to find a store near you that sells it and try it out for yourself. Also, there is a waterproof version of this same mascara that may better suit your needs if it is usually waterproof mascaras that work for you.

I'm Asian and I have the same, exact problem as you do! I have found that no non-waterproof mascaras keep the curl, at all. I have tried dozens and found that if my curl stays, the mascara is waterproof. The only waterproof mascara that NEVER uncurls my lashes is Waterproof Maybelline Lash Discovery. I tried the non-waterproof version and it totally uncurled my lashes, unlike the waterproof one. So I figured there must be something in some waterproof mascaras that keep from uncurling my lashes. I don't know what it is, though. Wish I did!

I would also like to know if anyone else knows a mascara that doesn't uncurl lashes. I can't seem to find any. I actually liked the sample of this mascara. It did lengthen and volumize my lashes, but I had to recurl my lashes after applying. But when I did, my lashes looked amazing. I want to get the full-size product but noticed there is a waterproof version. I might get both and if I do, I'll let you know how they are.

I have very straight lashes as well. I use a lash curler then I apply the mascara. It does hold the curl well when I use the lash curler.

When I work out I tend to get a slight raccoon eye on my lower lid, but this stays on pretty well for moderate exercise. If you are really working and dripping sweat, this will run a lot. Since this is not water proof, I always have to remove it before I get into the pool to do laps; it will run all over your face. I hope this helps!

This product does not fair well under pressure or water. It is not water resistant. For a water resistant formula by Tarte, try Lights, Camera, Splashes mascara.

This is not a waterproof formula but I do find that it holds up with slightly teary eyes or minimal sweat. They do have a waterproof version however I don't really like the way it goes on.

Not waterproof, waterproof mascara is the worst thing you can put on your lashes. Use it at your wedding then throw it out!!!

This holds up alright against tears but if you are sobbing as opposed to just having watery eyes, this will definitely streak down your face

This mascara is not waterproof but does hold up fairly well against tears. While it won't leave mascara marks streaming down your face, if you've been crying, and sort of blot your lashes with a tissue, it will come off a little bit. They have a waterproof version with a super adorable anchor on it, so maybe that would be a good bet. Haven't tried it, but believe me this mascara is TOTALLY worth it!

This product stays put all day, thru running allergy eyes even. It doesn't come off, until I take it off.

I find that no, not very. But if your eyes get wet, they will clump a bit, just don't rub them, and wait for them to dry a bit and try to separate the clumps

Question
Does it stay?
I have had a lot of trouble finding a mascara that doesn't wind up underneath my eyes. Has anyone who's used this mascara had trouble with it running under their eyes?

Lights, Camera, Lashes is a great mascara all around. Never clumpy, leaves your lashes with a lot of definition and separation (not that spidery look) and stays on all day without flaking off. It's not a dramatic mascara like Diorshow, but I think of it as an everyday, going-to-the-office mascara. Plus, it leaves your lashes healthier! If you're not convinced, go to your local Sephora and try some on!

I am on my second tube and have never had a problem with this mascara running unless I'm crying. I don't sweat much so I can't personally comment on the product in that situation. Tarte does make this product in a waterproof formula as well called "Lights, Camera, Splashes!" I also have never used the waterproof formula as I try to stay away from them unless I'm going to a wedding, funeral, etc.

I would suggest with any mascara that you try to dry/wipe off your lashes of any eyeshadow, lotion, or other product that could have gotten on them while applying the rest of your makeup. Mascara is the last product I apply. I just blink them against a hand towel right before applying my mascara. It may not completely solve the problem, but it does help. ;)

When you're applying the mascara it gets underneath your lashes quite a bit but it doesn't really come off throughout the day. Worth a try!

Never had that problem with this mascara. After my initial application it stays put and it's long-lasting. No smudges or running in sight. P.S. My lashes are fairly long.
